  • it's working for now. busted it up a little just trying to get it open. I hope I won't have to do it again for a while

  • where can i get the "hands"?

  • Seemed to work for me.

  • This fixed my xbox 10 times! and my friends too! and somehow my overheating issues too!

  • This is a good fix for my Xbox. It worked for a good amount of time and gave me some time before deciding a new one. Honestly, your best bet is to sell your broken Xbox on eBay AS IS (I got like $50 and the buyer paid shipping) and then just invest it into a new one. The Xbox360 is just about halfway through its product life according to microsoft so dont worry about them coming out with anything. Just buy a new xbox and you'll be guaranteed one that works.

  • Totally worked haha So simple

  • ~~PLEASE HELP~~

my xbox will randomly restart when im playing a game, the power button (not the ring) starts flashing, the screen goes black (tv not off) then just restarts. I need help! ive tried removing the hard drive and play the game without it and the problem still starts. Im very sure it isn't overheating. TELL ME WHAT I SHOULD DO!!!!!!!!~~~~~

  • thank you dude i love u, u saved my xbox thumbs up if it worked for you too

  • Phahaha anyone who believes this is stupid haha good vid tho bro funny stuff xD

  • my xbox still does not work do u have to let it cool down before u put it back together or after

  • great video, my xbox works great.

  • Lol, you might as well put it in a towel. Good fix bro...

  • @jriderg Great idea. So you can just nuke ALL the parts instead of just one :)

  • ur xbox is messed up man

  • are u supposed to let it cool down before u put it back together?

  • @stupidmark987 Doesn't matter. You're trying to refuse microconnections that most likely cool instantly (idk, i just play xbox) so they either fuse together again or not. It's really a toss up so if doesn't work then your xbox might just be that toast.

  • ok i did it and it worked the next time i tried to play it was broken again this is only one time thing

  • how long does it work for? is it permanent or will i have to do it every time i want to play???

  • If this doesn't work it's because you need a hairdryer with heat setting!! Do it for 5 minutes to be sure. Every rrod or e74 I've dealt with, this trick fixed it for long period of time!!!

  • You kinda sound like grizz :P

  • HELP ME. I TRIED THIS ONCE AND THANK YOU IT WORKED. THEN A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I TRIED TO USE THE SAME METHOD BUT PROBLEM IT ISNT WORKING NOW. I TOOK IT APART LIKE 4 TIMES AND HAIR DRIED IT FOR EVEN TEN MINUTES SOMETIMES BUT IT STILL WONT WORK. HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • do you ever get the e 74 again

  • You are saving everyone hundreds of dollars. Thanks a million. Worked perfect

  • Thank you very much :) I can now finish Batman Arkham Asylum :D

  • Worked great, thanks!

  • Thank you! I did only about 2 minutes worth of drying...plugged it in, turned it on and so far so good! Its been running for 2 hours now with no problems at all. I will be buying a new xbox but this will hold me over until I can save up enough cash, thanks!

  • it's working dude thanks a lot dude............

  • man u saved me $198 and 6 to 8 weeks of w8ting for Microsoft to do jack shit to it thanks

  • I guess that is my problem. I usally take the small hint sink off and turn it on and let it run without the hinksink bout bout 10secs and turn it off then run a blowdryer over it for bout 2 minutes

  • worked for me thanks a bunch

  • thanks so much man! it actually worked hahaha i tried towel, unplugging, etc. and no luck. but this one did the trick! :D

  • Worked tell today lolz limite 4 days srry lolz XD

  • Im in progress of doing this .... More info ?

  • so the towel trick.... but with a blow dryer instead? ok thanks.

  • holy donkey $#i! it worked lol _ we shall see how long LOL

  • word, keep it off blowdry it for like 5mins

plugg it all back in an it will pop up again but let it rest for like 2 mins an it should start up normaly.

    thanks bro good vidd.

  • Your video really worked. Thank you so much!

  • the fans on my 360 just go faster and faster every second y?

  • @huhxdc

y its getting hotter and hotter and u r killing it more and more. that gpu is getting to hot is what it is u do have to over heat it to get it to fire back up cuz the board flexes u need it to not do that but that is the way to get it to stop flexing is to over heat it... this will not work as u see..

  • Ay I did ya trick and now my Xbox freezes got a tutorial 4 fix

  • holy shit thx dude..!!!

  • @Bananabuttholes i have 360 and ps3 the same shit happens on both and they rated for 10 years if i heard of one that lasted half that id be amazed ps1 and n64 you cant kill i guess they dont believe in progress

  • Does it permanently fix the E74 problem or no?

  • @ChinoMusic1 nope it's basically the towel trick performed differently meaning you will melt your xbox

  • This really worked, well 4 days on and it's still working anyway.....

  • this is kind of the same as stoping the fans fix right?

so if ive tried overheating it by stoping the fans ad it didnt work then this wont work eaither?

  • @MyUsrNaMeSuX I tried overheating my 360 by stopping the fans and trying to temporarily fix my error e74 now i dunno what happened i got 3 red lights now instead of one...

  • @Xxx1Pwnage1xxX you should not have done this. If you want the fix for free message me.

  • @Xxx1Pwnage1xxX be happy =O i think 3 lights is easyer to fix then 1 light =O i wish i had 3 lights

  • This worked perfect!!!!! Thank you so much for this tutorial! I spent hours looking for a fix for this that didn't require taking the whole damn thing apart!

  • totally worked. hardest part was getting the case off. Make sure you have a T-10 before you start. Don't know for how long but i'm playing again.

  • just get used on from pawn shut make ope ,,then used other ,,stuff ,,,hard drive stuff ,,

  • ITS NOT WRKIN 4 ME

  • YOUR MY FUCKING IDOL

  • Damn that accually worked!!!!

  • does this permanently fix it? or just temporary?

  • @babykillerkitten temp, you need to do the sticky blue method but with wetting the processor with no clean flux before doing the reflow with a 500 degree heat gun setting. fix lasts about two years at most.

  • Make sure to check out wiredextreme, we offer repairs for all gaming consoles. We can fix the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii, PSP, Nintendo DS, and even computers. • This is the same method i used on the E74 error , i heated the hana chip with hair dryer and E74 error never came back WORKS LIKE A CHARM

  • ur looks exactly the same as mine..thts a jtag right

  • I Love You.

  • @Bananabuttholes ps3's are unfixable... once they get the yellow light of death your fucked

  • @nckkinney Not true. I fix them for a living, well them and other systems.

  • @nckkinney i know i was kidding lol... I just fixed my friends with a heat gun... but for some reason his xbox wont work even with new thermal paste and heatgun

  • @nckkinney flux b4 heat gun with no clean flux. no clean flux will make the solder ball stick better.

  • DONT WORK AT ALL!

  • Remelting the heat paste if you want permanent do this to get it working then take the heat sinks off, clean them, and put new arctic silver compound on both chip... make sure you put a good bit on them....

  • ://img806.imageshack.us/img806/7326/e74.jpg

  • is the perminant because e74 pisses me of i sent it to microsoft in the 3year warranty they removed warranty sticker and waited 3 weeks to get it back after 2months its broke again so is it perminant ?

  • Holy shit it worked!!

  • @bbeisel did it rlly??

  • Don't try this just send it in its free. They added a 3 year warrenty for this error and the 3 red rings of death. So if you warreney expired before 2007 your shit out of luck. This didn't work for me either.

  • im gonna try that soon really hope it works ^^

  • AMAZING. 5 stars for you, no 6!n

    GENIOUS

  • So basicly the towel trick but quicker... the towel trick heats up the heat sink. so yeah. Dont to the towel trick or any oter variant. it will mess up your box even more...

  • i fucking love you no homo!!!

i've been trying to do the towel trick and everything after that. this works like a charm:)

  • is this fix for good or will i have to keep doing it?

  • Thank you so much man. I love tutorials where 1. people know what theyre talking about, and 2. theyre good at telling it.I could tell this was a good tutorial. Now my box is fixed. ( :

  • this works for the elite too?

  • i have both. if you like online always go with xbox

  • y not just take it apart as u did then unplug the fan and turn it on with just the power cable pluged in then ur heating the hole system it much more reliable and there is no need for the hair dryer.

  • Thanks. This worked great. For how long I don't know, but I guess if it fails again you can always just repeat the process when necessary.

  • do u turn on the xbox while the hair dryer is on and wait till it gets 2 red lights means its over heat??

  • GUYS I FOUND A REALLY CHEAP WORKING RROD FIX KIT FOR ONLY £2:

    cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170486486187&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT

  • is it a permanent fix

  • @Bananabuttholes My PS3 just got the equivalent of the E74, proving that they're not that much more reliable, lol

  • This worked but is only a temporary fix.

  • how long does it last ?

  • Thanks so much for this. After trawling and looking at loads of vids this one seemed simple so I went for it. Worked first time. :)

  • is this a permanent fix? i just got the E74 and i just fixed my red rings. I just need to know if this works permanently or not.

  • @J377izJEFF no it does not

  • my xbox 360 just got the e 74 error. i tried the towel trick but that hasent worked. so im going to try this. when i first seen this video i seen you had a couple parts taken off already. how did u take those parts off?and is the disk changer and the "white tunnel" the only other parts you took off?

  • omg dude i gotta give you some props... it worked! thank you!

  • wat does the blow dryer actually fix?

  • @Bananabuttholes MAG is coming out for the PS3 very soon :)

  • @Xbox360RepairDIY and it's terrible

  • i tried the method. very good... but i got the little black dots again ,is this a side effect? or is my xbox really screwed still?

  • @elreytopoluis i am

  • @elreytopoluis i got those black dots when i i did towel trick. also if i try this method will the black dots appear still when i play Modern Warfare 2? cuz it sucks it screws the graphics.

  • @Mrtrustno1 wtf i have the same prblem with the black squares

  • @elreytopoluis Actually you want to put it back together as quickly as possible after heating it.

  • isnt this equivelant equivi... fuck w/e isnt this basicly the towel trick?

  • Yes, you are just over heating it, except this takes 5 minutes instead 1 hour.

  • @Xbox360RepairDIY wont the solder still be soft??

  • @elreytopoluis Yup! Sure does :)

  • @Xbox360RepairDIY thanks 4 telling me anyways this worked thanks

  • is it temporary

  • @jakir51 It's relatively permanent. If the error pops up again just repeat the process and it will work.

  • you know when i play my xbox in the middle of a game any game my xbox freezes the scrren is normal but the whole xbox just goes wats wrong reply

  • you might just want to call microsoft....but if ur warranty is gone might as well try.

  • @TheDJ678 This was a fix to an xbox already out of warranty. But I agree..send it to MS if you still can.

  • This worked! Thanks a ton!!
