  • poor incests and animals

  • Can I just say this is amazing. :")

  • An animal got eaten by an insect.... :|

  • this video is decieving since the name cryptic mantis belongs to Sybilla pretiosa, this video however is a compilation of different species. But it is still a cool video tho, very well put together with so much thought. amazing creatures

  • 最高!!!!!(◎_◎;)

  • Very nice Insekt

  • Wow impresionante el Poder de una Mantiz Religiosa.... Muy buen Video !!!

  • yup they do have a striking resemblance to those priests dont they

  • wonderful video and music

  • Snake... Snake?? SNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE!?

  • The white one and the pink look bad ass!

  • Amazing. Thank you for doing all the work of putting this video together.

  • beautifull

    5*

  • I never knew that an insect could eat a bird - I presumed only spiders could. Savage looking things aren't they?

  • this video is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen

  • Nice video! These amazing creatures are one of the reasons Syther is one of my favorite Pokemon's :)

  • me gusto el video, tengo una phyllocrania paradoxa , saludos

  • Doesn't this run a chill up your spine? Just think to yourself, what if these things evolve to hunt us? It'd be like the horror film "Mimic" come alive. Great video and metaphor, if that was what you were intending.

  • What's with the faces of priests and stuff? Is the mantis suppose to be a mathopher of priests being evil?

  • DANG!!! MANTIS WILL ALMOST EAT EVERY LIVE THING!!

  • It would be kick ass if there was a video game where you could be a mantid, spider, scorpian, beetle, centipede, or wasp in a big jungle hunting others, defending territory or just exploring. Add online play to that and you got one epic game!

  • In light of the child mollesting going on in the Catholic Church!

And I am Catholic too, well done!!!!!

This really puts the definition of being prayed upon, forgive me Oh Lord for the pun!

I had a pet Mantis and even built it a wood and screen cage to carry along on my hauls as an eighteen wheeler truck driver. It ate anything, even pieces of hamburger dangled in it's face on a toothpick.

Shockingly the most intelleigent insect ever! Smarter than a mouse or lizard.

  • real?

  • WOW!!! I am stunned at how strong the praying mantis can be ....eating a bird an a mouse and almost a corn snake..,. WOW.!!!

  • AMAZING video! I love the faces with the music hahaha, my votes with hymenopus coronatus!!

  • Thank you so much for sharing such beautiful video. I really admire praying mantis since childhood. If you don't mind, would you let me know the name of the music so that I can search for?

  • i loved the end with the statue jesus livesbother way:]

  • I heard austrailian mantises can change color. Or african

  • they are very beauty insects

there is no other thing as beauty as the mantids

i like the orchid mantis, its aweshome

    very incredible video

  • mantises would kill the pope

  • O_O

  • we'd be screwed if these things were like 4 or 5 feet long haha.

  • The Chinese mantis is my favorite, it is the largest and fiercest. Beautiful video.

  • No one insect is capable to reach or surpass the habilities and intelligence of the praying mantis.

The praying mantis simply are the kings of all other insect species...

I'm agree with "twicon" about the catholic shit!!! besides, i bet that all those mantis are better beings than the catholic leaders...

  • nope the centipede is .

hands down , those armoured centipeds will take out anything , although i have yet to see a hawk wasp take on a japanese hornit . i still recon the centipede owns all .

  • dont blend the ugliness of religion in something so beautifull

  • jus kidding the video is beaaaaaatifulllll

i love mantids theyre my favorite insect

    they are true assassins ninja

  • the pope screw the video

  • 0:11 transformers - fallen

  • WOW! I have a whole new respect for the mantis species.

Had no idea they could snatch a hummingbird out of thin air.

Cool video by the way, i dug the not quite subliminal religious figures

  • so how do they kill there prey. there not poisonous are they? do they just chomp on it untill it dies, thats horrible thats the defineition of being eaten alive. must have really strong jaws and sharp teeth to do that shit

  • They start eating things alive, they're not poisonous at all. However they usually chew through neck first, unless it's "too far" then they chew on whatever is closest.

  • did u see the single picture at 6:02 ? its an orchid-mantis

  • i like orchid mantis! they are so clean and elegant

  • Insect, mammal, bird or reptile... Doesn't matter which, once a praying manis has it in it's claws, it's just food.

  • cool music!

  • subhanaAllah

  • wow, just wow. Mesmerizing. If that isn't the most amazing product of evolution, I'd like to see what is.

  • 4:40 to 6:25 are setup the mantids are Hierodula species which are found in asia and india and a north american corn snake?

    wat

  • @clickityclack666 ya thats right, its all filmed in a terrarium. the bird eaten is from south-america, the mantis from asia as well

  • ...did that mantis just decapicaded the birds head?

    >____>

  • 2:19 best bit!

  • sorry thats me, freinds acount accidently

  • Why are Those creatures so Fragile and other insects, Thats like Anti Nature. Usually you have all important pieces to stay alaive protected such as your brains. Look at bees, A big and can take off a bee its head with 1 snap, Against our laws of nature, though they are physicly adjusted to camoflage to the surrounding... Odd

  • mantis are good for fighting for money ima get me one lol

  • ghost mantis the best

  • heard of hymenopus coronatus or idolomantis diabolica? google them, then you will change your mind about p.paradoxa!

  • this is a freinds account above, this one is my real one

  • P.paradoxa are very funny acting Idolomantis are overrated imo orchids are awesome though have about 18 of them right now.

  • they are nice, but, ghost mantis are the best :P

  • how about the giant mantis...

  • Wow, it totally ate through the birds head...

  • great video. The Mantis is one of the most beautiful und intresting creatures i've ever seen.

  • they are killing machines

  • Love mantids. Im gonna raise some of them.

  • Loved the vid - mantids are fascinaring. I don't get why people are so much into spiders and scrpions... mantids have so much more to offer in the aesthetics department.

  • Really amazing, thanks for sharing.

  • Wow they are big ugly things, wouldn't like to find one in my cereal bowl camouflaged as a weetabix

  • la mantis blanca en la flor blanca se vio hermosa

  • ES LA LEY LA MANTIS

  • lol , the pope fits perfectly into this ... o.O

  • is love mantis

  • Facinating.Simply The King Of Flowers.

  • I am out of words... only 'beautiful' comes to my mind...

  • Simply Beautiful!!!

    I Love Mantis!!!

  • That big White one was awesome!

  • you mean hymenopus coronatus?

  • wrong account see above

  • Sure.

  • love the white ones ^^

  • This reminds me of a boss in demon's crest for the Super nintendo. "flyer" it's a Demon mantis and it's not hard to beat.

  • What is name of big green mantis shown at 0:46?

  • rhombodera basalis (giant malaysian shield mantis)

  • wow :0 they look like protoss units

  • what was the mantid at 4:24 with the big eyes? also, what where the boxers doing, was it a mating dance or a threat?

  • most intriguing thing ever

  • @ michaelgadsby

'4:35 is the distinctive Gongylus Gongylodes'

No it's not. It's an Empusa sp.

  • I see...

    Order being Mantodea

    Its Family Empusidae

    Its Subfamily being Empusinae

And it's genus is not Gongylus?

(It just reminded me of a wandering violin thats all)

Taxonomically Gongylus Gongylodes comes UNDER the "Empusa" family classification. So if it was a gongylus gongylodes it would have been of this Empusa group.

Yet if it wasn't a wandering violin and another kind of Empusa altogether, okay fine :)

  • man idolomantis diabolica is awesome...

  • Butterfly, Bird, And Mouce Killer! It Tried Snake too

  • -David Antony Clark

    -sacred sites

    -The Abbey and the Thorntree

  • damn!

  • ¡Genial!

  • Just loved these things since I was little

  • Hey! Thanks for your help :)

Abbey and the Thorn Tree is beautiful

    x

  • 4:35 is the distinctive Gongylus Gongyodes (gon-GUY-lus GON-guh-LOH-dees)

certainly the most bizarre looking mantis, surpassing even the orchid mantis in terms of effective camouflage and alien appearance.

Oh yes... my brother shivered at this "wandering violin" because of it's looongggggggg thin thorax.

I'll buy Olly one, and show him it at dinner. Or place the tuneless twig beside his breakfast bowl or near his pillow in the morning...

    He'd love that.

  • that is mean!

i had to twitch while reading this....

    ahhh they are so creepy

  • ??? gonglus? looks nothing like one atall its in a completely different order

  • At 2:14 looks like the pink Orchid Mantis is sprinting

    2:39- AMAZING!

I love this video, the music is incredible. But the mantises are wonderful.

The walking leaf-mantises made my brother squirm HA! So did the gongylus gongylodes (aka "wandering violin"/ "indian rose mantis")

especially when they were doing the dance to mimicking leaves in wind

He also cringed at the 2nd mantis in the video (the pseudopupils! lol)

3:23, he also nearly cried at the doormouse! Scariest for him is 4:24

    xxxx
