  • I rode in a retired 1983 Flxible 35 at the Hollister Fair a few years back. It was leaking and smoking but running!

  • Man thats one smokey bus on start up.

  • Metroktransit,do you have an idea of how your friend bought his and how much they cost to maintain? WMATA has taken my love (Flx B) out of service with the rest of them heading to NJ to be scrapped, i can almost drive and I dont mind letting my parent take the title even if i pay (have 7k stored away). Its a shame that they act like these beauties are done and useless.

  • Flxible Metro C # was/is better.

  • metroktransit, How did the owner get 3529 when it is supossed to be in active service in New Jersey?

  • MetroKTransit has answered that.

  • Flxible Metro B 40102-6T #3529 (ex-NJ Transit) was built in 1989.

The engine is a Detroit Diesel 6V92TA diesel engine fitted with an electric starter (originally had an air starter on the engine as I found out).

The transmission is an Allison V-731 ATEC.

  • do you need a CDL to drive one of these?

  • Here in my state (Virginia) you don't need one if it's your personal vehicle...I don't know about everywhere else though...

  • Yes

  • If its my personal vehicle? I'm just curious, cause I don't know how it works in Ohio.

  • I'm not sure check with your local licensing office

  • where do you guys keep the bus? cuz im goin to be gettin a bus my self and i have no idea how or where to keep it

  • My friend keep his buses Upstate Florida, New York.

  • so this has an electric starter vs the old air starter?

  • When he first brought the bus, It had an air starter. My friend took the bus to Long Island to get the bus fixed up and that's when his family member of his change the starters.

  • where do you guys keep the bus cuz im goin to be gettin a bus my self hopefully

  • Man I'm jealous as hell. I bet its easy to get hold of these buses where you live. Where buses practically grow on trees. but where I live its a little harder to come by. Great vid though.

  • Again, I see myself BUT that 3529 sounds great on start-up! Great times!

  • who owns this bus now?

  • A Friend of mind. I donate money to him every month.

  • Freak n' awesome.

  • great, just fuckin' great guys.

  • nothin' like Detroit smoke in the mornin'!
