Metroktransit,do you have an idea of how your friend bought his and how much they cost to maintain? WMATA has taken my love (Flx B) out of service with the rest of them heading to NJ to be scrapped, i can almost drive and I dont mind letting my parent take the title even if i pay (have 7k stored away). Its a shame that they act like these beauties are done and useless.
When he first brought the bus, It had an air starter. My friend took the bus to Long Island to get the bus fixed up and that's when his family member of his change the starters.
Man I'm jealous as hell. I bet its easy to get hold of these buses where you live. Where buses practically grow on trees. but where I live its a little harder to come by. Great vid though.
I rode in a retired 1983 Flxible 35 at the Hollister Fair a few years back. It was leaking and smoking but running!

Flxible Metro B 40102-6T #3529 (ex-NJ Transit) was built in 1989.
The engine is a Detroit Diesel 6V92TA diesel engine fitted with an electric starter (originally had an air starter on the engine as I found out).
The transmission is an Allison V-731 ATEC.

Here in my state (Virginia) you don't need one if it's your personal vehicle...I don't know about everywhere else though...
