lol this blew my mind my 3 favorite things together. Watkin, the villan from "we're back", and Sibot. so basically the only thing that is different is the we're back lol.
So this is the guy from Die Antwoord. Interesting. I am gonna be honest and say i dont dig that stuff. But this is just genius. I would trip to this. It's just one of those tracks. But this has interesting production as well as atmosphere. It's left-field hip hop. It's very innovative.
@MicFamiliar I guess he got tired of experimenting and set in his mind "now I'm gonna be famous", then he was famous. Can't blame him, he certainly deserves his spot in the sun. I just wish he could achieve it without having to put on that persona, but humanity is to blame.
For the people asking: The Constructus Corporation released one double CD/comic book hip hop/cyberpunk/fantasy entitled "The Ziggurat". Think of it as some really cool beats and great rhymes all tied into a science fiction themed comic book. The guy rapping is currently the leader of "Die Antwoord" but he has had many, many incarnations and characters over the years. And he's fucking brilliant, as are his collaborators.
for sure constructus is tight as fuck, but die antwoord is not parody. they are being themselves, not sounding like other people. humor does not necessarily equal parody. back in the in the old days, when rap was really rap, most albums had funny songs, or skits, or some other funny shit on them. it wasn't all fake-ass hardness 24/7 all the time. also, most of their songs are actually straight-ahead, they just look and act bizarre. kinda.
Songs from the Mall is a stealth hip-hop classic. If Mr. Jones here had been an American or in the United States when this album hit, perhaps it could have protected us from some of the lyrical turds foisted upon us that same year.
This is so crazy... I learned about Waddy+Sibot+Yo-landi and all them a few weeks ago... Now I can't listen to normal music anymore. Next lvl shit, these ppl are from the future I'm tellin ya!
I love how this song shows of one of Waddy's vocal styles we dont get to hear anymore in Die Antwoord. Imagine him putting on that "gentleman English" accent as Ninja :p
Would you FAGS shut the fuck up with the "normally Im not into rap" BS....there is dope hip hop out there. You ust arent open-minded enough to listen. YOu are piggy backing on the Die Antwoord crazy..TWATS!!! Long live hip-hop!!
@FILMLYFE Yes there is 'dope' hip hop out there but just like any genre there is also a lot of shit that you have to sift through. as hip hop and r'n'b sells well there is A LOT of shit to sift through. i have an ecletic taste and will openly admit hip hop is not my favourite genre but i do like some of it. Now stop acting like a little child being the hard character from behind your keyboard, no one repects your opinion because you haven't earnt respect.
Waddy Jones is a genius. Despite the fact that I generally despise rap music, I adore Waddy Jones. Ummm and you can tell I'm not a rap fan. Most rap music fans wouldn't use the word adore. :)
One of my favorite Waddy tracks. I love that molasses slow beat with the scratching on top (I'm guessing Sibot). As for the Kool Keith comments, I have definitely heard his influence in Waddy's raps before, but on this track it sounds like a straight Gravediggaz influence, particularly RZA's flows on the first album.
Influences aside, I'm very happy for his current success. When I hear projects like this, it makes me realize what a genius chameleon he is. Officially on his jock.
Definitely. I'm not even usually into hip-hop at all, but Waddy blows my mind. One of the most underappreciated and under-recognised artists I've ever known of.

This whole thing is a metaphor for imperialism in Africa. I think. If it is, Waddy just became my favourite rapper.
