@theZommVideo My Dad works in the yard a lot and he just got a brand new iPhone. I was hoping to find a long-range bluetooth incoming call alert device he can use to leave his phone inside the kitchen window sill. Would the Zomm be a good application for that or should I be looking for another device? Any recommendations are definitely welcome!
@fartcollapse The Bluetooth range for ZOMM/iPhone is about 30 feet, so if he'll be moving around a lot outside and away from his phone, it might not be the best option. It's great for taking calls in the car when you're phone is close, but you'd rather be handsfree.
@CNcyanide18 Currently it's at $79.99. Since it has other features, including speakerphone and a panic alarm, it's definitely not just for losing your phone. Let us know if you have any other questions!
@CyanideXCS93 What kind of phone do you have? We recently release our Android app, which uses your phones GPS to let you know where your ZOMM and phone were separated.
@aortablue That's rough! Surely you'll have either your phone or your keys with you - and ZOMM will alert (loudly) so it sometimes helps you find your keys when they are lost!
what what if what what if what what if what what if what what if what what if what what if what what if what what if what what if what what if what what if what what if what what if what what if what what if what what if what what if what what if what what if what what if what what if what what if what what if what what if what what if what what if what what if what what if what what if what what if what what if what if what if what if 99% the comments were funny?
what if some one jacks your phone it if your only let say 10 to 15 feet away? not that cool haha sorry! dig the idea but should have a closer distance on it beside 30 feet.
i swear this is like one of the best creation ever, bluetooth is actually a good way not to forget, although it may drain some of your battery life, but its worth it :)
So what happens when you leave your zomm in the other room? Is there a smaller zomm to warn you that you left your zomm in the other room? I mean wtf.
also if you have to remember to keep your zomm with you, you might as well remember to keep your phone with you. And it's not totally unthinkable that someone could take stuff out of their pockets and lose their zomm somewhere. People lose their keys all the time. ahhh!! scary thought.
@zooomfun There's always the chance you'll forget you ZOMM as well. However, our thought is that you don't usually leave home without your keys - since you'll likely be driving or locking up the house. That's why ZOMM comes with a convenient key chain. Also, if you leave with your phone, but not your ZOMM, ZOMM will still alert - and it's quite loud so you'll probably hear it before you get too far away to go back and retrieve it.
This should really work in reverse. I misplace my phone all the time and can't find exactly where I've put it. When you activate it, it should vibrate and beep more intensely the closer you get to where your phone is. What's the point of telling you that you've left your phone somewhere?
@spectrelives There are devices that do that sort of thing. However, our thought was to make a device that prevented you from getting far enough from your phone that a "finder" is necessary. Since ZOMM will alert when the Bluetooth connection breaks, you're usually within about 30 feet of your phone - usually not far enough away to have forgotten where you left it.
@Alecadexox Those are issues we can't help. If your phone is off or Bluetooth is off, ZOMM will not work. However, we've as you use ZOMM, it becomes habit, and often you don't forget about those things. :)
I think there should be a clip on it as well so if you don't want it on your keys you can at least clip it to your pocket or something. Cool little device though, I think my mom could definitely use a zomm..hey wait..that wasn't supposed to rhyme..
@xSilentKhaosx Im positive that theres a app called MobileMe that works even if your phone is offline. As long as you make an account and you have a buddy that has the app, you enter your pass/user and it pinpoints where you iphone is on the GPS. This could be usefull as well too.
The reminder at 30 feet sounds good. Then I could backtrack the last few minutes instead of coming back the next day. But I would prefer a smaller tag that I can put on umbrellas, scarves, hats, and all the other items I am likely to forget in a public place. Then I would be comfortable spending more money on an umbrella that keeps me dry, a scarf that keep me warm, or a hat I really like because I won't be afraid of losing it and having wasted my money.
Yea, but what if you lose your key chain? Do they have a device that will locate the device that locates the cell phone? And what if you lose that device?!?
@pufferfish87 Actually, Bluetooth headsets which send a signal back and forth to the phone, therefore draining your battery. ZOMM doesn't work in the same fashion, so your phone battery lives on!
umm if it only beeps when you get further away from it, and doesn't beep when u get close to your phone...then zoom cant really help you find your phone, can it...
yepp, keep your bluetooth on constantly and let hustlers hack your bluetooth, great idea. :)
