My favorite Thin Lizzy song. Been listening to them today for the first time in awhile, still sounds and gives me memories of the first time that I listened to it.
Brian Downy is Irish... Gary Moore Irish... Phil, born in England but raised in Dublin, Irish mother. Scott Gorham, American..... I'd say Irish band. The greatest Irish band.
@TheHarv1000 Of course you have to say that they're an Irish band but their best hits were when they had the Glaswegian guitarist Brian Robertson on board 'Jail Break','The Boys Are Back In Town','Don't believe a Word' and of course some great playing on Live and dangerous. Jammed with him when I was a kid
I forgot how good this song was until I was leaving work one day (I work part time at a school). I put it on (loud) as I was leaving the parking lot. All the kids and their parents probably thought I was crazy...and I couldn't give a shit.
one of the baddest rock songs ever. i can't decide if i prefer this raw version or the album version. also the meanest solo by gary moore; rougher than ten aimless heavy metal solos combined. classic lynott narative & lyricism; it's all there.

I like this earlier draft of the lyrics for this song. Gary really rips on this too

The junkie opens his pack in a smack? I think Phil could've run with that one

@matthewb2015 surely he's singing "the junkie opens his packet of smack" not "pack in a smack"?

Funny how the lyrics originally talked about heroin addicts. I like this version much better.
