  • Respect for that set and for your status. I'm also lifetime natural and happen to agree with the high rep approach for squats. I weigh 154lbs and often use 225 for 20 plus reps on a regular basis. Just recently I did 30 with 225, and have a personal best of 33reps with this weight. Some great stuff you've designed, by the way ... well done!!

  • very nice that was strong

  • perfect form !.

  • I`ve recently started the 20 rep straight squats and find it brutally hard..In the past I have done 315 for 33 set of 8,took me around 45 min. Recently done 405 for 42 reps in 20 min.I have really liked just giving myself 30 min. with a given weight for as many reps as possible.I prefer the higher rep squats over the doubles or triples that powerlifting requires.Total respect for both though,as long as your squatting..

  • wow this man is powerful..

  • anyone notice the average juicehead doesnt even squat?!

  • @Cmac1000rr So true!!! You are dead on....these juice heads train like pansies. This video is hardcore!

  • how much protein do you take in a day?. So you use whey protein powders?

  • @firepanther7777

Yes, inexpensive whey protein is the ONLY supplement I use.

  • @firepanther7777 What does protein or whey have to do with strength?

  • Do you do your leg presses and squats on the same day workout?

  • @firepanther7777

Yes, usually on the same day. Once in a while I will do leg presses exclusively for a few workouts, just for a change-up.

  • good job

  • VERY impressive!

  • awful music though

  • yes your a good squatter nice and deep but do you put drug free on just to get the arguments going ...coz it looks like it works

  • can you dunk? please try. i am sure you can. you must have been asked this b4 by high jumpers, etc, but please tell me, can you dunk.

  • Isn't it nice to know that YOU EARNED the results you have gotten through hard work, perseverence, and being consistent? Some under-fed ego types get their results with a NEEDLE! Guess they didn't get enough attention as children and this is the only way they can feed their little egos.Maybe if they had a little strength of character to go AGAINST what most other cheaters do ,they would be able to HONESTLY look in the mirror and know what they see in it is what they TRULY earned!

  • even on growth hormones and anabolics you still have to bust your ass for results so i don't even understand wth your saying, these guys don't just take shit and wake up jacked the next morning (the ones who are really in it for bodybuilding put as much or even more effort into then a lot of other guys)

  • Then do it WITHOUT steroids.

  • Real bodybuilding shouln't become your job,it should add to your life, not take away from it.Most natural bodybuilders understand this without having to be told.If you have to use drugs to compete and you KNOW it's wrong, why would any SANE person do it? Sin is Sin,and drugs are drugs, doesn't matter if it's steroids or crack,it's still wrong. If you cheat in this part of your life,it leaves me to wonder in what other areas of your life you are cheating!Work hard and leave the results up to NATURE!

  • Right on! Do the best you can with what God has given you! Don't take short cuts and cheat by filling yourselves with drugs. See how great you can become WITHOUT being a drug using cheater.

    Stay natural buddy!

  • your retarded. they try so hard in life to take hormones and anabloics while other people actually work fortheir results. even if they dont wake up with bulging muscles, theyre still bullshitting bodybuilding

  • ok buddy chill. if anything ur the ones with underfed egos u feel u NEED to prove to the world and urselves that u can do amazing things without "assistance" i kno users that arent out to prove anyything but compete against others who have that aid and b the best they can. not do it "NATURAL" and wave ur cock around all day how ur so great cuz u did it "NATURAL" wtf does that mean anyway? is anything really natural nowadays?

  • Increase the weight : ) And is it okay to rest between reps? I just wanna know cause I would love to take rests, feel like I gotta have em sometimes when I squat. I usually keep the weight down and go right from top to bottom without pause. Miserable as hell I am, though.

  • GREAT!!1

  • Then how is it that i increased my bench by 40 lbs and didn't gain size? The answer is because i didn't increase my caloric and protein intake. You have to up your nutrition as well. You can get a lot stronger and not gain much muscle mass...i'm talking from experience. Nutrition determines how i look way more than my lifting.

  • of course you dot have to gain weight to get stronger

there are always people that weigh less and are stronger than you right?

you just become more like them

  • Actually i'm usually the one that weighs less and is stronger...that's my point, i gain strength really quickly without gaining much mass. It's because I lack in nutrition due to my busy schedule.

  • not neccesarily. actually its a very good sign of great nutrition

it means you are eating healthy and and very lean and pure muscle

trust me, being strong without gaining weight is ideal

as long as you get your protein

how much do you weigh and how much do you squat?

  • There is NO room for cheaters.

    Stay natural buddy!

  • I wouldn't be proud to be a cheater. Do these same people brag about a good test score when they used their cheat notes? Then on top of that, they don't tell anyone they used the cheat notes, but they want to take credit for their "good score".

  • I love your comments! You have GREAT style!

  • wtf is the prob with steroids anyways dont u guys kno theyve become a supplment in all sporrts and areas of life demandin near super performances at the professional level? B4 u all attack me for steroids ive never taken em and i have grown very strong and big withotut em i can squat 405 for 10 bench 245 for 10 deadlift 475 for 10; BUT i kno if i ever wanna compete with the best i kno wat ill have to do. ANyway Good Work bastionhead thats some amazing squats man ATG quads must b huge!!

  • You sound pretty angry with all the swearing you do,but that is probably another area that you are in denial over.Anyway,in what way is cheating ever a good and honest thing to do?Is some cheating in life acceptable to you and your conscience?Where is the ''line'',or isn't there one? Isn't bodybuilding about health and adding LIFE to your years? Why is this even an argument? When do you acknowledge when something is wrong in your life...only when you get caught?C'mon be honest with yourself.

  • Your right about one thing in your comment...it was good work bastionhead! At least you saw and acknowleged that ONE TRUTH!

  • Using steroids is a disgrace to the honest hard working people that do it naturally.

  • The people that use steroids, the LEAST they could do is admit it. I will always find it cheating to use steroids in ANY sport.

  • "A bigger muscle is a stronger muscle"...that's bullshit. I have seen guys not on roids whose legs are way bigger than his and cannot even come close to squatting that much. There are many factors, but the guys with the biggest muscles are not always the strongest (roids or not). It seems like the full ROM guys are actually the smallest in the gym...it's just my experience.

  • I think people should lift weights and play sports WITHOUT using drugs. See what YOU can do, NOT what can you and DRUGS do.

  • Paid me a compliament????? When?

If you are natural...great! But, why support these drug using lying cheating cowards?

  • You have no integrity, I wouldn't be proud of that.

  • The idea is to see what you can do WITHOUT being a cheating drug user.

Lift weights WITHOUT steroids...THEN you can take credit for your accomplishments.

  • I think it's simply that you get more growth with less effort when on the juice. If all you care about is being all buffed up to try to impress people, why work any harder than necessary?

  • "his legs are the perfect size to lift 335 22 times, no bigger, no smaller" True, all other factors--such as glycogen saturation, whether the muscle or CNS is rested or fatigued, etc--being equal.

Curiously, do I see a lot of roiders who don't use weights any heavier than me (reps with ~400lbs on squat and deadlift, 300lbs on bench), but have way more muscle.

  • BULL-FUCKING-SHIT.

Put 3/4 of your normal weight on the bar, go ass-to-grass to failure and assess the degree and location of soreness.

Oh, but wait--you'll probably injure a knee down in the hole because you have been habitually avoiding that part of the ROM.

Maybe if you can convince me not to do full squats, that would make you less of a pussy. I don't want to be a pussy, so I'm going to just stick with the full squats. But thanks for the advice.

  • Why aren't your legs bigger then?

  • Because I do not and have never taken anabolic steroids.

  • excellent style mate, best i did was 25 for 310lbs perfect style like yours. it fucked my knees up i now walk round like douglas baader

  • hes not skinny hes just wearing a big as shirt

  • skinny and low weights lmao.

  • Dude--can't you tell I'm just toning? I don't want to to lift heavy an get all muscular bound--so of course it's light weight and high reps for toning.

  • lol... just to let you know what your doing isnt body building. you can never be compared to a bodybuilder, an avrage somalian has more mass then you. so dont be so proud of DRUG FREE BS.. nice music though

  • Intellectual sophistication really comes shining through on some of these comments. I wonder, with all the Ronnie Coleman and Jay Cutler videos out there for you to jack off to, why are you wasting your time here on my channel?

  • typical youtube jackass. good job on these bastionhead

  • That my friends, is the proper way to do squats.

You do that shit below parallel. I love watching the pussies at the gym (When I did, I work out at home now... fuck the gyms, ghetto works are the way to go) and those bitches would always stop like 8 inches before parallel and put like #250 on the bar like they are king shit.

    Bunch of douchebags.

Keep lifting man. Fuck anyone that says otherwise.

  • That pretty much sums it up! Thanks and good training to you.

  • widow makers are extremely difficult (physically as well as mentally) but the mass you gain from them (with the correct food scheme) is incredible.

I've done "squat and milk" routing twice, and those are brutal but rewarding old school methods out there.

anyways, great lifting mate, keep up the great work and fuck the haters and roid-monkeys.

    cheers.

  • HAHA! I love it! Great lifting!

  • Skinny nigger, get some roidz in ya!

  • nice set....ecspeacially with that set of chicken legs

  • look how fucking small this guy is ahhah, take some steroids and get big

  • Uhm wow..so where's the hardcore throw-up bucket?

  • Throw up? I usually finish my sets smiling!

  • Nice set. When i do my lower body workout, squats in particular, I make sure to hold my breath during the rep. It helps maintain your core, and can help prevent back injury. That helps even more when doing upper body workouts. I read that in a bodybuilding mag.

  • its not recommended to hold ur breath because its possible that you could faint

  • So you breathe in, in the middle of a rep? I've never seen that before. Alot of people slowly exhale.. but breathe in? Try being in the down position during a squat and take a breath. It's extremely difficult.

  • yes you breathe in when you go down, exhale when you go up.. holding your breath isnt good

  • That's funny because the gentlemen in the video holds his breath until he begins his upward motion. If you don't hold your breath while going down you can severely throw off the balance in your chest cavity. I've been lifting for years and never have I taken breaths while in a downward motion.

  • ughh, Im probably getting mixed up with other excercise where you do the breathing etc.

so yea i geuss you do hold your breath

  • Holy shit mate thats fucking hardcore

Do you find ultra high work like this has packed on a lot of size on your legs?

I'd love to even be able to reach that many reps but once I hit over 5 reps with any decent weight by back rounds forward and the weight moves and makes me too unstable.

Damn, great work are you on bodyspace?

  • I felt like throwing up just watching you! lol

    Incredible intensity, well done :-)

  • Great job man! hreat inspiration :D! stay clean :)

  • how many sets do you normally do?

  • I usually do a couple of warm-up sets, then one like this, then one or two heavier sets.

  • Ever do 5 x 5's or 60-80% of 1RM speed clusters to build your rate of force development?

  • I don't use any specific formulas, but I do switch over to higher weight/lower rep training sometimes.

  • Man! Your badass.. I've been lifting for about 8 months with free weight.. turned 17 in the middle of those 8 months.. but seriously dude... your badass!! I idol you.. Watching all your vids your a monster.

  • This might sound kind of stupid, but how the hell do you keep your back arched through a set that lasts that long?

My background is more in PL/low bar squats, but even with high bar squats, when the reps start getting really high and/or the set lasts too long, I have a real hard time maintaining my back in extension. I actually terminated a "widowmaker" set today at 18 because I couldn't justify doing the last two reps in shit form.

  • Looking at your form in one of your videos, I see that you have a lot more forward lean than I do, especially at bottom. That is not necessarily a problem under most circumstances, but it sure will fatigue the lower back on high-rep sets. All I can say is to try raising the bar up higher on the traps, and perhaps wear shoes with a slightly raised heel (i.e. running shoes). Unfortunately, some people are proportioned favorably for squats, while others struggle with biomechanical issues.

  • Make sure to look at the vid that says "high bar squats" in it, the one where the first half is high bar in oly shoes, the second half is low bar. I think it's the only video I have of me doing high bar squats.

I have a video in my profile showing bottom position squats done in the rack powerlifting style, and that will obviously be more bent over...

Either way, I should snag a video of me doing a set of widowmakers at some point in the near future, see if reality matches perception.

  • Incredibly impressive!

20 reps squats (and +) are very, very difficult and few people incorporate them into their routine.

    Great work Bastion.

  • Thanks very much!

  • Bastion, you are a freak

  • If loving high-rep squats is wrong, I don't wanna be right!

  • that's a good video.

  • Good job buddy! Keep up the good work!

  • Quality ATG squats!!

You must have a really high V02 max to handle that much workload. Perhaps your biking lays the cardio vascular foundation for this impressive feat.

    Good job.

  • Thanks. Funny you mention my VO2 max--actually, it is OK but not great. Keep in mind that high-intensity work like this is anaerobic, not aerobic--I'm operating at an O2 deficit from the first rep, so the main reason for my elevated HR and respiration is clearing the rapidly-accumulating acid from the muscles via the blood by breathing out CO2, not necessarily getting O2 to the muscles. True, biking up the hills here keeps my base fitness at an acceptable level. Thanks for watching.

  • return of ponytail boy EPIC FAIL.

  • Roidsr4gods i hope u die in cancer of hearth attack some day

  • ...

  • You created an account to chase me around on YOUTUBE, to get me to stop. LOL!

  • still an inspiration!

  • weak...

  • ...

  • That's a very bad comment. 20 rep squats with a decent weight is by no way weak.

  • i know niggas in in 11th grade that can do tht and no im not bragging about shit i cant do im jus saying y put a video up lke ur so strong

  • Because for an average person, a 335 pounds ATG-squat 22 times, is near impossible, and very impressive. I don't want to have to refer to you by your screen name.

  • i know dudes 5'3 like 110 pnds doin 300

  • To 'YourReallyDumb' - I highly doubt you know a guy who is 5'3 110 lbs. and can do 300 pound full range of motion squats for 22 consecutive reps.

I would really like to see you post a video of that guy.

  • ok i will then ull look like a stupid bitch and u already are becus y would u post a comment saying who its too when u clicked the reply button and you know it shows up in my mail dumb fuck

  • You really are a rude little shit. Shut your mouth until you post the video to back it up.

  • great to see you back back squatting. :p

  • Awesome work man, keep it up!
