The Lezgi are one of a number of nations who live in Dagestan. The other main ones include the Kumyk, Avar, Dargin, Tabasaran, Botlikh and Nogay. There is a large Chechen population in parts of the west particularly in Khasav Yurt.
Pierre Zalloua 2008 National geographic Phoenician study (Biggest study on Lebanon) Haplogroup J1: Non-Phoenician Levant = 29.0% Inland Lebanon = 27.3% Coastal Lebanon = 17.2% National geographic study said clearly that J1 was in the region for 17,000years lived along with J2 (just like your own people are also J1 & J2---DUH!) Wells et al (2001) J1 = 30% J2 = 30%
Yes, Arabic came to Dagestan after the Islamic invasion--so why are you invoking Shirvani Arabic as proof that J originated in Arabia and not in the north? That's pretty stupid.
Lezgin were the most Southern people of Deagestan they were the first people to be encountered by the Muslims, which means migration trials/invasions usually take the same avenues.
Example, Phoenicians settlet West Siciliy & Southern Spain the Muslims followed them to same exact regions, if it happnened it could have happenned before.
If this subject irritates you for whatever reason...I am willing to stop talking to you....without the need for insults...
Who cares when they were encountered by Muslims? It's irrelevant. The Lezgins, like the Avars and Dargins speak a Northeast Caucasian language as their indigenous language. And it is roughly around that area that J1-(dys388=13) finds its highest Y STR diversity, indicating that it's the geographic origin of J1.
My Jewish friend yes its matters its migration routes that repeat the same patterns, because you don't just walk on mountain peaks their are a few routes from people passing to the Caucas from the South.
Str diversity is higher in the USA (for almost any gene) than any where on Earth, does that mean they originated in the USA lol
I am J1 you should know better before you come up with this non-sense, 2008 studies clearly confirm the logic that J1 spread to the Caucas from the South.
Calm down, skipper, no one's trying to throw you into the sea.
It's a political concept that recognizes what most historians of the middle east already recognize, which is that the Christians of Lebanon are the most direct descendants of the indigenous pre-Arab population--the Semitic Phoenicians.
Why bring up the Ghassanids at all? They left south Arabia in the 3rd century. This conversation is about the genetic makeup of indigenous population of Lebanon, not the Ghassanids.
Because I feel insulted by your inaccurate claim, Ghassanids are a big, if not the biggest population within modern Christian Lebanon. Mount Lebanon was a Semitic hinterland settled by our Aramean cousins (Non-Phoenicians) that we also mingled with.
Phoenicianism is a concept that many embrace as an idea, nobody can push us into the sea. We are resiliant J1 people. we survived an Islamic invasion & everything that came after it. We are pure Semites we will stay in Lebanon even after WW3
Guess what? Ghassanidism in Lebanon is a political concept, too! congratulations, your red herring fails. It's also something that some Lebanese have decided to associate themselves with. In any event, it's mostly associated with Greek orthodox/Greek catholics--definitely not the biggest with Christian Lebanese. Not nearly.
And again--foreign Ghassand south Arabians have nothing to do with the indigenous Phoenicians and Aramaeans of Lebanon and their genetic makeup.
You should study our history before making up stuff!
Batrak Sfeir & most the MARONITE Batraks of the last 500years are Ghassanids, many Ghassanids don't have a problem being Ghassanid Pheoenicians or Ghassanid whatever. You live in Phoeneicia you are Phoenician.
Just like Russian, Ethiopians & bedouins live in ISrael & become Israelis. Arameans are our brothers in Semitism, religion & blood so I don't care what outsiders say.
Are you trying to stereotype yourself as hate spreading guy?
Yes, J2 is the modal haplotype of Lebanon. So why are you arguing? To be annoying? Who cares if the south Arabian origin Ghassanids are mostly J1--they're irrelevant to the indigenous population of Lebanon.
And according to Semino (2004) Lebanon is 10% J1, and Al-Zahery (2003), Lebanon is 12.9% J1.
And according to the Zalloua dataset, the J1 Christians don't have the Beduin, Arab, or Galilee haplotypes, which indicates their indigenous non-Arabian origin.
Because they are my people, We are proud of our origin, whats wrong with that?
Only Jews can have their own studies?
Ghassanids are a special class within Lebanon & we spent lots of time & $ studying this so either respect us or ignore us. I don't question why you Israelis make Cohanim studies...I find it interesting & wish them well....Is that alot to ask from you?
Jews are an example yourself being a Zionist you should understand where I am coming from.
South Arabians have their genes in Lebanon & every mideastern nation get used to it, even in Israel (most Yemenite Jews & some Israeli Christians/muslims) are genetic South Arabians
Denying the well docimented & genetically backed South Arabian Semitic influence in Canaan is plain Antisemitism
"And according to the Zalloua dataset, the J1 Christians don't have the Beduin, Arab, or Galilee haplotypes, which indicates their indigenous non-Arabian origin"
You are talking Zalloua 2006, Zalloua 2008 study is by far bigger & he clearly said J1 is shared by Christians & Muslims. Out of 5 TV crew who did on site reading of their results 2 were J1 both were Christians.
"...he clearly said J1 is shared by Christians & Muslims."
LOL How does that contradict what I said? You aren't using your noggin'...read it again. It's especially weird since I was referring to them as "J1 Christians"--hello?? If you're confused, I'm using the haplotypes as defined in Nebel (2001) and (2002).
And this is irrelevant to the fact that the modal haplogroup of Lebanon is J2 and you were trying to be misleading.
J2 is 28% of Lebanon its the Mesopotamian portion of Lebanon (Arameans, Assyrians & some Neolithic farmers that became part of teh phoenicians)
Arameans & Assyrians ofcourse also have J1, but they had more J2 than any Semitic population, so its only common sense to link the 28% J2 to them (according to Zalloua) or 30% according to Wells.
J2 is also shared by Muslims-Christians. The only people creating your lies are people who are trying to divide us as Lebanese Semites (AKA our enemies)
I love Dagestan area. My uncle lives there and I loved ever summer visiting him there. Such natural and human wonder makes you see that there truly a god.

J1 amongst Christian Ghassanids that is!
Most genetic studies have J2 as the most common gene in Lebanon.
Wells (2001) had J1 = 30%
J1 is lowest amongst Lebanese Druze (10%)--Semino (2004 I think) highest amongst Lebanese Ghassanids(60%)
Zalloua had J1 (mainly coasts) ---17.8%
If you understand Arabic watch an LBC clip on youtube out of % TV-crew tested on site 2 of them both Christian tested as J1

You can make studies on south Arabians all you want, but they have nothing to do with the genetic makeup of the indigenous Lebanese.

Apparently you know something we don't.
Ghassanids (Maronite & Greek Orthodox)
Hamdanids (Muslims & Christians)
Banu Amilah (majority of the Shia)
Himyarites (some Sunnis)
All these are South Arabian Semites & a similar number of Mesopotamian Semites also moved into Lebanon & the natives.
Lebanon is 100% Semitic outsiders have no say or opinion in our land.
