So glad it's here for all to see ... I guess that's part of what helped lift these guys and Hunter to receive and play these songs that flow beautifully through generations of time to wherever we may conceive.
Out to change the world (myself included) Peace and love y'all
before my friend AJ passed away, he added this song's lyrics as all the information on his myspace. I think he was trying to leave it for his friends as a message, cuz he knew his time was wrapping up. Every time i hear it i think of him and all the awesome times we had on tour. What a guy.
"Let it be known there is a fountain that was not made by the hands of men..." What a profound statement! I have indeed reached out my hand when my cup is empty, and passed it around when full. I have seen what the universe can provide, and so has every true Deadhead...
i never liked the dead upon first hearing them either. I love em now tho. beautiful chillin music ...and ripple has a timelesss ound . i can listen to it over and over again and never get tired. It justr keeps better. and those other users are prebubescent troglodyes anyway.
Could someone please explain to me what is so good about this band, I just don't get it. Perhaps you could help me appreciate it more. Pretty funny that he calls his fans dead-heads... it almost sounds like an insult.
Well lukesatriani if you need it explained to you why this band was so "great" ("good" would actually be an understatement) then you are right "you don't get it". But hey, that's ok! To each his own. There was really nothing "funny" about Jerry and Co. referring to their fans as "Dead Heads". Hence the name "Grateful Dead". It was not an insult. It was just what people who dug the Grateful Dead were called. You had to see them in concert to appreciate them my friend. Peace! ~Ted
i disagree with your statement that u had to see them in concert to appreciate them. i was too young to see the grateful dead live, and they are without a doubt my favorite band...ive seen bobby and phil live though, its great but i know its just not the real thing. so true though what u said about "explaining the grateful dead"
I think when I said that "You had to see them in concert to appreciate them" I guess I was directing that comment at "lukesatriani". You are correct! Younger fans can still appreciate the Dead's music through Bobby and Phil. Peace and thanks for your comments jazzmanppl!~:)Ted
Perhaps it's because they were more than just a band. They were friends, elder statesmen of an American cultural movement; alchemists that could spin reality into a special place where everybody was equal, and happily so, even if only for a few hours...until the next show. Many, many people found a unique joyfulness while immersed in the Dead's music, with their fellow Deadheads, that was truly moving. Their recordings help us conjure up a little bit of that magic. The community still thrives.
Dude, see a Dead show, or Ratdog, or Phil's band. The experience may help your understanding. Also, check out their song Throwing Stones, you may be impressed...
Hello BiBo24! Yes you can get the entire DVD of this concert. Its called "Dead Ahead". The DVD features this entire Halloween night concert. Peace!~Ted
I think in terms of LIVE dead.... Ripple, He's Gone, and Uncle John's Band are my favorite GD songs. Truckin' and Dire Wolf are still tops for album tracks. Greetings Ted, thanks again for the great post.
Thank you for letting me post my video here. Dont waist you time with people like zara they are not and never will be our kind.Oh what I want to know is ( are you kind?)!
Alcohol? drugs? I don't "pour into" myself either of these things, and indeed alcohol is a drug. Certainly, lots of people who have/do use(d) psychedelics listen to the Grateful dead, for reasons I am certain you will not understand as you appear to have an anti-drug view point.
The Grateful Dead heal with music, perhaps you should listen to more of the music to help you control your need to spread hateful and insulting words; I do.
I just wish that, there were 'dead' pills... 'CSN&Y' pills, and 'Arlo' pills... it would save soooooooo much time... but then I would need a 'youtube' pill... and then...
People who like this shit care nothing about precision and accuracy. Their outlook on life matches their taste in music. They are tone deaf, inarticulate and sloppy. Not to mention that they care nothing about their mind and the countless gallons of alchohol and drugs poured into them in order to enjoy this shit!
Wow zarathaz1!! I don't even know where to start with your dumb ass comment. Obviously you have never seen the Grateful Dead live in concert to make such a generalized statement about who enjoys their music. Also, the Dead went to great lengths to ensure that their music was precise and accurate with grueling sound checks. How was that last Barry Manilow concert anyway? You are a member of his fan club aren't you? Don't lie now! :)
I have another more suggestion for you zarathaz1. You should worry more about the precision and accuracy of your spelling (i.e. offence and alchohol) before leaving anymore idiotic rants on any videos. May I suggest GetGED(dot)com? Just my two cents!! No offense not "offence" (unless you are British, which I doubt) ... LOL
ha ha. I mean, there was more ignorance and stupidity in Zarathaz's one post than I have seen on all of YouTube. Pardon me, but I have to go work on my "tone deafness, inarticulation, and sloppiness"!!!
if you are going to judge a band or its fans by drug and alcohol use, you will severely limit your options. i hope you like Celine Dion, Michael Bolton, and Miley Cyrus... 'cause that's all you can listen to after judging the Dead and its fans so inaccurately.
There was absolutely NOTHING like going to a Grateful Dead concert. I sucessfully attended 37 Grateful Dead shows from 1976 to 1995. That's not much compared to some of my friends who attended 100's of shows. The last show I went to was at at Chicago's Soldier Field on July 9, 1995. (It was their last show as well.)
The Jerry grin gets me every time. So nice!
