Anyone who is willing to express themselves for who they are, to me, is a hero. Not many people would be able to risk their lives and their freedom to stand up for what they beleive in. If you think it's wrong then you are a coward. What if you were trying to stand up for what you beleive in and you got shot down by the people who you thought were their for you your entire life? Some parts of America do not except homosexuality because they do not understand it. Open your eyes and think.

Gays do not have a right to force their views on private institutions period. The first Amendment protects the right of private institutions and individuals to share community with who they please and when they please. It is called freedom of association and it has always been respected in this country.

they are not forcing their views. they are simply just want people to understand that they to can love christ, and be gay at the same time. And they just want equality for those who have to live in the closet because they are scared to be kicked out of the university they are attending. I do however respect your opinion on this subject.

Equality of what? Private schools have a right to chose who they want to join their university and who they do not. Schools rejecting homosexual students is not discrimination, it is freedom of speech.

by equality i mean, that everyone gets treated fairly. A university, i don't think, has the right to kick someone out of school because of their sexual orientation. That is discrimination, and especially if it;s a christian school. I go to church myself and was raised christian, and even though my family doesn't support it, and that is how i was raised, i know for a fact that it was driven into me as a child to love everyone, no matter what. So schools should not discriminate.

If the school is getting their funding from private individuals what gives you or anybody the right to force them to accept people they do not want? What if a practicing satanist wanted to join, should a private christian university be forced to acomodate him as well?

i would say yes.... no school should discriminate. everything i have heard you say to other ppl on youtube, and reading some of the stuff you have on your youtube page, i must say, that some of it sounds plain ignorant. You say that ppl have freedom of speech but here you are slamming down everything i say, like i said i respect your opinion, and i'll leave it at that. But you are being a tad bit hypocritical. Did you even watch the documentary EQUALITY U?

Well the law disagrees with you so it is still legal for a private school to pick and chose who they want for their university. So because I do not agree with what you have to say and show the flaws in your thinking, that means I don't support freedom of speech? Wow you really do not under freedom of speech or the rights you have in America. Please take a civics class before you speech about "equality" or "discrimination". Yes I saw the documentary and I do not agree with what gay students.

Technically, they were honoring those that had committed suicide because the pressure that had been put on them was too great for them to handle. At least in this promo.

The idea that the LDS Church hates gays is ridiculous. It view the act of homosexuality as a sin, much like the majority of Christian churches. What do you expect? BYU allows gays and lesbians to remain at the school? Then afterwards, allow students to engage in premarital sex, smoke, drink, use other drugs, steal, etc.? Each of those acts are viewed as a sin by the LDS Church and other Christian churches. By condoning it, the Church would be hypocritical. It loves the sinner, but hates the sin.

If that was the case then they would allow them to stay in school. By kicking them out, all they are saying is that they "hate the sinner". If they truly wanted to help, they should know that the only one who can truly change someone is God. I've known very religious people who asked God to change them or help them. God hasn't changed them, because He made that person gay for a reason. They are gay because God wanted them to be gay, and he loves them as much as anyone else

2006 Rider and ex-LDS here! From age 15-19 I was told that if I didn't remove my self from this "lifestyle" I would be excommunicated. I was told God does not love me as I am and upon excommunication I would be left in the "outer darkness", I would not be with my loved ones in "heaven". Imagine what this does to a child when the person who teaches them about God tells them that they are no longer loved by Him? How is the LDS showing Christ-love when they do that? Sounds like HATE to me.

I think that it's ridiculous that a group that was permitted onto BYU campus in 2006 and then violated campus policy should be disappointed that they weren't invited back.

I supppose they aren't necessarily /lying/. It could be a misunderstanding. But then again, you'd think they'd have done enough research to eliminate misunderstandings. They make it seem like Mormons have a problem with same-sex attraction (which they don't--check their official website under the "newsroom" link) rather than with having sex outside of marriage.
