The idea is that schroedinger, like the CAT in the schrodingers cat experiment, is supposed to be two things at once. The actual cat was supposed to be alive and dead at the same time, because we could not see the cat to determine which it was. As such, it could be both at the same time, and only upon observation would it beome one rather than the other. This manifests in schrodinger being neither noticeably dog or CAT, in two places at once (everywhere and no where) and so on.
