  • all im thinking is get this guy to a hospital!!!!!

  • dont send a man to do a womans job ;)

  • Tears in my eyes really come when they finally work together Jets & Sharks to carry Tony's body away :(

  • I've always searched for the original book do you know were I could find it? help would be nice

  • @27jengirl I have it. Look it up on Amazon.com or borrow it from the library. West Side Story A Novelization by Irving Shulman. It should be a white cover with a picture of Bernardo and two Sharks doing that famous one leg in the air thing with the classic fire escape title. I'd recommend borrowing form the library first and then buying it. That's what I did. I lied, I got it for Christmas, but I'm sure my dad bought it from Amazon.

  • @StrawMaiden Thanks I'm so glad that we looked it up at the library they got it

  • @27jengirl My library stank. They ordered it from a different library. I'm gonna go to your library now. Just kidding. I'm glad you got it! It's a great read!

  • Oh I thought Maria was supposed to die too... Darn me not seeing the movie in years...

  • me to.

  • Notice how Chino flinches like 'oh crap' when she points the gun at him...

  • I always cry when Tony dies. He was cute

  • Honestly, i wish there was some kind of epilogue....

  • movie productions aren't made like this classic anymore...

  • Notice how she wears a white dress at the beginning of the movie, and a red one here, at the end.

  • @MsYanaGirl also, in the beginning she asks Anita to dye her dress red.

  • so sad :'(

  • *wipes away tears*

  • The most emotional and beautiful musical of all time, I love how she holds him in her arms and sings somewhere.

  • 5 sec i'm welling up, 10 sec i'm tearing and 15 sec i'm bawling, i'm not exaggerating

  • sad but a classic end of one of hollywood musicals

  • one of the saddest scene in a mo

  • Does anyone think that even though Romeo and Juliet fall in love with each other and marry each other and then die in three days, that this seems to have halved that time.

It just makes me think that this love story is even more unrealistic than Romeo and Juliet.

I am DEFINITELY not dissing about the musical. It was amazing. It's just for me it was really fast!

  • @nocoolnamesjustme But that's what makes it TRUE love.

  • hey there cops..... a little late don't ya think?

  • yeah, hand the gun to the woman who just lost her love. that seems safe.

  • @tayswiftfan131 chino killed him because he killed Bernardo (Maria's brother)&also he wanted to marry Maria :) x

  • @TheBethandAnnie

    Thank you! :)

but did chino killed him from the back? and also did maria saw all of it?

  • @TaySwiftFan131 kind of, it was a quick distance shot and maria held him in her arms when it happened

  • so how did tony die! plz somebody answer me!

  • @TaySwiftFan131 Errr. He got shot

  • Maria: How do you fire this gun Chino? By pulling this little trigger!? How many bullets are left Chino? Enough for YOU? Or YOU?

    ZERO!!!! *runs away*

  • i cry, everytime...

  • It's so sad... and all their fault... I'm seriously crying right now

  • who's lea?

  • @spanchindancer lea michele

  • @WestSideStoryGleek He didn't just die. He was killed.

  • All good storylines in musicals have a bad ending.

  • Tears. They are in my eyes.

  • sometimes I wonder why Natalie Wood never won the oscar for playing Maria. I mean this whole scene should have guaranteed her a win!! I think she should have won just for the four word sentence she says at 2:40, "Don't you Touch him!" It sends shivers down my spine every time i hear that.

  • @BadRubberDuckie69 YEAH! sends shivers down my spine (haha bohemian rhapsody) and tears down my eyes :(

  • @BadRubberDuckie69 She was already nominated that year for playing the leading part in another movie called Splendor in the grass and she was not allowed to be nominated for other movie. Shame because she didn't get the oscar for that role either.

  • @Gisechan I was just thinking about that! This scene always kills me. Her face when she realizes Tony has died is heartbreaking.

  • @BloodyRedFantasy Then again, the jets wouldn't be the way they are if it wasn't for society. So really society killed Tony.

  • @AventuraLuver I don't think you have to think about it that logically. The point is Tony died.

  • Actually if you think about it anita killed tony , not chino.

If she wouldnt have lied to the jets and told them maria was dead , tony wouldnt have went running in the streets yelling. But then again if the jets hadnt mock raped her , she wouldnt have done that.

So really the jets killed tony.

  • Ahh before Hollywood was destroyed <3

  • My favorite movie ever.

  • How come some of the characters like Graziella, Ice and a few of sharks stayed and went in different directions, but everybody else followed behind Tony? Just was curious

  • @pb4ugo012 i think they're supposed to be the ones who aren't ready to give up war as a way of life

  • BRAVO!! :'D

  • I dunno. This scene just doesnt give me tears no offence...

  • I wanted to cry so much when I saw this for the first time, but I was in class so.......=/

  • No matter how many times I watch this movie, I will be reduced to tears each time.

  • i know this has nothing really to do with the movie, but i just realized she contaminated a crime scene by touching the body...

  • @CrystalMatthews93 ..and murder weapon. Silly Maria.

  • @CrystalMatthews93 They have 2 gangs as witnesses as to who shot him. Why do they even need forensics? Furthermore, this is set in 1961, so really...

  • @CrystalMatthews93 at least she didn't spreak her milk all over the place hehe

  • What's with the pavement going from dry to wet to dry to wet?

  • I've seen this film four times and I still cry oceans in this scene. I thought that I wouldn't cry when watching it anymore but no matter how many times I've seen it, this scene will always make me cry. The rivalry between the Jets and Sharks, the love between Tony and Maria...and everything closes with Baby John putting Maria's scarf on her head and both Jets and Sharks walking away carrying Tony.

WSS will always remain my all-time favorite film, till the day god decides to take me away.<3

  • I hate Chino more than ever.

  • @SelenaandShuichifan It wasn't his fault. Chino was never really a villain, or bad guy. He was a kid, blindly (and angrily) thrown into a grown-up situation. The Sharks are constantly bullied, beaten, and belittled, not only by the Jets, but the cops, and society in general. And to add insult to injury, Chino was going to marry Maria, so he obviously had feelings for her, and to hear that you're fiancé is in love with someone you hate (who you just watched kill your best friend)..its just sad.

  • @JohnPerez718 Oh ok, because i watched that movie at school and i missed one part cause i was absent, so when i got to the killing part i was mad.

  • @SelenaandShuichifan Yeahh, I was just in this show (as Chino :p) and I really had to dig deep, and understand the show, inside & out. :)

  • @JohnPerez718 That's awesome, i just re watched that movie right now, now i know who's fault it is. I said i hated Chino cause like i said i missed one part at school and i watch anime shows and i always get angry at the character that tries to keep the character i love away from that person. .')

  • @JohnPerez718 no one's really a bad guy. the jets get treated pretty badly too, but the sharks get treated even worse. i think. i still say that no one in this movie was really a villain, not even the police

  • The greatest death scene. The greatest acting--expressing deep romantic love. The greatest dialogue. The greatest pain. IMO EVER in movie history. (I haven't seen them all, but I've sure seen plenty. DEEP, DEEP, From the toes feeling...I can't even type straight. LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!

  • It's one of the most amazing final scenes. After all the action, singing, dancing, the quiet of their walking away in the end is devastating.

  • The music at about 3:00 when they she is looking around at all of the faces, hoping they'll understand, this is so magical.

  • Maria rocked.

  • I cry when i see that is like romeo & juliet

  • i started crying

geez,i hope i dont cry when we watch this in class

  • (just sayin that could happen, I love West Side Story)

  • What will happen if the daughter of a redneck marries a Muslim....

  • One of the most powerful scenes of this era in my opinion, and some truly stunning acting. I cannot watch without bawling.

  • I love the play more. I didn't really get much out of this movie. The story is still great.

  • West Side Story is my freaking favorite movie! I could watch it over and over and over again!

  • Me: DONT CRY SHAINA DONT CRY!

Tony: I didn't believe hard enough...

    Me: DONT CRY...

    Tony; *Sigh*

Me: NO TONY NO!!!!!! * SOB*

    Boyfriend: Whats wrong?

Me: TONY DIED!! * SOBS MORE*

Boyfriend: Who? * looks at screen* Oh I know I am sorry. I will never ever leave you like that...

Me: Aww thank you I love you!

  • did i really just watch that as i'm about to go to bed? cool.

  • Wow I feel bad for Maria

  • So they finally found a little bit of peace; after Riff was killed and his girlfriend was left to suffer, and Nardo was killed and left Anita waiting for him on the rooftop, and Tony was killed and Maria was left to sing alone. If only the hatred between them could have been changed without so much pain and loss. Such a beautiful movie, they just don't make them like this anymore in my generation...

  • I watched this in Choir class today and I literally started crying my eyes out at this scene, in class!

  • Evrbody complaning about Maria's and Anita's actions:

Maria lost the love of her life and his brother and all because of stupid street fighting

Anita lost the love of her life and the friends of the one that did it tried to rape her

  • never did like though tony ever since he killed bernardo

  • @ravenclawwithatardis he didn't really mean to kill bernardo, like bernardo didn't really mean to kill riff. chino didn't really want to kill tony either, i think. you know, one of those cases when you do something and after you've done it you think "what have I done?"

  • I like the i feel prety part more.

  • @trufiend138 No, you got it mixed up; just look up the story on Wikipedia.

  • Why doesn't she die?!

Juliet kills herself, does Maria not have the balls!?

  • @missKouji Maria stays alive because the character is now transformed... Tony's death brings a reconcilation to the two fighting gangs; and now Maria walks a strong and changed woman despite the death of her true love.

  • @mrmagassi even though she has to go on, i don't think she'll ever love again. not like that anyhow. it really would have been too much if she'd died

  • @missKouji she's dead already

  • SO she was in love with her brother??? sick, but i like it...

  • @trufiend138 ..... are you retarded?

  • not understanding why you'd give a girl a gun RIGHT AFTER her love just got killed....

  • I don't cry everytime I watch this! But it's the fact that this is normal, i.e this COULD actually happen in real life. That's what we touch in our hearts.

  • ooo my goshh i swear when she says "dont you touch him!"

it sounded a bit exorcism like. Freaked me outt

but NO doubt the best ending.

  • ....what the heck? Why didn't Maria die too? That was the point of Romeo and Juliet. Even though they could have lived together, they die together and if one believes in an afterlife, they could be together there. Screw it, I'm gonna go watch Gnomeo and Juliet.

  • @gabygogo505

I know. What's with all the messing with the original story? They're supposed to be rich. Why aren't they all living on Park Avenue instead of slums? And why isn't there a priest arranging all their meetings?

  • @gabygogo505 Gnomeo and Juliet ftw and I'm kinda happy Maria didn't die. I think it would have been a weird/ awkward ending. I think her having a break down was more dramatic and intense.

  • @dancegirl104 does FTW mean for the win? if so :D if not what does it mean?

  • @gabygogo505 Yeah you're right, it's for the win.

  • @gabygogo505 Yeah it means for the win cuz Gnomeo and Juliet is beassstttt

  • ive watched this movie around 20 times and i still cant stop crying

  • so that's it?! They all go their seperate ways and don't support Maria?

  • amazing.... a gunshoot and not even a drop of blood...

  • actually, now that i thing about it i wonder how Lea would have delivered this scene.

  • @xmudbloodd Oh god. Don't say that. How blasphemous!

  • i'm sooo glad this part wasn't in the glee version. this is just..sad. :(

  • Just crying at 2 in the morning -_- I never do cry at films...this one broke me now i'm gonna be crying for an hour or so

  • Could you please remove the title of the video, it is a spoiler for many people, including me, who didn't know what happened to Tony at the end...

  • @floritka85 you cant be serious...

  • @skye7208 OMG, you know what!?!?!?!??!?!?............I am.

Doesn't seem like such an odd request to me or such an outlandish concept that someone doesn't know what happens at the end, now is it?

  • @skye7208 Maybe, I cry at this scene all the time, maybe you just lack empathy.

  • @floritka85 It's based on Romeo and Juliet...how could you not know?

  • @gleefulgleek Well just because it was "based" off of something doesn't mean it was a remake with the EXACT same story to it. I knew it borrowed ideas and was based off of R+J but obviously the whole movie wasn't the SAME as R+J, so perhaps the ending could have also been different...hence why both M+T didn't die like in R+J...

  • this makes me sad, and it's friday :((

  • I always cry at this part.... Natalie is one and all emotional, and when the singing starts I just crack up.... Even though the singing voice was dubbed.

  • always makes me cry

  • This is my favorite scene... it's depressing

  • omg why doesnt thave this have more hits

  • The best scene of all time. I had so many thoughts and feelings when I watched this movie years ago, and now they all come back to me. Truly the best scene ever.

  • um... so maria just left?? the movie was great, but i hate how it just leaves it there. not that i would want maria to die but isn't this moive based on romo and juliet?

  • @gleek419 yes its based on romeo and juliet, but that doesnt mean it has to end like it

  • @gleek419 That's true it is based on Romeo and Juliet ,but maybe they wanted a different ending. And the movie didn't "just leave it there" imagine the love of you life was just killed, what would you do? Or better yet How would you end the movie?

  • people see movies like these and A day without Mexicans and after all that they still don't get it????

  • DON'T YOU TOUCH HIM!!! I would have said that too.

  • Her monologue Is probably the best ever :)

  • I always cry when i see this too!! UUGHHH! lol

  • Tony- I didn't beleive hard enough.

Me - (bawling my eyes out)

  • @BabyLlamas023

I know, I know! That line always gets me. ;__; After all of that, he blames HIMSELF! And he has to die that way! So horribly unfair!

  • Wow! Natalie is just awesome as Maria, perfect, you cant help but cry OMG!

  • blaine dead

  • this is still making me cry and ive only just put on this scene!! :'(

  • This is such an outstanding movie. I really enjoyed watching it. Thank you for posting it.

  • i thot maria ended up killing herself?

  • gangs and racism smh

  • 'You all killed him, my brother, and Riff, not because of guns and triggers, but with hate' This is a true love story.

  • "...And still have one bullet left for me?!"

This breaks my heart :( </3

  • I havant cried this hard in a long time

  • Comment removed

  • im sorry but i thought it was kinda funny when they almost dropped his body but it was sad too

  • HELP I don't understand the ending when she just walks away. I find that odd, especially since she isn't even cryin. Does anyone get the endin?

  • @waccadoodle She feels numb. That's What I've always thought. The love of her life is dead and she used up the initial burst of hate and hurt. Now, she feels nothing.

  • I don't want to kill the scene, but what does Chino gain from killing Tony? And what happened to Anita?

  • @stefanieluvschocolat

Revenge - for sleeping with his "girlfriend", and for killing Bernardo.

  • I am glad that she was sane and didnt kill herself like Juliet did.

  • i thought romeo and juliet both died

  • Natalie wood was a very underated actor, and part from this flim and her death how many people would say that they even know who she was. This film is outstanding as it was and as it will always be. I hope that people take the time to get to now NW's movie's she was fab.

  • @poshmum This clip definetly shows her as a great actress but its a musical so the fact that shes dubbed is not cool in my opinion. Marni Nixon was uncredited for most of the roles she sang in the early days, these include Maria in West Side Story, Anna in The King and I and Eliza in My Fair Lady. I know that wouldnt be Natalies choice, but i hate how the studios get the big star and then get a better singer to actually sing the part!

  • Damn it's ashame Natalie wood died . She was a fuckin amazing actress.

  • first time i've seen this and came across the last scene , haven't watched whole movie and my heart has broken

  • @maxinexoxful Make sure you don't miss a thing. Its sort of like a romeo and juliet love story. You will love it, especially if you listen to the lyrics of the song. Even though I know what is going to happen I always cry. Listen to the part when she says "Don't you touch him" wow you really feel her pain.. Enjoy great movie..

  • @bxgrl4ever Lol yes im actually busy watching with my class at college and we're gonna redo it , xD i want to see it frist to get the jist of the movie definitely :)

  • Beautiful scene, very teary everytime

  • i know exactly how this ends but i still cry at it.when Maria gets the gun and points it at the jets and sharks..very sad.

  • Had this as our school play back in 3rd grade and I didn't understand it then. Watched it again in college with my boyfriend. He just couldn't get why I was crying at almost every scene because everything was so perfect it overwhelmed me, especially THIS scene.

  • Had this as our school play back in 3rd grade and I didn't understand it then. Watched it again in college with my boyfriend. He just couldn't get why I was crying at almost every scene because everything was so perfect it overwhelmed me, especially THIS scene.

  • im just watching this for glee since they're doing it for a musical...

  • Sooo...Maria doesn't die too?
