let's all raise a glass to the 65th anniversary to the birth of one of England's finest! Plonk would have become an OAP today! RIP Ronnie xxx FOREVER REMEMBERED FOR ALL THE GREATNESS YOU LEFT US! XX
Eric Clapton wanted to set up his own British version of 'The Band' when he started Blind Faith in 69. That never happened: however, with Slim Chance, Ronnie Laine put together the nearest thing to Levon & the boys !
What I'd give to see The Passing Show...must've been a magical experience.I keep watching Ronnie's stuff on here,an it's always with a big smile and a tear in my eye.......
This man sings from the heart, and inner spritual drive that only vary few can compare to,i hope you are never forgotten, and that people like me have the opertunity to discover the true beauty of your music, what a gift you have left us to remmber you by thanku
God such a sweet sweet voice & so so gifted I miss Ronnie Lane & I miss when musicians played because they loved to & it was a calling, not a job & a way to get yourselves a Hollywood career or a supermodel GF! Plonk had class right to the end & so did Marriott -only Davies and Townsend are on parr with them & I am sticking to that opinion. Love Lane solo so much better then Faces, Rod's Faces was just a good nights drunk but solo Lane really shined miss my Marriott and Plonk always.
talking of gifts i've just inherited a bag of cravats that would bring a tear to wellers eye, the one ronnies wearing included, an original austin reed i may add
Ronnie lived most of his adult life without the gifts that the talent should have secured, the one thing that remained throughout was the soul, lets just hope it remains!bless you plonk!
You got it right, he was so true to himself and to others, his music so real and with earthy purity we all love as English folk...his obvious contentment and happiness shine on through the great songs he wrote and performed..NEVER forgotten!
Classic song, classic man!

Is that Steve Simpson? Trying to find out because he also plays guitar and sings well on 'you never can tell'.

Yes, that's Steve in the red. He looks about half the size of Plonk...he'd be a Tiny Face

Great song and performance! Look at the joy on the faces of the fiddlers! If you're a musician, you know those looks say it all.
