It is an insane, full feeling sung song what seeks his same. This singer is full magic, I can hear this song again and again, it is wonderful.
Newskarlwilismus
Es ist ein wahnsinniges, voller Gefühl gesungenes Lied, was seines gleichen sucht. Diese Sängerin ist voller Zauber, ich kann dieses Lied immer wieder hören, es ist wunderbar.
Wow, she really has an awful voice live. She is flat and it's her own song (lol). I know everyone that comments on here has an uber boner for this chick, but someone has to be honest. Great song, terrible performance.
@teddyatlasts Too bad for you. It's not about the voice. Sure, there are better voices out there, but she puts alot of energy into this song and it shoes. Great performance!
It's not about being "honest" versus being in denial or deluded. You're speaking in such a definite and condescending tone, but it is you who doesn't get something. I very well know she's not the best singer technically. However, she's a beautiful performer and all-around artist whose music moves me deeply. Technical precision is not the point in and of itself. If you don't look beyond it, you are missing out a lot.
The weirdest thing happened to me. I was listening to the radio last saturday and aracde fire ready to start came one and right away I could tell it stood apart as something great, I had never heard it before and I looked it up and listened to it 50 times since. Well today this song came on the radio and just took over my body with its awesomeness, again I had never heard it before, looked it up and it was the same band!!! What a freakin amazing stand alone band arcade fire is!!!
@nicklazzarinirocks welcome to arcade fire :) they are a great band. check out some of the live glastonbury 2007 stuff. particularly wake up and power out. epic songs, epic performances
I felt the exact same way when I first heard a snippet of their song "Wake Up". Took me ages to find the song, but it was worth it. I definitely recommend going out and getting their debut album, Funeral, if you haven't already!
I think you're find that the album Funeral outdates Neon Bible. Trust me; I own them all ; )
Neon Bible is a great album; especially Intervention, No Cars, Keep the Car Running, Black Mirror, and of course, Neon Bible.
However, I have always enjoyed Funeral more, with Wake Up, Lies, Laika, Power out, Haiti, and Lenin (an outake of the album, but a fantastic Bowie-esque song!)
The way that they line-up on stage, all the additional instruments and guitars and strong central woman, the pulsating, melodic, edgy, tuneful songs - to me it resembles a new Talking Heads rather than Radiohead. At last!
Comparisons to OK Computer? In what way? Composition? Arrangement? Cultural origins? Win and Regine? I mean come on...Radiohead is Radiohead and AF is AF, if you look deeply at them, and everyone, the uniqueness of everything is astounding, let's not simplify things.
I think she knows her voice sucks. You can see her playing with her ear piece a bunch and she makes motions to someone off stage a little bit. Her monitor was probably having trouble. If a singer can't hear their own voice, they can't sing worth a shit.
Love the song,..love her personality with the lyrics....but for christ's sake....let's get some audio adjustment to link the album to the live performance of this girl. Old timer here- but plain and simple- great voice, great persona, and terrible translation of a great song to live.....help her please!!!
I love this song - but do the opening chord remind anyone of Blondie's Heart of Glass? Am I the only only to hear this? Regine even seems to be doing a slight Debby Harry impression vocally.
It's so easy to get caught up in this great song, and to miss the rest of the album -- but try to listen to it all. The more you listen, the more it gets into your bones. Great song, and great album!
@TheSnapmovies While I agree Arcade Fire stands on its own and is far better than all the mainstream crap consumed today, I would say Radiohead (and ONLY Radiohead) at least equates Arcade Fire's greatness.
I totally agree with you. I only listened to Radiohead when I found them. Now that I have found Arcade Fire too I listen to them as well. They were similar before but after The Suburbs they are eerily similar, the album reminded me of Ok computer.
a lot of people have been comparing suburbs to ok computer. the way i see it, they're both alike because they're albums with an overload of ridiculously good songs (Paranoid Android, Let Down, Karma Police vs. Suburbs, Rococo, and Sprawl II)
they are and Arcade fire was fairly popular anyways but I think The Suburbs will firmly establish them in the music world like OK computer did for Radiohead. The style of each song is unique and you're right their both ridiculously good.
@hamsterdam92 Arcade Fire is a great band. They write amazing music. But, they are actually pretty mainstream. Pop and mainstream has been given a bad name because of the majority of its content. But, that doesn't mean that excellent music can't end up becoming mainstream. It just means more people are noticing it. Even people who enjoy terrible music sometimes can see, or rather hear, the value of good music.
@hamsterdam92 Also, I'd have to say there are many more bands out there that can easily compare to Arcade Fire and Radiohead. There is a lost of music out there. More than you or I know about. Explore it.
A really powerful song, and fun at the same time. Regine is a really great performer, she's a natural! This is my favorite song off of the new album.
I was so happy when I was listening to The Suburbs and heard that she did another solo because I really loved In the Backseat!!! This one has a great 80's sound to it!!
I lost my shit when they started the song, it's my FAVOURITE off the Suburbs! I would like to find a video where, at the beginning, she explains the inspiration behind the song. it was cute and hilarious
I loved hearing this!!! It was a beautiful night. Sound system mgr needs to up the voice as was really to enmeshed with the great instruments. Love this band. Van really good job w the video. I Flipped it but not near good. Peace.
