My grandad's old 1969 Silvertone acoustic has a bad bow where neck joins body and a local shop said it couldn't be repaired because that model guitar had only a partial length truss rod that didn't go all way through to inside the guitar body
Davey, why do we still make uncutaway guitars with a fretboard all the way onto the body like that? There's no comfortable way to play on those last like 5 or 6 frets, and it just seems to either sink, or hump up, causing problems later on.
Dave, your videos keep me informed, entertained and laughing! Way better than any TV program. Keep the videos coming. I love seeing all the different guitars arrive sick and leave healthy! You are the man Dr. Dave!
This video highlights why I never want to tackle fixing an acoustic! Theres so much that, just from your videos, is commonly wrong with these things that the amount of work involved in getting them to work seems almost impossible to really do to your own desire. I guess this whole idea of evaluating the job before you tackle is comes in useful and Im a believer in Davey's method!!!! Looking forward to the BC Rich Batman warbeast!!
you really do get a lot of failed repairs from amatures.. If i ever bring you my les paul you'll see a prime example of what the bone head before me did to it.
They are the cleanest power driven pickups I have ever used. They distort very well but at the same time keep the note clear and precise. They have adjustable poles 36 per pickup on the humbucker style model. They are unique and I am sure not to everyones liking. I would like to try them on a 335 and see what they do...
It's amazing how much work and hassle can be saved with the purchase of a $10 humidifier and taking 30 seconds a week to fill it during the winter months!
Hi Dave: The action on my takamine is about this high, but I have a slight hump on the lower bout just by the bridge. Do you think I need to humidify it? or is it already to moist.
i`ll leave my number, when I die give my wife a ring A boring sad person is needed.

Do those humidity packs really work. The ones in MusciansFriend that say they'll maintain a 47% humidity.

hey dave do you know what the specs are for a classical guitar, i have one and i know the action is high because it has bellied up a bit
narutosaenz 3 weeks ago
@narutosaenz
Classical guitars have very high action and it's fine due to the easy play of the nylon strings. I rarely see a classical for repairs :)

if there is one thing i hate its when they make a know in the end of the string.

I live in Florida and never used a humidifier on my acoustic, should I be? Any recommendations?
jobryan26 3 weeks ago
@jobryan26
what's the relative humidity ?
probably high
ocean air can create too much humidity in your case
we worry about the moisture being suked out of things here
