As soon as the plane hits the ground, they start whinniing to each other and are fine :). (I went with 5 horses as a groom and stood in that blue container with them during take off and landing)
They ship a lot easier if you kill them first and cut them up so you can stack the meat. That's how zoos get food to feed the big cats.
