  • YOU are so cute.

So adorable that I just want to EAT you.

    UGH

  • I love that jacket! and the 2 japanese style shirts!!

  • Yeah, the jacket looks great!

  • @zellator Indeed!

  • I take it that L is the size? So I'm assuming the only thing you get to choose is the size and the gender?

  • @dragonballmarcus Yea, you choose the size. Clothes are mixed gender I guess - no real way to distinguish between what a woman or a man would wear from this store.

  • Awesome, would love to have that Jacket! xD

  • @DeXimE Keep your eyes peeled for a giveaway sometime soon!

  • i got the Starbucks one this year :)

  • @mimei What did it contain?

  • I love that koi jacket!

  • @tsukael :D

  • Wahey, good to see you again dude! And very informative, didn't know about this practice for lucky bags on new years, especially for clothes stores =D Guess it's a good way to get rid of all of the lines they couldn't sell during the year, kind of like the Boxing Day sales here in the UK :)

  • @nabusan That seems to be the idea, and to get people out to the stores on cold Winter mornings during the holidays. Otherwise I'm sure everyone would rather just snuggle up under the kotatsu.

  • お久しぶりですね。明けましておめでとうございます!

I always wondered if the bags were labeled by size or just random-sized items thrown in. I thought, if you wear large-size clothes and you get all smalls and mediums, that's quite a waste of money. But then again, no one would pay $100+ for random-sized items, lol.

Most of the fukubukuro I've seen are fairly expensive (of course, they're brand names). But what are the typical price ranges for fukubukuro? And when do they usually sell them in Japan?

  • @Nyanko 明けましておめでとうございます!I believed bags were random too, but as you point out, it would be silly for customers to buy stuff they can't even wear. That was what clinched the deal for me - all the items in the bag were of the brand I liked and the size I could wear.

Fukubukuro range in price from virtually free to millions of yen (jewellery lucky bags in Ginza, for instance). But the vast majority seem to be between 3,000-20,000 yen. They are sold in Japan at the start of every new year.

  • I would love to be able to import these to the UK. Maybe when I go to Japan I'll buy some :)

  • @isausol Keep an eye out here. I may be running a New Year's give-away very, very soon ;).
