  • the chorus sounds like 'wild thing'

  • I don't understand why they all insisted that Jackie lacked bass playing skills. From what I can hear in this, she's actually pretty good. She really gets to show off in this preformance. I like what she does at 2:09. I think the reason that they kept expecting her to be better was because of the rest of the talent. I mean, Lita's a combination of a female Jimi Hendrix and Ritchie Blackmore.

  • You can really hear the fans get excited here.

  • Cherie has an awesome voice!

  • BEST FEMALE SINGERS:

Cherie Currie. Tina Turner. Johnette Napolitano. Ann Wilson. Annie Lennox.

Chrissie Hynde. Suzi Quatro. Donita Sparks. Marie Friedriksson. Suzi Gardner.

Cass Elliott. Grace Slick. Irene Cara. Kim Carnes. Linda Lewis. Kate Bush.

  • Their outfits look so different in this song. I like them. Maybe because it's the finale.

  • listen to 1:50 sounds like wild thing huh <3 love this band

  • Jackie's bass sounds great in this song. This band is awesome.

  • Sandy's drumming, Jackie's AWESOME bass line and the way she totally compliments Sandy's playing, Lita's badass solo, Joan's grungy tune and Cherie's random dancing----> EPIC coolness. Sandy putting casually the mike back in place, Joan and Cherie and Cherie in the end, looooool.

They seem to be having a blast and that's exactly what playing music is all about imho.

    Great performance, through and through!

  • I'm just "inloved" with this fuckin band!!!! Can't stop listenin them since I was 15 and saw "School days" video, man!! looooovee The Runaways I wish I was now my dad's age ):

  • The Runaways made the Most Complete Rock n Roll Song EVER: "American Nights" is THE definitive Classical Rock n Roll Theme, even more than "Jail House Rock", "Whole Lotta Shaking Going On", "Satisfaction", "Anarchy in the UK" and "Smells Like Teen Spirit". The Runaways --- Best Band Ever!

  • I LOVE THIS!!!

  • @Jackie777heaven I definitively LOVE Jackie too!

  • amo the runaways

lita, joan, cherie, sandy e fox eu amo vcs

  • I SHOULD BORN IN FUCKING MID 60's I could have a job computer programming right now(I would deal with boss but it is worth it), I could listen more real music, could attended to real music concerts, my mom couldn't eat my mind, world was less shit hole, people of these days were much less asshole, less backstabbing, less liar, not everyone was slave of a fucking paper(not like today), not a fucking asshole.I HATE TODAY'S FUCKING (NOT)MODERN WORLD!!! Whoah I just freaked out!

  • @wachtingone & we can totally understand you :)

  • @Jadeee01 hahahahahahahahaXD

  • It' always refreshing how 'lost' songs like that can sound brightest and funniest than today's 'work songs' or 'big hits'.

That's one more proof about how 70's RAW rock is SUPERIOR.

And yeah, you get it: that's why I DON'T HEAR ANY NEW MUSIC since 1994.

Fuck off all the new rock.

I had enough. I have the best: I have The Runaways.

  • Damn! Look at Cherie go! That child can sing! :D

  • They kick ass. They weren't just damn hot, they had one of the best drummers EVER, some of the best composers, one of the best solists, and a great performance! Nothing's gonna reach them anytime soon!

  • I love Joan, but yellow does not look good on her. It's not her color

  • i want to start this too!

  • @MrsTodd2013 lets!

  • modern muzic zucks ppl i wish i waz in the 60z && 70z

  • Cherie Currie has such an amazing stage presence :)

  • Cherie Currie : the best frontperson in History.

  • ty ty ty ty for the live cuts!

  • I love this song

  • I love how Lita runs off stage at the end.

  • I am now obsessed with this band I LOE THEM. I wish I was born a 70s kid like the runaways but now music is ruined by the likes of justin bieber and all those crapy people

    THE RUNAWAYS FOREVER

  • @paranormal666wiccan I mean I LOVE THEM*** stupid typo

  • I've never seen Chereie wear so many clothes on stage...I love her for it though!!! Love the Runaways!! They are AMAZING♥♥♥♥♥XD XD XD XD XD

  • I SO DO NOT like my generation........ i am so disappointed we have to grow up on kei$ha , rihanna and all that crap!!

  • @kal2jes i agree

  • @upperiowa09 and besides i like being myself , and im never gonna give up my leather jacket....

  • @kal2jes agreed!!!!!

  • @kal2jes AGREED! lol i think i should have been born in the 70s! i know almost anything about 10 rock music from the late 60's to the mid 90's but aske me about half the music (if thats what your supposed to call it) and i will look at you and go "HUH?" lol

  • The Runaways was the first all-girl rock band that truly kicked ass. They went against all rules and did their own thing. Joan Jett, Cherie Currie, Sandy West, Lita Ford, Jackie Fox... The true role models for women of this century!

  • @kal2jes no. good bands always were and always are. Sometimes it's just harder to find them, but they exist and its our choice to grow up with them or the mainstream craps. the thing why we should feel sorry for ourself is the lifestyle they could lead. the clothes, the discos, the people around, the way they lived. without internet and phones. it was easier, but much better, They had more freedom in real life! :)

  • @Jadeee01

I don't know if you are care I'm replying your old comment but the internet and cell phones aren't the responsible of degeneration of people. I think people started to give a damn about the materials instead of thinking about their lives, spiritual roads, emotions etc... People just closed their eyes for more materials. Many people just closed their eyes I believe. I hope one day people start to open their eyes again before smelling the ashes.

  • @wachtingone no i dont thought about degeneration of ppl who use them. i mean i use them to,& im not degenerated, no. :D i said i dont like them in general. i dont like that they improved them this much. because that time pp had to "fight"to meet new ppl, to find music they loved, to live how they wanted to live. it wasnt that easy. they needed to do something. especially the teenagers. i dont know if i can make it clear, but i think they were bored less time.

  • @wachtingone becuz if they wanted to talk, or meet someone, like someone they liked that way, they didn't go on internet & msn. they went to a bar or anything somewhere they thought they can find that person. & there were more ppl. so they met new ppl, and with more ppl there were always somethings happening. omg its hard to explain but i hope you got what i wanted to express :)

  • @Jadeee01 In the end (many) people weren't responsible and didn't care shit about freedom and they were give ready to give their freedom away also. Well why the fuck I'm telling to you know better. Well I wish the good sides of these time(internet hehehe..., computers etc...) and good sides of 80's (like people were acting like more human being. Of course there were assholes in 80's,rock n' roll and heavy metal culture etc.. You name it) could mixed.

  • @wachtingone agreed :)

  • @wachtingone & believe ppl are cleverer than that time, which is on one hand good, on the other hand bad. cuz not just "good" ppl but "bad" pp became so. which means crimes r harder, crueler and they really built on ppl naivity. so safety became a bigger issue, & look know. they took you fingerprint in the usa if u wanna enter. they have cameras everywhere. you r not free anymore. not free the way they were.

  • @Jadeee01 About degeneration, there is degeneration from people's brain you know. People and many teenagers, are closing their minds by materials you know. That's what I call degeneration. I still believing that technology isn't completely responsible of the mess and losing our freedom. You know government was ready to take our freedom. We had the trigger. For more money, more shit etc... people closed their eyes and there you go a shit hole not(modern) world.

  • @wachtingone well yes about the degeneration, we have kinda the same. but i dont think the trigger really was in ppl hands. i think it was rather tied to us, so the moment we moved the trigger was pulled. & then maybe yes, they didn't care, they just turned away

  • @Jadeee01 I still think people acted irresponsible about their freedom, dignity, morale's etc... but what happen is done. Shit happened big time to humanity. Sigh...

  • @kal2jes and don't forget The Runaways wasn't as famous in the USA as they were in Japan. :)

  • @kal2jes This generation sucks. I hate it

  • @kal2jes I totally agree!

  • I love what Jackie does at 2:09

  • @demigrl21 I agree, Jackie is bad!

  • Baby, Jackie Fox was ON FIRE! Do you hear that groovy bass line?

  • 2:15 joan looks stoned and she dances lol

  • cherie and joan allmost have the same haircut

    just salt and pepper

  • You can see where Madonna got her look as a "frontman"

  • lol at joan at 3:19

these girls represent everything i love about everything. and no, not just sex, drugs and rock n roll

  • The Runaways kicked wide open the gates for generations of all-girls rock n roll bands; but the most impressive is how radical they are in fit all the needs: they are the FIRST, the BEST, the BIGGER, the YOUNGER, the most BEAUTIFUL, GORGEOUS, CUTTEST and the most TRAGIC. This finished any discussions. Perfect. A band made by God!

  • The Runaways... Never before or since have 5 teenage American girls gotten together musically and both looked and sounded so GOOD!

  • THAT'S A RUNAWAYS MASTERPIECE!... It always makes me cry in melancoly and beauty... Lyrics, music, melody... everything is perfect, as usual in that divine band, but this time, better than ever. Jackie's bass leads the music, giving unity by harmony. Lita and Joan fight in a duel of guitars. Sandy keep the "heartbeat" on her drums beating. And tragic Cherie explodes in passion, telling the stars drama. The girls were specially inspired.

  • If we get caught...

    HA- JUST DENY IT!!!!!!!!!!

  • Kick-Ass! .... Spits chrome & bleeds sex!

  • When they start singing do they mute the ppl or they must hav some respect! lol

  • 3:14- 3:21 Joanie all wet and cute!!!!!!

    Rock that bass, Jackie!

  • I just have to say LOVE JACKIE'S BASS in this ... totally carries the whole song and every accent to cherries dancing x))... BEST BAND EVER !!!

  • I actually got chills watching this. Badass rockers.

  • How come this one only has 90,000? One of their best.

  • i hadn't seen this one. amazing. amazing band.

  • @tomitstube oops sorry about that I AGREE AWESOME BAND

  • what a great song... and what a hot band

  • no wonder my mom dances like this!!!! hahahaha she used to loovee the runaways!

  • I guess Lita's cameraman was taking a poop during her solo. Idiots

  • god, they all rock this song don't they?

  • Joan and Jackie rocks it!!

  • DAMNN! Listen to that bass! Amazing Jackie!!

  • @therunawayslover

yeah i love bass guitar !Jackie <3

if you like bass i m sure you know Ritchie Blackmore it 's a genious!

  • Totally! Her and that Mockingbird bass. That girl is one seriously banging bass player. It's really too bad that someone did not see her talent and channel it better than Fowley (IMO). I have seen some great bass players over the years and I don't know that I have seen that many as good as her. She was too good......

  • Jackie Fox = Suzi Quatro + Gene Simmons + Steve Harris + Glen Matlock + Paul Simonon + Dave Alexander + Robério Santana + Jennifer Finch. THE BASS GUITAR GODDESS! Period.

  • Cheri was indeed the "BOMB"

  • It sucks I was born in 86. I should've been born in 66 like my mom!

  • Hey didorishimiz, I just wanted to tell you that in an interview that Dakota gave she said that they couldn't used any of Cherie's old clothes because she gave all of them to fans back in the day. That she was going to give her one of the corsets that was made for her. Kristen even went in to say that yea she gave Joan Jett a leather jack that they used in the movie with stuff writen all over the back. But that would have been awesome ;)

  • who else think that this song is about cherie and joan " special relationship " ?!!

  • @cuteNADA1992 mee!! lol cherie sandy n i think jackie wrote it so i think its probably bout everyones "secrets" ;p

  • @cuteNADA1992 actualy no im wront it was cherie, sandy, kim, and kari who wrote it

  • @cuteNADA1992 if you read Cherie's autobiography, she doesn't even mention a "special relationship" with Joan. She actually said in an interview that they were just experimenting. I think the Runaways movie played it up for the sake of plot...

  • @caitibaby1 I think so too

  • @caitibaby1 I read her autobiography two and Cherie waxes poetic about how Joan was her bes tfriend, confidant and someone she was sexually attracted to. Moments with Joan, according to her, were "the most satisfying in her young life". She also stated in an interview that she and joan had a sexual relationship, but it wasn't love or anything.

  • es una muy buena banda, que duro poco, pero tuvo gran exito

  • Was that Lita playing the solo that starts @1:50? Wow, she sounds so much like ACE FREHLEY - didn't they says something on "Edgeplay" about how at one point all they knew was "Strutter"? LOL

    Awesomeness.

  • I wish the camera had shown that solo.

  • damnn i love this. i love their outfits!! haha. am i wrong or is the outfit cherie is wearing the same as the sequin top outfit that was in the runaways movie?

  • @xoalex914 yeah..actually cherie is givin out all her outfits to dakota who plays the runaways movie^^...she's soo nice.!

  • I <3 Joan and Cherie!

  • hot shit!

  • too good rock

  • Cherie totally went one way offstage, and the rest of the girls went the other. Were they all still pissed at her about the photo shoot? lol :(

  • @suzylux If it wasn't the end of the show (i.e. waiting for the encore), then Cherie was probably going off to do a wardrobe change.

  • @bison1203 True, yeah. I'm sure they didn't end the show with 'Secrets' come to think of it.

  • @suzylux They ended with American Nights.

  • "If we get caught...HA! JUST DENY IT!"

    =)

  • This reminds me of No More Mr. Nice Guy by Alice Cooper.

  • 2:31-2:34 unf

  • love it 2:03 fuckin rocks...RUNAWYAS 4 EVA...

  • This is cool

  • Man Lita sounds a lot like Blackmore.

  • Go Jackie she iz playing some great bass here, nice bass guitar too, unfortunately this iz the guitar that got broke & caused all the drama :( great clip thanx 4 the post :)

  • Have a great Day!!

  • Yeah, Jackie looks great in those shorts.

I want a high-quality DVD of this, dammit!

  • Oh yes she does.Oh wonder if this song was about Cherie and Joan's "secrets?"

    I can only fantasize.

  • Why do the greatest bands have to be SO under-rated and so under-appreciated? Simple: the Industrial "Music" SHITSTEM is ruled by PERVERT PSICHOPATICS who only want sell ROTTEN UGLY SHIT FAKES such as Madonna and Gaga and they want made us all a bunch of billions of MOROMS with NO sense of good taste for so good things and REAL TALENTED ARTISTS such as Runaways, Concrete Blonde, Bolshoi, Blondie, Irene Cara, Sinead O'Connor, Kim Carnes, Sandra, Laura Branigan, Randy Bush, Suzi Quatro...

  • Love the three cord middle riff at 2:16.

    Very simple and very catchy.

I also love the closeup of Jackie at 2:08.

Go ahead and hurt me. :)

Still trying to understand the first line of the third verse.

Sounds like "something-something-something in our spare time".

  • 'Secrets', this songs got to be about Joan and Cheries relationship, surely! I always understood it to be about them both. God, it got me through my teenage years! I LOVE THE RUNAWAYS.

  • I like the end of the video when, I think its lita, picks up the fan that some asian girl probly threw onstage, fans herself and runs off!

    hahaha

  • I've always known of Joan but I found out about this band last year- which is SO sad- i've been missing out, guys. Now the movie will come out too- Joan and Cherrie are still amazing today

  • Thanks, fallspeed.

    That's a start. :)

Rwinglesx, the blonde singer is Cherie Currie.

  • what is the name of the blonde that sings?

  • great! bass! :D

  • Another simple, very catchy song with electric guitars - my favorite kind of rock music. :)

The third verse is not on the studio album, and I haven't read it on any lyrics websites.

Anybody know the words to it? :)

  • @YZEtc Listening to the same live version on 'Flaming Schoolgirls', the second half goes "Breaks my heart, we're so far apart - Cause we're living a double life" - I can't understand the first half though.

  • look how wet joan is, she's playing her heart out...joan jett is rock n roll...

  • she is! :) .. she always plays her fucking heart out.. thats what makes her joan jett+ the badass attitude hahah

  • With all of the immense talent in this group, Jackie seems to get overlooked. You can hear her bass rolling all over this tune. A great song!!!

  • She does play great, though Kim Fowley didn't think so in the beginning, so he brought in Nigel Harrison to play bass on their debut album while she took more lessons.

  • gotta love that bass part 1:34

  • DAMNN! Listen to that bass! Amazing Jackie!!

  • Jackie Fox is the Best Runaway --- the most human, fragile, vulnerable and lovely.

Ah, Jackie... you're sooooooooo sweet... delicious!

The prettiest. The nicest. The most talented. The most human.

    I love you, Jackie.

    My Goddess.

  • GREAT basslines, damn.

  • FOX FIRE !

  • I love the end, where Lita picks up a fan (thrown by an audience member?), stops to fan herself with it, then runs offstage.

Let's thank the Japanese for properly documenting the band, which they never got back home!

  • the O riginal girl power. cherie, sandy, jackie, joan, and lita.

  • Joan Jett = HOT! Lita ford in the end = HOTTER!!!

  • @animaniaco cherie = hottest

  • I have always thought that this song is about joan and cherie having sex and that being their secret

  • lol, write ficcage about and join the Lennon/McCartney bandwagon! LOL, I know you want to! :D

  • @muereme lol. Apperantly Crimson and Clover is about cherrie? :p

  • Can't be, because it's a cover that was written in the late 50's/early 60's.

  • Yess! Sorry. I was thinking of The Runaways script. My bad. Being only 20 does have its disadvantages with my knowledge of music.

Ohh i hope Tommy James forgives me

  • I like the little side-to-side dance Cherie does alot.

  • awsome

  • Wow they were huge in Japan.

Ok I'm in my 20's and I have love them forever.

  • me too!

    they were fuckin' great!!

    The runaways forever!

  • The bassist was amazing! In most live acts (male or female) you can barely hear the bass. And she played better than the average female bassist in that she used more than just a few basic notes (on the last 2 strings of the bass) for each song.

  • With all of the immense talent in this group, Jackie seems to get overlooked. You can hear her bass rolling all over this tune. A great song!!!

  • love the kimonos.

  • this song reminds me on Shocking Blue, it's the bassline i think...

  • I would say Cherie is one of the best "frontmen" in rock history. She has a brilliant voice!

  • @cricketbat08 she had that scratchy voice that went just right with their music

  • @horsesaremylife31899 Yup, agreed! :)

  • the best singer : Cherie Currie

the best solo guitar player : Lita Ford

the best bassist : Jackie Fox

the best drummer : Sandy West

and the best guitar player : Joan Jett

    THEY ARE THE RUNAWAYS

    AND WE LOVE THEM !!!

    vallinera100

  • One of the greatest "frontmen" of all time. A teenage girl

  • awesome girls!

  • Love the bit at the end when Lita Ford pics up a fan and fans herself, then runs off stage...fabulous...didn't know she was that camp. Love The Runaways. Love CherieO, Thanks A-Million for all the luverly clips.

  • The Runaways have always ben my favorite band since I was 16 (I'm 45 now) They rock!!

  • @tinasprettygirl1963 i'm 21 and they're my favourite band since I was 19 =D

  • @tinasprettygirl1963 wow, that's amazing. Ever since i heard "Cherry Bomb" when i was 5, I've considered myself an official Runaway. So inspirational, empowering, to me feminist (don't wanna get into it cause it will take me a while to explain my reasoning) and their just down right my idols

  • woooooo!!!!!!

  • love everything they do !! just got done listening to their greatest hits cd, very loud !! i needed that !! they rock !

  • Yeep--Miss Joan knows how ta sweat!!

  • Cherie was beautiful back then but now she is simply gorgeous. She has really aged well!

  • Lots of people did coke back then so what if they did it the musics great. plus many of the greats died from drugs back then

Hendrix,Elvis, and Hank Williams(He died earlier then this period)

  • One of my favorite songs of theirs, as for the "high on coke" comment, many musicians did coke back then(not that i approve of any drugs) but many people look "high on coke"....

  • They were great.

  • I never really noticed before...but so much of their music is so similar. Cherie has a great voice for 'back then' but I can't see it being popular now. Then again I'm a huge Joan admirer

  • I think I know what you're saying. I don't disagree. Love'em!

  • What the hell does "looks high on coke" look like anyway. Stop spreading rumours.

  • Cherie looks very high on coke :))))

  • hi

Am I the only one who cannot open just this clip out of all the Runaways ones?

  • Nice.
