  • Grew up in Bronxdale,1730 Watson ave. in the seventies, I remember when Disco King Mario used to set up shop in the basketball court in front of my building. To this day I still carry those memories in my heart, even though Im much older, I still have mad love for hip hop and all its elements, check out my mastermixes.

  • I'm puerto rican. Suarez. live in philly. this shit is cray! racism is fucked up. I feel like thats where it all starts. that racism bullshit.

  • respect for surviving even though shit was ugly. grateful for how I have it.

  • White gangs moved up and out. Lower end white gangs dont survive. Because they dont have the numbers. Thats why their are not many around today, unless they are high end, mafia types or small time skinhead and or racist gangs.

  • I was there in the days . 1435 Harrod ave. Bx. River

  • The Valley crew whaddup... AAAAAAAYO!!!

  • my father was in the Ministers from Parkchester he told me they once threw a Black Spade member through a plate glass window on Starling ave and cut him to ribbons..

  • Uptown is the historically relevant chronicle of Washington Heights during the rise of crack cocaine. Dominated by powerful stories and based on real life accounts, Uptown will answer the questions most asked about that time when Washington Heights was the Drug Capital of the World, and the people who made the headlines.

You wanted the real story...prepare for the truth.

  • @jayeswift:: I didn't forget Outlaw and Gunner...Their brother Henry (shotgun) was my close friend ...RIP...Still see Outlaw, who actually came to this reunion later that evening...SPADE LOVE!!!!

  • I was an original Black Spade, My name is jaye swift, I was not a baby spade, not a young spade, I was frontline in the 70s 2nd div. on west Tremont and Davidson ave.

I walked the line at 12yrs. old Charlie Rock, forgot to mention lil outlaw, and his brother Gunner

  • I got an Old school HipHop Book Wit DJ Baron on da front cover wit every Old school figure U can think of.It even starts off wit da NYC gang culture.Kickin off from da Bronx River n all dat.So everything Dis Brother is saying Is Right n Exact.PLus My Uncle use to rap to Me stories about dem runnin around BX and Brklyn n all dat.And Wen I visited NYC for Myself it was All I was told was LIke a cassette booklet. All I had to do was look for certian key figures n landmarks to pinpoint stuff.

  • @BackBlocks09 I heard that T-Dot was ill like that. RIP to your boys.

  • I don't understand why they don't have the memorials or had the 40th anniversary in bronxdale projects where the spades come from.

  • @bxdale83

Yea that's what I thought, that the Black Spades came out of Bronxdale Projects by Rosedale Ave

  • They hung you off a roof ? Gimme a break. I grew up in the valley on Mickle Avenue I had plenty of black friends, still friends today. Some were Black Spades and I had plenty of white friends, White Angels and Bronx Aliens. Gang fights were ususally started by idiots, they woulda started fights if they were in a gang or not, white , black , a idiot is a idiot. When I was 16, moved to the Square, went to Lehman and I never heard of anyone bein thrown over the 12 ft high fence,to the Hutch Pkwy.

  • Davey D, can we get some more info/footage on this history? I appreciate what you're doing.

  • priate7x fuck you white boy u ain't foolin no one

  • @swah25 Come on now are you serious.Lol that dont even sound right. You stupid Idiot.

  • @swah25

    *too

    Learn English you redneck christfag

  • If you see BASTARDS OF THE PARTY by former Blood Cle 'Bone' Sloan, the OG's in LA created the gangs for the same reasons. The racist whites were harassing everybody and they had to unify to survive. After they whipped the white gangs asses a few times and some whites moved, the other gangs came up.

  • What song is that beat from in the beginning? I know that song.

  • Golden Guineas were prominent on Pelham Parkway when my old man was growing up in the 50s and 60s.

  • As a former Golden Guinea from Aurthur Ave. in the Bronx I will yes,the Black Spades were the biggest street gang in NYC. Drugs were the #1 factor that destroyed them. We fought a rumble with them on Fordham Rd. in '74. The Bronx Ministers from Pelham Bay fought with us against the Spades.

  • a lot of young dudes need to watch this and then maybe they would stop wasting their time in gang life. in those days they almost had to form gangs...this is a different time now...

  • you had to be bad and tough to wear your gang's jacket and bop(fight)with niggas who had knives, chains, bricks if you ran you made your gang look bad and you had to get your ass kicked them dudes really wore stars and stripes on their arms

  • This is real talk young people listen and seek guidence from your elders.......I believe everything he sAId that how it was back then very messed up till this day it like that a little in some parts..

  • Much love Zulu nation

  • This dude is lying through his teeth. Cops never did that and they know it. Just another made up excuse they have to hate my fellow whites. what a moroon.

  • @usaaok1000 what planet are you on? do you actually think that white police officers would be nice to the black spades? the police did all kinds of things in the '70's. actually this guy was lucky because black and puerto rican gang members were known to be thrown off of rooftops in the Bronx.
