"THE ALVIN SHOW" was originally seen in black and white in its only prime-time season on CBS (1961-'62), and Saturday morning repeats (1962-'65). The color prints were finally seen when the series was syndicated in the fall of 1965. Same with "TOP CAT" [ABC has no color facilities until the fall of '62]...only the color edition was later seen on Saturday mornings in the mid-'60s. "THE JOEY BISHOP SHOW" opening is from 1963...and it was originally in color.
@MsSteve117 because TV was worth a damn back then - Just wait 80 years yourself when none of your favorite shows are on & all the commercials you took for granted are all gone - THEN see how unnostalgic you are
Damn YouTube..If only there was a way to block them from muting video audio just because they get a wild hair up their ass to do it doesn't mean they should.
@PolizeiPaul i don't know why the audio is muted..i have the 2nd season opening (in color) that i was considering uploading to my channel..now i'm thinking twice..it's not often that YT has a problem with the audio portion of a TV show opening..anyone know why the audio was muted here?..what about complete episodes from this first season???
Did anyone other than me think it odd that these chipmunks were about three feet tall???

Alvin and the Chipmunks have been around that long? I remember the 1980s cartoon, but wow! I had no idea.

Dave Seville and Alvin and the Chipmunks have actually been around since 1958, but 1961 was their first appearence in animation

Old Mitch passed up signing a lot of the biggest stars that came out of the 50s & 60s, cause he hated rock and roll so much.

Five stars- Loved these, just as I remembered watching them as a kid. What I would give to have a complete
Mitch Miller show! Great entertainment. Thank you for sharing.

This is very cool! You should have included "Mr. Ed", and the "Dick Van Dyke Show", too.

Both of them are on 1961 TV Show Intros Part 1 of 2. :-)
