Untalented individuals teaming up with a musician that can actually play an instrument. No good self acclaimed "rappers" with pretentious behaviour...oh yeah, we just found out we can actually "rap". Aw, fuck it.
You are pretty fucking ignorant. They're ALL musicians. In this song, Questlove plays the drums, hub plays the bass, Kamal, plays the keyboard, Rahzel beatboxes, and Black Thought and Malik B MC. Also, you're pretty close-minded if you think you have to play a live instrument to be a musician. It takes talent to make electronic music and hip hop too.
You are correct in a big way. However, many so-called hip-hop producers only know how to press buttons on an MPC and don't know the difference between a xylophone and a saxophone...
@grandpasun I'd wager that half the so-called Hip Hop producers you are referring to that "push buttons on an MPC", wouldn't be the type of producers that would even know what an MPC is, let alone chop up samples/sounds & instrumented recordings and build a track up using one.
All the producers that I know of that use the MPC, have a very detailed & sonically superior knowledge of instrumented music. They've usually come from families with musicians. Pete Rock & J Dilla to name but 2.
