A sequel, if started directly after the last one was released, is usually about 2 years, and can be up to 4 or 5 years like GTA5 or Skyrim. Just look at the CoD games, thy've been exactly the same with minor tweaks since CoD4, they need to do something to refresh the experience, thats why they need a longer dev cycle.

From all the comments I've been reading for modern wafare 3 I think people are under the impression a sequel is suppuse to be a entirly new ground breaking game that has nothing to do with the previsus games.
Sequels are supposed to be different. Hence why they are sequels. Taking the exact same game and just giving it a few new spangled glitter shiny items is nothing. Take a look at some other sequels, the Elder scrolls series for example. Hell, even Battlefield.

The elder scrolls series are just abunch of games under the same name they are not true sequels and you know it just like final fantasy the only thing those games share is the band name.
A sequel is supposed to be more of the same it's suppuse to continue the story it's supposed to play atleast somewhat like the other a large diffrence would kill the story cohesion.
And yet 2142 is considered good. A sequel is supposed to be different. Yes, it plays the same but that doesn't mean it has to be an exact copy. @MrRukale Denial at it's finest is claiming that this is the exact game as Modern Warfare 2. It's MW2 as much Modern Warfare 2 as Halo 2 is exactly like Halo 1.
Halo 2 has better graphics. Also more variation of weapons and general gameplay updates. Multiplayer was expanded alot, also allowed online play. It was a much welcomed sequel that is well-deserved and provided alot more features than the original.

It did. It actually incorporated online multiplayer which the xbox didn't have at the time. Vehicles, air-combat and the game was generally claimed to be one of the console defining games of the year and possibly further. Halo 2 is a superior game to MW3 because it did alot of things different. MW3 is the same thing with a different name and you cannot argue that fact.
I feel like all my friends are hypnotized into the CoD series.. I loved CoD4 and MW2 was pretty fun, though after that I could tell it isn't going to get that much better. Yay, a higher prestige level and a few new gadgets. I just bought Too Human from Gamestop for $8 as it is the most underrated game ever, I am going to go have a blast! Have fun finding your new "Famas" :P

I have a question do people know what the fuck a sequel is.
From all the comments I've been reading for modern wafare 3 I think people are under the impression a sequel is suppuse to be a entirly new ground breaking game that has nothing to do with the previsus games.

Sequels are supposed to be different. Hence why they are sequels. Taking the exact same game and just giving it a few new spangled glitter shiny items is nothing. Take a look at some other sequels, the Elder scrolls series for example. Hell, even Battlefield.

@MrRukale Battlefield hasn't really changed much over the years the ones that did peopled hated like battlefield 2142 . The elder scrolls series are just abunch of games under the same name they are not true sequels and you know it just like final fantasy the only thing those games share is the band name.
A sequel is supposed to be more of the same it's suppuse to continue the story it's supposed to play atleast somewhat like the other a large diffrence would kill the story cohesion.

And yet 2142 is considered good. A sequel is supposed to be different. Yes, it plays the same but that doesn't mean it has to be an exact copy. Its pretty terrible how hard you fanboys will defend this game. Its an exact copy, could have been sold as an expansion pack, not a sequel. Needless to say, people that bought this are either 12 or wasted their money.

@MrRukale Yeah considered a good game but one of the worst selling battefield games ever. You want a example of a game that did sequel right play shadow hearts one and 2 you want a example of a game that did it wrong play shadow hearts 3.
By the way mw3 Not an exact copy they changed a lot they rebalanced the multiplayer once again what you want is a completely diffrent game which has nothing to do with the series before it what the fans want is a update to the series.

You do realize that if you leave out a new game engine MW3 and BF3 have changed about the same amount.. BF3 is just a rehash just as much as MW3 is. BF3 is good so is MW3

Difference between Halo 1 and 2.
Halo 2 has better graphics. Also more variation of weapons and general gameplay updates. Multiplayer was expanded alot, also allowed online play. It was a much welcomed sequel that is well-deserved and provided alot more features than the original.
Difference between MW2 and MW3.
..They added new maps. A new gun. Slightly different Co-op mode. There's not many new things here, ill be honest.
But hey, i didn't waste my money. Denial.

It did. It actually incorporated online multiplayer which the xbox didn't have at the time. Vehicles, air-combat and the game was generally claimed to be one of the console defining games of the year and possibly further. Halo 2 is a superior game to MW3 because it did alot of things different. MW3 is the same thing with a different name and you cannot argue that fact.

I feel like all my friends are hypnotized into the CoD series.. I loved CoD4 and MW2 was pretty fun, though after that I could tell it isn't going to get that much better. Yay, a higher prestige level and a few new gadgets. I just bought Too Human from Gamestop for $8 as it is the most underrated game ever, I am going to go have a blast! Have fun finding your new "Famas" :P
