  • nice landing my ass.

  • @b1cc2 lol

  • @b1cc2 I agree the landing was a hop skip and jump but your choice of words - I have two words for you and they're not Bon Voyage. The guys are all volunteers not getting nearly enough practise and the guy that did the flying was brand new on the aeroplane. Wanker! :(

  • Grand stuff!

  • ???

  • no sound in the middle?

  • Wonderful. Be nice to see some 20mm Hispanos in the nose, but hey - that's a detail. Breathtaking.

  • I am a SAAF old boy. Circa 1978 onwards. My current office is about 2km on the north side of Ysterplaat. The Schak always brings a tear to my eye when I see her coming into land. I have not seen her flying since the big air show two years ago.Keep up the good work.

  • Greetings, yes Shackleton 1722 is airworthy, and by all rights should be flying.Due to the fact that the crew are awaiting word from the Chief of the Air force as to their status because some are over 70 years of age. However we are doing a engine ground run on the 23rd of Feb to celebrate her 50th birthday.

  • This shack does still fly at the moment, (in South Africa )but is due to be grounded shortly due to a lack of qualified flight crew .

The shackleton at Pima is an AEW2 and made its last flight in december 2007, the one in the video is an MR3.

  • Nice to see one still flying, i started my Air cadet (and military) career at Kinloss when they had MR3's with 120,201, 206 Squadrons RAF, fantastic to see one flying. It is a funny thing but i can still remember the smell of leather, oil and electrics, the size of the wing spar, the amazing sense of history, electronics in the back, the fact the wings went up and down at low level over the sea, the 20 mm cannon and the rows of ammunition and the cramped entry hatch between the pilots. God bless

  • Does this still fly or is this the one i saw at the Pima Air And Space Museum in Tucson,AZ.?
