that video is no fake but i can at least tell you as a severe weather expert it was not actually a bolt that struck the ground that was what you call a step leader that never made it back up to the cloud the actuall brilliant flasshes you seen after that was the actual bolt overhead above the house .
The strike was close, but it didn't hit the property. That flash is an optical illusion caused by the reflection of the bolt in the camera's lens. The sound also wasn't instantaneous like dwarfer777 calculated.
It is not a fake, but it surely wasn`t so close or else thunder wave would`ve knocked you down in a milisecond. It is the camera`s lens to put blaim on.
i have seen that before in other videos, i believe its a positive streamer or a failed lightning bolt trying to meet up with the stepped leader, the real lightning bolt hit later on probably 50 feet away.
There's no such thing as a leader. You don't know what you're talking about. I hate it when people start commenting on things when they have no idea what they're talking about. Give me a BREAK already. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!
a positive leader comes from the ground in an attempt to make contact with the main negative leader from the cloud. The flash at 0:35 is a light reflect in the glass of the camera. It is very common and you can see it in alot of lightning videos. Also the FPS on this camera is not fast enough to catch the full bolt
that you witnessed was the ghost bolt.
more often called the ghosting effect. thats why the thunder was so delayed.

its not a fake but merly a reflection of the lightning from the lens, i calculate the bolt was 4400ft (1466yds)

If it actually struck in the front yard, the sound of the thunder wouldn't be delayed.

thats odd theres no thunder from the bolt that looks like it strikes your yard just from the one after that.
i agree with BarneySaysHi, must have been a much weaker leader. thankfully.
