  • Great video and great patches!

  • Great stuff there!

  • how do you make patches i like your vids your the man

can you make a vid on that

    thinks

  • How can i achieve the effect of the pitch bend and mod wheel when i actually dont have midi controllers?! I am using Ableton Live 8 with razor! I am just experimenting and the stuff you do while playing with the pitch bend is just crazy! would love an answer... :) Thanks in advance

  • @Cubanbees - search here at YouTube about putting controller numbers into a sequence in Ableton Live. Modulation is CC01. Pitch Bend is it's own unique controller. But you should easily be able to put this into a track. I'm learning Ableton myself so if I knew I'd totally tell you... if this was Logic Pro, np. But I'm not sure with Ableton, sorry.

  • @thepluginguru thanks a lot for the answer! going to look into it... keep up the great work and dont listen to the haters :) they are just jealous they cant do patches like this from scratch :)

  • Dude-owski!!!! I use Razor on a daily basis.. These patches are awesome! Very well done..

  • ill buy the synth for christmass.. cant wait to go crazy on it..

i will buy it not to make Dubstep, but try to figure out how to make transformer sounds..

(And ofcourse dark techno :) )

maby you can do a video on that too :p

  • @Kyoshi2012 - Kyoshi - go crazy my friend !!

  • if anyone can make these patches then why sell something thats free?

btw i can copy your knob positions

    if i wanted to

you plug-ins do sound beast btw

i just dont believe that a free by-product of this software should be sold

but then-again im not hatin on you cause anyone can just choose not to buy

but yeh i am making presets and spoofing up my presets everyday now

  • @dudearlo - I don't want to get all heavy on ya, Dude. But this is my profession. This is how I make my living. I don't do this on the weekends when I get home from another job. I've been working at getting better since 1988 and still have a lot to learn. But I've learned a lot and if you study my patches, you can learn many things from doing just that... instead I also take the time to make free video tutorials and with Razor I include an exclusive video with the patches.. Thx 4 being honest.

  • @thepluginguru ive been a sound engineer for 12 years, this is a brilliant idea to include a video!!

I have no problem paying for presets (especially when they only cost as much as an 8 pack of beer) these sound great and a good starting point for most electronic music types. i think people should be paid for their work, you wouldn't hear someone say "i'm not buying that painting - because i have my own paint"

  • @onamissionmanyo - your comment is very much appreciated. Thank you.

  • @dudearlo .. if someone spends time on its wich helps some one else.. its not crazy to pay for it... teachers do that all the time ;) (information is sometimes free, sometimes not) ..

I hope i get payed good to do what i love someday too :)

  • @Kyoshi2012 oh i didnt mean any disrespect to the plugin guru at all

    he is a vst genius

  • @dudearlo

If you really liked a band and got a chance to see them live... would you buy a physical copy of the cd or just wait till you get home and steal it off the internet?

We all sometimes get things for free on the internet... but by supporting this guy now, you will continue to get awesome shit in the future.

Eventually if nobody supported him he would just quit altogether, and then you wouldn't have anything to steal in the first place.

  • @whoissunsetter hey man i didnt mean to bag on the plugin guru

he really is a genus i should have opened my ears instead of my mouth

  • I bought these presets about 3 days ago and I have yet to be able to get them to work. It keeps saying: error while reading file C:/Program Files etc. (it says the location of the preset) then: No valid reference to ensemble in preset data.

I have put the presets in so many different folders, from snapshot folder to presets folder and even more. I have tried dragging the preset into a blank Reaktor, my version is 5.6.2.

If there is anything you can help with it would be much appreciated.

  • you made me buy it for my birthday today :-)

  • @NoahNeiman - good news! Have fun!

  • @NoahNeiman saaaaaaaame i bought it today for my dayyyyy!

  • It would seem to me that the real hidden power in Razor is in it's additive digital synthesis sounds. That is, not concentrating on filters and wobbles for dubstep/trance analog-type sounds, but complicated, rapidly subtly evolving sounds. Sort of like a modern Synclavier if you will. You have some of those sounds here, such as "Holodeck", "Freefall" and "Mod Wheel Shorty", are perfect examples.

  • @zenmachinefilms - yup - I hope I was clear enough that this instrument is totally unique sounding to everything else that is available... and while Holodeck and those types are truly unique, the harmonics it creates for potential disaster on the dance floor can't be ignored either.... !!

  • 4:46 "Today's computers are not powerful enough to handle what this thing can do"

I like this guy's enthusiasm but this is bullocks of coarse...

I own a computer with a i7 980x @ 4Ghz installed and this synth gives me a maximum CPU consumption of 40% at 1 core! The note stealing has nothing to do with the power of the CPU but it's the synths maximum polyphony what is causing this. It's a nice synth but it sounds very "metallic"

  • @reservos - I could totally be wrong - I'm using a 3 year old computer and things have advanced greatly. I'm gladly the first to admit I might be wrong....

  • @thepluginguru

Maybe it's time to buy yourself a new computer, cause it's obvious you like what you're doing.

(and you really know what you're doing! ;)

  • @reservos - You're Right! I've written my letter to Santa already..... ;D

  • Skippy the bush kangaroo? O_o

  • @MrJETCITY - Ha! Check my Favorites and you'll find the theme song :D My colleagues at Korg used to sing the theme to me.... haha

  • Are you Phillip Defrancos Uncle?...No man, just joshing with you. Thanks for the full explanation of the software. Very sexy sounds 2, goodness!

  • Enjoyed the demo. I have bought your products in the past and will likely buy Razor in addition to your program though I am concerned about the CPU drain. So what is "freeze" @ 4:50?

  • @scalenguy05 - for some of us with slightly older computers, there is a feature in almost every sequencer now that will bounce down a virtual instrument track, bypass the instrument and play an audio file in the background so that your computer doesn't have to calculate the synth (audio is almost a 0 on the CPU). This way you could have 8 RAZOR tracks playing but if they are all "frozen" - then you could play them and your computer doesn't cough and die...

  • Cool patches and love the "2hrs later" @ 13:58. Done that so many times, ;)

  • great job bro! Patches sound great!

  • Awesome video, I've been waiting for this one. The pads sound so nice and complex.

  • Bad-Ass! I'd been meaning to take a minute and hear what this sounds like. Always a pleasure to watch you test-drive, though, John :)

  • i knew theres a reason why i bought reaktor 4 years ago...finally ive found it!

  • Awesome

  • nice sounds! im sold!
