i honestly think that Disco and House music missed each other by but a mere decade or so,, we have to reunite the 2 now ,,its a beautiful combination :) ;)
I always felt the burning of those records was a form of aggression of the type that is provoked by ignorance and fear of the unknown, like the fear of not understanding other sensibilities, including sexual preferences. Disco was considered a homosexual taste in the United States and represented a new type of European sophistication and irony. The burning of those records is an infantile self-portrait of all those who favoured it and ultimately, and act of homophobia.
This truly brings back great memories of when people went out to dance and have fun. Disco may have been short lived but it closed many racial and gender gaps. I had friends of all races and preferences. This was the best time of my life and I still have this album and many more disco albums from this time in my life. Thanks for the memories.
@tbenyard it also closed sexuality prejudices. we all danced together having fun. to hear the music as you arrived and people whooping and hollering on the floor. fantastic times. ultimately, homophobia and the advent of aids helped to end the disco era. people moved on. but i don't care what anyone says...dance music today is still DISCO.
This is indeed a classic. This, Cerrone's Love in C Minor, Celi Bee's Superman, Andrea Tru, NY NY You've Got Me dancing and so many more.. Oh ya, Mass Production, Welcome To Our World... great stuff
Thank You for posting!! My mom bought this album for me when I was 12, even though she didn't approve of 'Push Push'. Didn't a certain rock & roll magazine vote this 'worst disco record of all time'? I LOVED it and it's one of the few I still have! (Still has the price sticker,too- $5.95 LOL)
Fabulous track! Anthemic sound and those wonderful high strings - real proper strings too. Patrick Adams the producer, did a great job here. Still have the 12" and the album it's from on vinyl - sounds better than the CD.
This music still touches your heart-Too bad that cant be said of todays garbage music with no real musicians~! People used to look forward to hearing this music in the clubs and at home on a real good stereo I have this Jam on vinyl today and transfered it onto cd sounds incredible!!
I remember seeing this group of woman who sang to the tracks I believe in 1980 and they were cute and did a good job. That's when disco was fun and did I have me some super times back then. My family and I would just have our house jumping with the latest stuff. This group we loved and my sister bought the album but "Push Push IN the Bush" was the best!
Aweome, Awesome track. I agree with the previous comments that the intention of the writer, musicians and vocal performers are, first and foremost, to take the listener to an unseen, but rea romantic space in time. What lovely musicianship! The melody, arrangement take the lead as the rhythm provides the thrust. Take it away, Musique!
Damn wow I've been looking for this classic for a while happen to be listening to Pandora's radio and heard it. I knew YouYube may have it, thanks for sharing this wonderful disco classic. I thought of all muisc sites Rhopsody would've had it wanted to purchase it they don't even have it I'm shocked thought they carry every music track.. Thanks again, Happy Thanksgiving all
Wow. Disco was just great music. At least it managed to morph into house & techno-instead of dying off.Still..funk & disco from the 70's was special.Thanx for posting.
I think we need to open a place to dance...hopefully in NYC where people would come from all around the world to dance to these wonderful songs... I realize it would take millions of dollars.... and then even with that could it happen ? they say history repeats itself...I for one would love to be there every night... my dream place would have only the music from 1977 78 and 79 with perhaps only a few exceptions... personally once we got into the 80s I didn't care for most music...
@joancollins54 I so agree here in the UK we had all your brilliant Disco tunes back then, Im so jeoulous of the USA, the clubs must been wicked then, We had a good scene too, but not as good as yours, i so wish their was a club playing music of the late 70s, you know it does not exsist here anymore, i also still wear tha clothes of the 70s/80s wide collared satin shirts and flares, I think im the only one in London like that,I don't see anyone dress like me, Does that sound strange to you.
@Secretaryboy I sent a TWeet to Nikki Haskell who is by the way having a party tonight and the REAL JOAN Collins will be there! Nikki was at STUDIO 54 a lot but not as much as me! I think its great you like the music and fashion from that era. If I were rich I would get a bunch of people and open a disco. but im an NOT the actress...
I was living in New York City in the late 70's, what a great time to be there. Disco was in high gear and everyone was dancing and just having a good time. To me so many disco songs were very romantic. What could be better then dancing with the one you love to a romantic song? Glad I was there to expereince it all. I still miss it and hope that one day, while I can still dance, it all comes back!
Andreasus4thdj, thank you sooooooooo much for taking me back to the 70s with my favorite dance classic in the world!!! The disco era was the best and you could let yourself loose and have a good time!!! How I miss those days so much. 50 stars all the way & faved :-D
wow....what memories thnx for posting. brings me back to the days of when disco first started, the clubs in Brooklyn...this was mine & my HS Gf's Song...
this is a great song! I still have the original album from 1978. I was only 14 at the time so i had to pick and choose what albums to buy because of lack of money. What great times! THANK YOU for posting!
I adore this song. I bought the 12" for 80 UK pence in 1978. It's great on vinyl to listen to on the 12" you get so much base and depth as it's a 12" 45rpm and the grooves span all the vinyl. It's a classy song and I play it as much as I can. Patrick Adams is a god. Thanks for this. x
great classic!! -- BTW you disco fans out here are my last hope. I thought it's MUSIQUE or a remix, but it's not. The lyrics goes "Summer love - you'll never be forgotten" and another part starts off with "Summer breeze...". Lo' and behold, the tempo is almost the same as this piece's.
This is a perfect example of why we still love and miss music from the 1970's. This is absolute perfection. A disc jockey's dream. A dancer's ultimate dance track. You can close your eyes and go on a journey. Its so damn beautiful , full of luxury and depth. Much like Barry White's music was. The instrumental theme is full of joy and memory too. Its a song that you just never can forget it once you hear it. I never get tired of it. Summer Love is # 296 on my Top 3000 Songs Of All Time !
This song had a beginning, a middle, and a end. it took you you on a journey. Its brings back GREAT memories of that innocent good felt music of my DJ years in Brooklyn, NY aka FANTASIA: And we had an awesome sound system to boot!
A great album back in the days when you could actually touch your partner when you danced with them. Google Patrick Adams of see just how influential he has become.
Wow...PURE DISCO SOUND HERE!!! I feel like wetting my pants upon the opening notes to this one! We LOVED dancing to this!!!! Takes me back to the second floor of The Branding Iron restaurant El Paso Texas!!!
I couldn't understand why people were burning 'disco' records, with great tracks like this? I could only imagine, they were jealous that there were certain people enjoying a beautiful time. I wish it would come back.
They were fans of rock music who (wrongly) felt that disco was being rammed down their throats so during a Chicago Cubs game all the fanatics went to the field with their disco albums, 8 tracks and so on and set it on fire.
Other than the drugs getting out of control in some clubs plus the campiness....I saw no problem with the disco music and wished it had greater longevity.
@Chasson0318: Amen! There is bad disco and there is good disco like this track. The bad thing is, most of the "bad" disco got played on the airwaves while the good disco didn't get as much airplay, but that's my theory anyways!
I heard the first notes, and literally burst into tears. I was 19, and knew my life would only get better and better(so wrong). I ran every club in New York, sometimes five, six days a week. The last time I heard Summer Love, ABC Sports used the instrumental to bridge into a commercial break during a golf tournament, also in '78. Oh my God. Thank you.
BTW, why does everybody feel empowered to use our logo(member '81-'87)?

Wish they would have done more LP's after Musique II. Peace out!
Well you're wrong! This music that your mom help make with Patrick Adams gave us a LOT of joy. People tore the clubs up.
The best disco song. The best loud ever made.Incredible voices, chorus. Patrick Adams created this masterpiece in 1978.Incredible. The music was better than now New musicians must imitate this sounds.
