man.....you have to be REALLY bad at chess to think that your in an advantageous position while your ONE MOVE away from checkmate xD. seriously thats freaking impossible and ive seen it so many freakin times in films/tv. Another example is that scene in Bicentennial Man where there playing and the women thinks hes "letting her win" and then he mates her the very next move. how in the hell?!?!? YOUR ONE MOVE FROM MATE AND YOU THINK UR WINNING??!?! GTFO!!!!!!

@5Poppers9 nah nut rlly... for unexperienced players it is real easy to overlook a smothered mate or a pin that eliminates defence. especially when they are playing with beautiful women and bragging bout how clever they are.
the good thing bout it is: for beginners chess has many surprising elements, for better players it is a game full of mysteries and philosophie/history, what not
