I don't get you, you're contradicting yourself. On the one hand, you cite "borders" and "identity" and see the monarchy as a defence of our "Britishness", yet you welcome them as rulers despite their non-British origins. @bolloxinator we are known all around the world for our monarchy - its the most famous and internationally respected one by a country mile (and reviled in enemy countries like ireland). it is part of our identity whether you like it or not so id like to keep it as so would 75% of brits, just like the french being proud of their republic as a reminder of their history of the French Revolution
and as for your last comment, i'd rather pay the queens expenses than MPs.

youve missed the point. the french revolution was an important part of french history so they are proud to be a republic - its who they are. the monarchy is an important part of our history so i dont see why we should remove it. clearly you dont understand the 'sentimental' emotion that humans have.
