one of de best films ever made. top acting performances from all the major actors. beautifully crafted story. definately one of the best movies ever. a lovely soundtrack too . the violin part is played by joshua bell (who interestingly has a minor role too in the film- he is the co-leader of the orchestra in this scene)

you can get them in all sorts categories. When you start, you dont really need an expensive one. I think you can get one for around 150-200€. I now play the violin for 13 years, so i use a more expensive instrument.

Since the movie recordings are all done by one person it's likely that he's faking, but he's very well taught in how to do it. Mimicking the motions would be much easier than the sound. I think they did a very good job prepping these people. I'm a violinist as well, so I've been keeping an eye on their hands to see if it's possible they could play, and it seems very likely.

The violin maker's son was sent to a religious orphanage. He had the violin and played for a degerate prince who wanted the violin and the boy. The boy raised his bow to play, dripped dead, the violin was buried with him, and gypsies robbed his grave and stole the violin.

A wonderful movie except for political correctness, with the excellent samuel jackson cast as the world's greatest violin expert: it says "affirmative action" loud and clears. It's a fantasy piece, anyway.

This movie is old...the time it was set is even older.....but the story and plot is beautiful and romantic. The way the plot unravels on us with such care, surprising us that the cards play a role in the destiny of the woman that transcends death, makes this movie a classic.

O and perhaps most musicians would be terrible actors. This is why experienced actors are used in movies, musicians are used in ensembles.
