hi can you play a "full" set on the pads, bass drum (with trigger pad), snare, hi-hat, crash, maybe ride, stand tom, small tom and then put a full 3 min guitar riff on one of the other pads and maybe a loop on another one that constantly run for like 3 minutes while i keep on playing the drums? i got a roland hd 1 and i´m not sure if i should keep it or maybe just use the spds with a bass drum trigger. for what i´m planning to do it seems to be working as well.
I say keep your hd-1. I have a TD4K and am going to purchase one of these to expand the kit. You could run them both through BFD or something for an awesome kit!
You could also plug the spd-s into your stereo input of your HD-1 and mix the signal through the kit.
I think the SPD-S can run 12minute samples in long mode so you could have guitars and effects playing at the same time as playing the HD-1. Hope this helps!
yeh they are not bad, I have an SPD20 at home, I find the SPDS (featured in the video) a slight improvement but neither come close to the mesh head v-drum kits! ;)
when is roland going to update the spd-20/spds line? anybody know? these units have been out for a long time, while technology has passed them by. i want to pull the trigger, so to speak, and buy one or both, but dont want to only to have them release something new 6 months later.
Ive been looking into pads for a while and i want to get a pad w/ brain the runs through a PA system so if im playin the drums i can hit the pad and it will make a suound, and the sound i want to use is called a bass boom or bass hit, you hear them often in hardcore music. can these produce that sound?
to answer your question, yes this can produce that sound. you can load your own samples into this pad. it's perfect for what you want but the only problem is that it's $500
first I want to know if I can use it to play drums in a trip where I can't have my whole drumset.
secondly does anyone know what are the differences between spd-s and alesis performance pad? Because I only want it for excercising when on holidays or for a little expansion on my td-3.
that was cool. Where do you get the that sirene sample? Do you maybe know ny good sites where you can download trance samples or other samples without paying?
im pertty sure it is im mean you can pertty much do anyhting with these things, have sertin playlists you know all thats stuff. just to make sure ask on the roland site because im not 100% sure
Roger Andrew Taylor (the drummer for Duran Duran) has the Roland SPD-S attached to his Tama drumset (which can be seen on the band's 2004 Wembley Arena concert DVD,).
i shall be furthering this project very soon as there is massive potential to 'drum' up interest in Roland products in the store. No less than 4 people asked me about this project and how much the SPDS cost while I was making it, and nobody ever stops to look at the SPDS normally. Kamoni rules, you can tell the difference, his sound very pro, im a keyboard player/pianist really but would like to reach his standard at some point with my rescent interest in percussion.
lol, i recorded it at bit crap, I did it while the till staff were cashing up in a rush. Im going to add some rasta vocals and record it at a better angle when I get time.
do u have put samples on it like sounds or it has sound and how much sounds does it have ?????

yo why is the spd-20 more expensive mate?
pcfresh88 3 years ago
Possibly because it has two more pads.
t0rment2004 3 years ago
Actually, the spd 20 has 1 less pad then the spd-s.. so thats not it.
thebetterhalf37 3 years ago
They are normally the same price.. the spds has sampling capability and one extra pad but the spd20 has a huge selection of sounds.
