This is truly one of my favorite covers of Emily, though I love them all. I think what I love about this cover Blubrock is the the direction you went with the arrangement and the voice -- esp the way you say "her heart" it is a heart tugger in itself. Keep up the good work.
What's the name of that chord at 1:04? 3rd and 4th on 2nd fret and 2nd string on 3rd fret right? (sounds right at least) but it's not on any of my chord charts, lol
YOu know this is an amazing cover and one of my favorites -- it is obvious that a lot of work went into your version of Reina's song. She is an amazing singer/songwriter and you do her justice. No comparisons since you are both are wonderful and unique in your own right!
I think Em would also work for E or E7, but the song really works the way it was written. Beautiful little waltz by a talented young lady, and covered really well here.
If you have written any songs I would love to you perform those songs for us. But if you are still putting your songs together, I would really love to see what you would do with Reinadelcid's song "Kindness, Cypress tree."
I've been trying to write some lyrics but so far I don't have a song that I'm completely satisfied with. I'll consider a cover of "Kindness". Actually I already thought about it before I chose "Emily". Thanks for your support.
P.S. don't be so hard on yourself while you are doing this, you already have the makings of fan base on here. Trust us and trust yourself -- I think you and "us" will grow in the process. Also remember the internet can be a wierd place, so just ignore those who get wierd and mean!
I agree, can't get this song out of my head since I heard Reinadelcid's original and now this cover has just reinforced it! Now if I can just figure out how to download the MP3 file Blubrock provided us, darn!
I'm familiar with some of John Prine's music, notably "Angel from Montgomery". Thanks for making me aware of his great songs again. And you're right, Prine has a style that I really can relate to. There are certainly similarities in Reina's songs, too.
Oh wow! Congratulations, you made an excellent version of the excellent song by Reina, it's amazing!!! Keep working, you're great. Are you working on music professionally?
So I opened your song and hers in two windows and they synch up pretty well, although there are gaps and breaks at different spots. With a little creative editing someone could paste them up side by side and have you singing and playing together. That's beyond my skill. Anyone?
awesome work country man... I just wonder why a talented guitar player as u r have to cover... I'm sure you could write a great song on your own, and I hope you'll do it
Thanks for the encouragement. It's not easy to write a fine song. I've got a lot of good melodies but I just can't seem to find appropriate lyrics for them. That's why I admire Reina for her songwriting talent. Hopefully I'll finish a song sometime...
"They" say "Imitation is the purest form of flattery." ReinDelCid usually entertains us with an acoustic version of her songs, which sound great even in their non-studio form. I'm sure she has a vision/plan for what her songs would sound like accompanied by other instruments. Thank you for giving us your version of what Emily could sound like with additional arrangements. While listening to this video you reminded me of someone, then I realized it was Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits.

You do credit to the singers that you say are your "Influences" on your channel! Your voice is tremendously good for this kind of song. You may want to make it a "video response" to Reina's video so that more people will be able to see it. 5*
Tobi when Reina did this I seen ball room dancers waltzing in my head
When I listened to your version I suddenly had the urge to put on my flannel shirt and run out to buy a straw hat and a plug of Red Man chewing tobbacco
My grannys country fried chicken in a iron skillet wasn't this country fried
Oh. My. God. This is absolutely stunning! I wish you could've seen my face as I began watching this; it was a mixture of utter disbelief and giddy happiness. You took this song and ran with it, in probably the best possible direction.
Thanks so much! I'm actually amazed myself that it turned out so well. I'm pretty good with arranging songs but it's your songwriting that makes this tune special.

He sings it more like a blues song then a waltz or a country song. and i think it sounds better as blues. thats my opinion

kalaway 3 years ago
That looks/sounds like an A7 to me (X02020), except the high E string doesn't sound like it's being voiced, so the highest note in the chord is a C#.
Awesome cover man! Your voice sounds great with this style of music.

The chords used are D G A(or A7)and E(or E7).
