John Crieghton was an astronaught NOT an athelete. He was shot through a wormhole. Anybody..... Anybody..... oh well.
I bought an old novelisation of this and the Doctor was discribed THREE different ways! As Pertwee, Baker and even Davidson. Malcolm Hulke was really on the ball.
I'm waiting for this, I got Planet of the Spiders on video but as soon as it or this make it to DVD I'm in. I don't mind 1974 special effects, it's the story that matters.
lol @ the blatent classism of these arugments. Its basically: "SJ was respectable, eloqent woman of the upper crust. Not like the working and lower middle class riff raff we have today!"
Elisabeth Sladen's "Sarah Jane" was girl-next-door REAL, gutsy, adult, capable, and intelligent, with a good dose of feisty independence. Plus Lis Sladen's subtle adult sexiness made the mini-skirt wearing wannabe's seem adolescent next to her!
Watch SJS break open the Webley revolver in "Genesis..", aim the Browning HP at Ms, Winters in "Robot", use the rifle in "Pyramids.."; she's as deadly as Leela, but smarter and more capable.
I'm a massive fan of Sarah Jane/Elisabeth Sladen. I like her character, the extra on time warrior made me smile a bit. the bit about Jon Pertwee's reaction to Liz when he first met her. If you've watched it you'll know what i mean.
They repeated some Dr Who shows back in the 1990s. To my knowledge this one has never been repeated. Probably because the first episode's black and white and the dinosaurs are a bit unconvincing.
Yes, she was quite the little cupcake in her day. The amazing thing is that Liz Sladen in pushing 60 and she still looks fantastic. Hard to tell if she's had anything nipped or tucked, but if she has it was wonderfully done and if she hasn't her daughter will thak her for the great DNA. SJS looked best in the Tom Baker years when her hair grew out a bit. Watch Pyramids of Mars or Hand of Fear to see what I mean.
The only thing crude here is your disparagement of Catherine Tate's character, about whom you seem to have rather missed the point. Donna Noble starts out as a very shallow character. However, as happens with most of the Doctor's associates since Jo Grant, the time she spends with the Doctor opens her up to new horizons and makes her a better person.
I quite agree. Watching her in the more recent episodes, I find myself thinking I'll be happy if I look half that good at her age. Anyone who doubts that the current production team respects the program's past need only look at how they've incorporated SJS as a central part of the current continuity.

SJS was and is a shining star of Dr Who. I'll always love this classy lady and the special quality she brings to TV.

This was the last story to be released on VHS in 2003.
The only story on DVD from this season is THE TIME WARRIOR.

Some people say that there are too many repeats on TV.
So why haven't they repeated a few of the old Dr Who eposides.
I can't remember this one ever being repeated.

I do not enjoy the old ones, but it was interesting to see Sarah Jane Smith in her younger years!

Agree - she was a touch of class ! rather than the "I really fancy you Doctor " new assistants and the crude fish wife of Catherine Tate

no she is badly spoken and common - probably a bit like you !

That an ad hominem attack is the most cogent response you can muster speaks for itself.
