Kobe only gets credit for single handily leading the US over Spain when we absolutely needed it, but LB and D-Wade have been the ones who were a lot more consistent throughout the tournament and their stats were better than Kobe (and D-Wade didn't even start as many games as Kobe did.)

Kobe holds or shares 30 or more Laker records, holds 4 NBA records and shares 5 of them (and one can bet that had MJ been in the league eariler, he'd probably have those records.
For Kobe to be considered amongst the elite for me, I'm waiting for him to lead his team to a championship and have some phenomenal playoff numbers while doing so. He has that type of team now.

Shaq led the Lakers to their 3 titles. He was regular season and Finals MVP in the 99-00 season, and was Finals MVP when the Lakers won all 3 titles this decade (99-00, 00-01, 01-02. No other Laker won an individual MVP during that stretch (unless you count Kobe's All-Star MVP in 02).
Wade led Shaq to the Heat's title.
Just about everyone is hungry for rings and that it's their #1 priority.

Yeah I grew up watching Jordan too. He grew up in an era where hand checking was allowed. If Jordan was in his prime today he would have definitely scored more. You forget that Jordan had one HOFer (Pippen) who was a good small forward but Kobe had perhaps one of the best offensive centers of all time in Shaq. No comparison. MJ is better.

Shaq has been in the finals with 3 different teams. Kobe will never be better than MJ. When MJ was in his prime, he was winning the championship, finals MVP, league's leading scorer, league MVP, all-star MVP, 1st team all-defensive. If you don't call that domination, I don't know what you call it. Kobe will never be able to achieve that in one season.

Jordan did not benefit from "no contact rules" on the perimeter, physical defense was allowed, the league was more talented in the 80's & 90's, compare stats & achievements at the same ages and you will that it is not even an argument.

You know what makes me laugh? Kobe haters always come back to 1 argument: MJ's better than Kobe. Doesn't that tell you how great Kobe is? You have trouble finding things to criticize, so you fall back on the one thing that always works--comparing him to the G.O.A.T.
