not to sound like a bad person but you should have shot them, the damn things are all over the roads, and feeding them in your back yard will only make the problem worse.
This is really a question for my Dad - he's the deer man, while I live in New York City. But, I myself can confidently tell you that deer in the wild are perfectly capable of taking care of themselves regardless of human assistance, as they've done for centuries. We humans generally put out feed not to sustain deer, but to attract them for our own delight and amusement. So just relax and enjoy the show!
my ? is How do I know if I'm feeding them enough? Since the extra deer have been feeding I have started putting out a couple of medium size dog dishes later at night with some of the mixture in them as well just to be sure all of them get something to eat. I don't want to overfeed them, but I definitely don't want them to go hungry. Any thoughts?
I really enjoyed seeing your video & the good care you take of our furry & feathered friends. I live in Logan County WV & we have the same critters as you. Got a question for you, we have 3 deer that live on our property & have for several years, I have been feeding them pretty much them same mixture you do ~ I have a bucket (approx. 3 gallon) about the same size as yours. This seemed to be enough for the 3 deer, but this year a couple more have joined the group...
