Gingrich stated outright in the debate that he supports amnesty for illegal immigrants who have been here for 25 years or more. Mitt Romney has a differrent view. No special pathway to legal status by means of simply coming here illegaly.
Why do some people have so much trouble hearing? Gingrich said he does not support amnesty and said it quite clearly during the debate. He said he supported allowing illegals to apply for worker visas so that they could legally stay in the country (so families are not separated) but that they would have to get at the back of the line for citizenship. Romney supports allowing them to apply for permanent residence (which is like a worker visa) or citizenship. Same position.
Gingrich stated for people who have been in the country 25 years of more illegally, with ties to a church and a job that he would give a path to citizenship. That my friend is amnesty. Basically a reward for taking jobs that Americans should have. People like Gingrich are the problem today.
This guy can't even remember the 3 parts of gov't he'd abolish. Alzheimer's already. who could vote for such a man?? flip flops constantly! Only one man will stop all the wars and bring back peace! that's Ron Paul.
@Onieracraft I really disagree. He is nothing like Gingrich. Gingrich wants amnesty, Romney does not.
Gingrich is out of touch, he discusses the Occupied movement protesters as they should " take a bath and then go get a job!?" If they had a job, there would be no need for this movement in the first place. Gingrich is clueless. He just another rich self serving republican. Romney won over a very blue state, Mass. For a republican he's o.k. in my book. We need someone who actually cares.
@future4you Uhh no, Gingrich does not support amnesty, he has stated it OUTRIGHT during the debates. Have you even seen any of the debates IN THEIR ENTIRETY ?
It's the same position he had for years: the red card policy encouraged by the Krieble foundation. Here he is discussing it a few years ago in a debate with Howard Dean. It is indistinguishable from Romney's plan: they both give illegals a chance to become ether citizens or residents with no special pathways watch?v=IBk0PuOpTIs
I have a feeling that the people who are doing it "right" are people with at least a bit of money. Probably the majority of illegals are too poor to go through the "right" channels; they're probably desperate. Once again, rich versus poor.

Romney indicated he couldnt have Mexicans working on his property b/c he was running for public office
But his ancestors were Mexicans
His dad was an illegal alien to the USA
He still has dozens of cousins who're Mexican citizens
He'll never have a touigh immigration policy after election

For the LORD, your God, is the God of gods,
the LORD of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome,
who has no favorites, accepts no bribes;
who executes justice for the orphan and the widow,
and befriends the alien, feeding and clothing him.
So you too must befriend the alien,
for you were once aliens yourselves in the land of Egypt.... - DT, 10:17-19

Excellent straightforward answer by Romney. When the magnets all dry up, all those illegal Mexicans will self deport in large numbers.
