in the newest DA codex it says that their storm shields give a 4+ inv. save, and in the newest marine codex it says that storm shields give a 3+ inv save.
can i play with the 3+ save or do i have to play with the 4+?
Well as it is its own stand alone Codex you would play with the 4+ invuln as that is what the codex says. So for tournaments and official events thats the way it works.
Remember the codex was made prior to the new space Marine Codex and is in no way dependent on the vanilla marine codex for any wargear or rules
That's just the way it is. Generic Marines codex was released after Dark Angels for 5th edition and Dark Angels was for 4th edition (correct me if I'm wrong). Its the same in Black Templars, and Blood Angels, its a 4+ invulnerable ONLY in close combat where as Generic Marines codex has the 3+ invulnerable against everything all the time. Its just the way things are until a new codex is out and about. Possibly next year from what I've heard around the web.
By everyone you just mean the Vanilla Marine Codex and Space Wolves.
Remember the marine codex came out after the Dark Angel one prior to that everyone had the 4+. Agreed that it would make thigns simpler as far as wargear goes.
Dont worry when the codices are redone they will most likely have the new 3+ save.
Because they're all standalone codexies and there all 4th edition. Its not like the KeeperoftheFortress said where in the older editions you refer to the primary marines codex because they were expansion codexies. It would totally kick ass if you just referred to the stats in the Generic Marines codex but we(being BA,DA and BT players) just have to live with the fact (for the moment) that we have inferior equipment. Its just a matter of time before a nice shiny new codexies are released .
Well no. its not a core rulebook thing. Its a codex wargear dependent thing. So Stormshields are not 3+ in 5th ed. It just so happens the current trend of space marine codices that come out after 5th are getting a 3+ invuln. We play with what our codex gives us and for the moment its a 4+ invuln in CC only. Its not like its bad that is still good just not quite the superness of 3+ all the time.
i got a question...
in the newest DA codex it says that their storm shields give a 4+ inv. save, and in the newest marine codex it says that storm shields give a 3+ inv save.
can i play with the 3+ save or do i have to play with the 4+?

ok, thx.
the thing i ment with this question is that why should the other guys have better shields then the DAs have?
i guess we don't need it. "our faith is our shield". right? :P

all DA, BT and BA players should be able to play with 3+ inv since everyone else can do it
