@jackminardi proportional controller sense a long time difference from the control input value and the system output, with an high proportional gain you're able to minimize set error, but it can't sense fast change and other stuff.
derivative and integrative controllers can sense temporal changes, that's why using all of these give a better control over system dynamic.
@xasdrubalex proportional controllers iare powerfull and easy to implement, but they may cause system instability, they are andy in a lot of case, but they can't be the best choise in different use cases.
