After 4 minutes of listening it sounds like this woman hasn't learned anything since she was 18. She sounds like she's 18. She looks like she is trying to look 18. Don't misunderstand. It doesn't mean she doesn't have value
@tnguyen318 You have no idea why she is saying what she is saying. I don't know her motivations either. Except the ones she states such as making womens "space for new roles in society" a little wider and further etc. Listen again maybe?
Have moxie. You'll be surprised how often the thing preventing you from obtaining your goals is your self-doubt or assumptions about what you're capable of. This speech resonated with a Berkeley graduate of 2007. Fiat lux.
This address was so beautiful and moving. I love her two themes: having moxie and interconnectedness. She was a perfect choice for these graduates, who all are ready to join the throngs of people who strive to make the world a better place.

Okay, ladies, she just gave you license to push us dumb guys onto the street. Us dudes aren't socially adept, anyway. You should just insist we go to war to die, or become damaged goods, twisted minds, and demented souls. We just don't know how to get along.
@jittendroloin oh of course, it is completely REAL, OBVIOUS, & PAINFUL for those of us who choose to see it. ignorance is bliss for those who refuse to see all the OBVIOUS OBVIOUS opportunities to be aware. thank you for making that clarification for others who may have not realized what i meant
@creatine64 no i am not. i'm educated and critical of the hidden hegemony of white supremacy in our world. i'm far from racist actually, if you knew me; i'm dissapointed in people who speak of being interconnected and want to get past differences but do not reach out beyond their own levels of comfort in their white privilege.
@ireppdorkk Well said! BTW, it's not a "hidden hegemony"...if you look past the popular media, it's pretty obvious. You hit it right on the nose when you referenced "levels of comfort." That applies to us all. Good on you for bringing up the issue; it's pushing the envelope of comfort for us all; otherwise the paradigm will never shift.
@ireppdorkk u say that u are "far from racist" but the comment u 1st made says otherwise, it’s sad that u don't even see it. u are making an assumption of this person based off of what she is saying & assuming that she isn't reaching out beyond her own comfort level. I bet if u went to a school that was predominately black & had some1 giving a commencement speech it would involve a lot of quotes from black individuals that they look up to. please don't cut ur nose off to spite ur face.
white commencement speaker. quotes from white individuals. ONLY white people in the video she made. this is how she wants us to be interconnected???? DISAPPOINTING.
2 hours ago Tiffany, you and your presentation were OUTSTANDING~ I am certain UC Berkeley
is proud to have invited you and I'm sure this pride extends amongst your family and
especially, your Father. You were so passionate and exuded such confidence. I am further certain your speech, because of its relevance, simplicity and power will remain with the graduates forever. Congratulations...you succeeded with grace and inspiration.
Wow, what a moving speech, Tiffany! Such a great message about this amazing time we live in and about being connected. I like your father's idea of unplugging every once in a while...relieves my guilt of not updating my facebook status in weeks. :)
You are one of my heros. You're sweet and smart and so natural in front of a billion people. Thank you for staying true to yourself and sharing your gifts.
Thank you for sending this out for all to share. It is so perfectly articulate for this moment in time, and beyond. You inspired me and filled my coffee with tears.
I remember the very first email you sent me at Sundance. "Dear Ms. Munroe, My film, Life Liberty & The Pursuit of Happiness is screening in Los Angeles. I would love for you to see it and will hold a ticket for you at the door." Tiffany, your moxie continues to invigorate me as a woman, as a filmmaker and I am in love with the idea that our, your and my, interdependence will be forever!
What an amazing sppech! Your words will resonate over and over in the thoughts of these graduates, guiding them to courage and exploration. I loved watching you, as you obviously enjoyed being up there, and also watching the faces of the graduates, eager to hear you, faces so serious and focused. Worth watching over and over!
GO GIRL!! Really inspiring keynote, one of the most riveting and interesting I have ever heard, and between mine, my friends, my kids, my friends kids, I have heard a lot of them. Thanks so much for sending it. The Margaret Mead quote is on our wall here at the Mental Health Board and inspires us to continue this work.
Thank you for forwarding the commencement speech. I listened in it's entirety and it brought tears to my eyes. Powerful and thought provoking... It should serve them well as they fly from the nest into the world-wide world. You are a truly amazing. Thanks again and all the best!
What an amazing woman. I am not an advocate of human cloning but in Tiffany's case I would make an exception. A world full of Tiffany Shlains would be a very beautiful world indeed.
Tiffany, you are such a beautiful inspiration for all women as a wife and mother! I love the John Muir quote and its relevance to life today, it's so true! ...and that you encouraged the graduating women to have kids! It can be such a challenge feeling like we need to make a choice between being in the world making a difference and being a mom. You have exemplified that there is room for both! Thank you!
I love you and your family...congratulations on all accounts!

Here is how The System should be. After students graduate they will work directly for the Government. They will go where they need to go.
A. Farming and Agriculture.
B. Health and Medicine.
C. Engineering and Technology.

@tnguyen318 I think you need to grow up a bit. Then tell people how the "System should be".
