  • As usual with Brendel - adequate developmental tension, yet severely lacking in grace (a much needed expressive attribute in this movement).

  • @lourak as usual with this kind of comment, adequate use of words, yet severely lacking understanding that Brendel's grace abounds throughout the movement. Listen beyond the surface (a much needed cognitive attribute to any good listener).

  • @otavioandradas So true... no one can get what isn't understood. How can you appreciate something if you ignore the rules?

  • @lourak Thanks for responding! Well - instead of insulting my prose and my musical intelligence, you might want to direct me to where the "grace" lies in this performance, so that I may catch a glimpse of it. I am looking for things that are typically apparent on the foreground: - control of the sonority of the instrument (a particular area of failing for Brendel); delicacy of touch; a wider and more controlled dynamic range; tapering off of phrases...

  • @lourak before you start criticizing Brendel's performance, please try to learn how to use YOUTUBE. You've responded to YOURSELF, not to my message. Before directing u to where the grace lies in this performance, I will direct u to how to use the reply button. Among the absurdities you've addressed in your last comment, "tapering off of phrases" is the most insulting one to any "musical intelligence". Gladly, a true artist like Brendel does not follow your "manual of good piano habits".

  • @otavioandradas a final word: My original comment, if you recall, was a lament at Brendels lack of grace in this movement - a limited point. In elaborating on the factors that impact on that grace (sonority, touch, etc...) I included "tapering off of phrases" as one of the elements I look at. I do not question WHETHER Brendel tapers off phrases, as your condescending comment perhaps accuses me of claiming. I merely think that the manner of his phrase-endings are poorly executed.

  • @lourak again, your manual of good piano habits does not accept anything that escapes the ordinary, the same of the same, the redundant, the romantic easy solutions of the average pianist.

The interesting thing about your sequence of nonsensical comments is that you've never pinpointed a specific phrase-ending, dynamics, etc, that is problematic. Please, let us know more about Brendel's weaknesses. Exactly where????

  • @otavioandradas You are hereby cited by the Youtube police for incivility, inconsistent with objective and scholarly discourse - hence - I cannot respond to your recent comment. Should you desire to improve your behavior, I will be glad to answer your last challenge! You, of course, can have the last word...
