  • Christianity is not a religion. Where did religion come from? Men. I don't follow men. I follow my Lord and Savior JESUS CHRIST!. Who's with me!? xD

  • @KKEJ24 Amen!

  • @KKEJ24 ^ Religion.

  • @KKEJ24

    Oxford Dictionary

    religion

    Pronunciation: /rɪˈlɪdʒ(ə)n/

    noun

[mass noun] the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods: ideas about the relationship between science and religion [count noun] a particular system of faith and worship: the world’s great religions [count noun] a pursuit or interest followed with great devotion: consumerism is the new religion

    Me:

    How is this not Christianity?

  • @greadion4

    Oxford Dictionary

    relationship

the way in which two or more people or things are connected, or the state of being connected: the state of being connected by blood or marriage: the way in which two or more people or groups regard and behave towards each other:

religion = act. relationship = connection. although the act of worship is a part of the Christianity, what we treasure most (and what Christianity is really about) is the deep down connection between us and the LIVING CHRIST.

  • But to be a Christian, you must live as a Christian. Be the same person outside those church walls as you are in them.

  • @xXsiblingsystemXx lol i saw this on a facebook like page.

"going to church doesnt make you a christian, anymore, than standing in a garage makes you a car."

i actually laughed cuz it was funny. and its also very true

  • Oh man , this is amazing...!!

  • my favorite song

  • Anybody want to try and convert me to Christianity?

  • @OnlyALetter Really? I would love to try. :] pm me whatever you want to know..

  • @OnlyALetter a couple of things about Christianity. or God. He will love you even though it might feel like no one likes or ur having a bad day. and you also have someone to talk to anytime, anywhere. if you are going through a hard time God is probably is testing your faith. without hardship, you wouldnt be able to maintain your faith in God. so don't worry if your going through a hard time. also, remember He (Jesus) DIED for YOU. i dont have enough room to type the rest so read the next paragh

  • @HSong4ever if you look at it, none of us are innocent. if you stole something once, doesnt matter how major or minor, that makes you a thief. even though u lied once and never again, that still makes you a liar. and Jesus took all of our consequences away (consequence = death). God is Love. i HOPE this helped.

  • @HSong4ever Everybody dies sometime.

  • @HSong4ever So God is just a shoulder to cry on? I'm not going through a hard time. It just seems illogical to rely on something through faith rather than evidence. I don't want to sound like an asshole. I think that religion is a very interesting subject. I just choose not to believe it.

  • @OnlyALetter God is like wind. although we cannot see it, we can experiance the chanegs and effects he makes in our lives. those who do not feel, CHOOSE not to feel for they are not standing in the pathway of the wind.

  • @HSong4ever Very good metaphor. However, wind is tangible. God is not.

  • @OnlyALetter Wind is tangible? not unless you borrow Odysseus' bag to keep Zephyr in.

  • @thescowlingschnauzer You can feel wind physically, asshole.

  • @OnlyALetter No, you feel the air. The movement of the air, the wind, is intangible.

You can't trap wind. You can't bottle it up. And if you try, you'll only have a bottle of air, not wind.

In the same way, the Romans tried to stop Christianity by locking up Christians. But they hadn't locked up God, only some people that God had moved to action.

God is like the wind. The people He moves are like the air. And the actions God moves them to take are like the effects of the wind.

  • @thescowlingschnauzer nice explination

  • @OnlyALetter sorry i dont know what tangible means. lol

  • @OnlyALetter god is tangible in a way - you can feel him not through the five main sences, but through the heart.

I understand that sounds cheesy, however it is very true. Many people's lives have been impacted because of a meet with god himself.

  • @OnlyALetter im afraid christianity is not a religion.

Actually, god is partly comforting - but just like a father he likes to teach us lessons. He gives our lives a story, and disciplines us, too.

    god bless you,

    -Passionofawriter

  • @Passionofawriter Christianity is very much a religion. Either way, a meet with God himself? I'll believe it when I see it. God doesn't give my life a story. My life is a story. I make decisions that change the outcome of that story. The Bible does teach very good life lessons, with a few exceptions, but a book is just a book. The whole point of Christianity is to destroy other cultures and come out on top. That sickens me.

  • @OnlyALetter I don't see Christianity as a religion. It's a relationship, bound with love. In the same way people obey/listen to/respect/trust/etc. their spouse, Christians follow God. Sure there's a book that (only partially) lays out commands and rules, and we can follow that those all we want, but the point is to love. "In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome." - 1 John 5:3.

  • @OnlyALetter What you see from some misled Christians might skew your view, but I hope you would be willing to dig deeper to understand the actual "whole point" of Christianity, which I believe is love. Love is the difference between Christianity and ALL other religions. Not the generic love that society has generated ("I love lamp" - Anchorman), but 100% unconditional love. From love, stems faith and hope, from those stem good deeds. Religion stems from man. But a relationship stems from love.

  • @wenbinbin2010 I understand that. I feel very ignorant after reading that comment that I posted. It is not the complete objective of Christianity to attack other religions. However, The Bible does say to spread the word. That is one thing, but missionaries forcing Christianity on other people. I can't support that. Also, the whole "God hates fags" thing. That's bad too.

  • @OnlyALetter The "God hates fags" idea is another failure by misled Christians. God loves all people, but hates the sin in them. Whether or not homosexuality is a sin is a whole different debate that involves scientific proof and interpretation of the Bible, neither of which I can say I have expertise in. And having been on missions myself, I hold steadfast to the idea that "spreading the Word" only means "planting seeds." Christians can't force people to convert, only God can "water" the seeds.

  • @OnlyALetter Perhaps you're wondering why there are so many misled people out there claiming to be devout Christians (I can't say I'm not misled either...). But it's interesting how Jesus says in the Bible, "For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." - Matthew 7:13. So again, it would be mistaken to define Christianity based on what only certain people do.

  • DIOS TE NECESITO, MI VIDA ERES TU, ABBA PADRE AYUDAME. AYUDAME A CONFIAR, AYUDAME A CREER, AYUDAME A VERTE, A SEGUIR TUS PRECEPTOS. AYUDAME NO PUEDO MAS MI JESUS TU QUE MORISTE EN LA CRUZ ERES EL UNICO QUE ME PUEDE AYUDAR

  • To all christians in this posting: we don't need to defend our God. He can do that by Himself, or else, what kind of God He'd be? Simply tell them the truth: Christ died for their sins, big, small, unknown, and with the best intentions. Why? To give them a chance to get back to the Father. May God bless everyone on this site.

  • I definitely agree, but Christ dying for us isn't the only truth. And I was just reaching out to someone who was lost and trying to figure out why he was lost. We are only the planters of the seeds; only God can water those seeds. Thanks for the comment!

  • Comment removed

  • @wenbinbin2010

    1 Corinthians 3:6-7

  • @wenbinbin2010 God can water those seeds but i feel like he also uses us to water those seeds. By simple things. Things we say, do. How we act. Our lifestyle can water a seed. God uses us to plant a seed and someone else to come by and water it. I believe its not ALWAYS someone else that gets to water the seed. But i think if we were to plant the seed and water it and that person comes to Christ then we get the glory, not God. And we can become prideful. God desirves the glory! God Bless!

  • @wenbinbin2010 im a christian and i love it how the bible is pree much based around metaphors lol

  • @mathieumaxwell85 but im confused are u saying we shouldent defend him

    ?

  • @mathieumaxwell85 you are so right may god bless you =)

  • @rock4611 hey me!!! lol

  • @ Famehater: have you ever seen a miracle?

  • i see miricles every single day my freind, theres so much beauty in the world i sometimes find it hard to take, i probobly see things unlike any other person in the world, but the thing here is your description of the word miricle, the bible would say cureing lepars or walking on water but to me just being alive is a miracle : ) what is your point?

  • I totally respect your opinion. Sorry that i was a little bit agressive... i dont agree with those bad things that christians have done and i want people respect my view too. so why should´nt i accept yours?

Anyway, god bless you and god luck for you

  • yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah =)

  • this is a great song and any1 who dissagrees needs to just not listen so ppl that dnt belive God Bless hope u find the truth

  • @Famehater We trust Jesus who was raised from the dead. Victory over death is no small thing. What have you done lately?? I'd dare say that Jesus is the most popular figure in all of history. Can't go wrong by following Jesus the Christ.

  • listen to yourself your a robot! "raised from the dead"? and i guess santa clause was sucked of by the easter bunny huh? a poll was conducted this year to find the most known person in the world and Simon Cowell came before god and fukin jesus lol does that mean we should listen to every word he says like its "gospel" thou shall wear very high trousers thou shall always have a fuked up hair doo lol the bible was wriiten by delirious people who lived in the fukin desert lol wise up man.

  • infact no im sorry forget what i said i didnt mean it, i think you should all believe what you feel in your soul that you should believe, its not up to me or you or anyone else to say whats right or wrong for someone else to believe in , eternal peace and love to you : )

  • Hey, I forgive you Jay, no problem. God Bless

  • coolz : ) but just so you know it can be quite insulting and patrionising to say "god bless" to someone who doesnt believe in god or religion. peace : )

  • @Famehater We do not think that here is no heaven. And i think that i might be right if i say that we can enjoy our life more than you do! Because we KNOW what we are doing counts - even after death. And i guess you never read the bible, never prayed, never tried to listen to god. So shut up and stop talking bout things you don´t know anythik about...

  • firstly its my opinion and you should respect that if you follow the word of Christ secondly i know alot about it actually my mum is a Catholic and my dad is a prodestant, thirdly what i am doing is living my life to do the best i can to make a positive diference to others without ever thinking of myself or caring if there is an afterlife fourthly yes i have prayed but i pray to the universe as its own entity as i belive that everything happens for a reason and were all part of one thing.

  • and lastly i would happily die on a cross for your right to believe im wrong. peace

  • Have the prayers of your father and mother for you ever done any good? Do you believe that your mother and father might know something about God that maybe you haven't realized yet? Remember, God is Love. I'm sure you appreciate your mother and father and they love you. The love that you experience from your parents is there because of God, since He is the one who gave you your parents. God is more involved in your life than you realize. In fact, you can't take your next breath without Him.

  • dont you repect anyone elses beliefs? dont you know when you state things as fact when they are your opinion it can be very disrespectful even hurtful to people and even to yourself? dont you know that just becos someone is christened as something it doesnt mean they have to believe it, neither my mum or dad believe in the religion they were given at birth, the way you say"god is this god does this ect." its a delusion given to you by other people and its the reason countless wars.

  • i agree with the statement "god is love" although the word god means nothing to me,as a symbol of what makes life then love would be god, what you have to ask yourself is this. should i trust the opinion of delusional desert rats 2000 years ago when they barley knew what shape the planet was never mind how to form society? or the views of a man who lives for others has 2000 years more world experience to draw from and lives in a place where religion is shown up to be the highest form of evil?

  • No offense to Lewittchen, but it is accusatory statements like that that push non-believers even further away from God. Famehater, I agree with you that there have been so many immoral acts done by Christians that it turns us away entirely from Christianity. But don't let a narrow and worldly view of Christianity become your own view. I want you to know that Christianity is a personal relationship with God and if other Christians are being hypocritical, don't let that affect your own faith/view.

  • i respect what your saying but the fact you or anyone from any religion try's to get others to believe what they belive is the reason for such atrocitys, no one should ever try to make someone believe what they do and for you to say christianity or any other religion is a "personal relationship with god" isnt really true as you are meant to believe in all the aspects of the religion and these were divised thousands of years ago before people really had choice.

  • i totally respect peoples choice to belive what they want and feel however i do have a problem with them beliveing what they think they have to because of parents or soroundings or being scared of going to hell, these things are barbaric to me and always will be,the acts of people in the past dont afect my opinions on god or faith as i belive the past is exactly that "past" and i personally cant see a future without the gradual disapearence of religion wich i think is a great thing,no offence : )

  • Going to hell would not be a desirable thing if it exists. No one in their right mind would want to go there. There is nothing wrong with people wanting to be sure that they are not heading into an eternal hell. Jesus said that there is such a thing as hell. You say there isn't. How is it that you know beyond a shadow of doubt that there is no such thing as hell? To be in heaven forever with Jesus is my preferred destiny. I hope you make the same choice. I hope to see you in heaven .

  • your doing it again stateing what you believe as a fact that others should follow thats not right my freind and im sure if Jesus was alive hed say the same i do belive in heaven and hell but i believe they exist here on earth and ive been to both, the only way to live in heaven is to be a good person so maybe jesus's teachings where metaphorical who knows? science says theres a high posibility that when we die ours sould tun into electro magnetic energy and transpose dimentions isnt that better?

  • I state what I believe as fact and to me it is fact. You state what you believe as fact also. You think I follow Jesus because I'm scared but you are wrong. Yet you believe it is fact. Yet you are wrong. I follow Jesus because his teachings work and are based on love. He taught to forgive (70x7) and I know this to be a teaching which brings peace in my life. Jesus teaches us to love one another. This is much preferred to hating one another imho and can bring happiness to u if it is applied.

  • @7oriole7 yes i agree but you say things like "i hope to see you in heaven" but that is like saying i should belive what you do,and i also practice forgiveness but not because of Jesus just because i feel you should treat people as you want to be treated yourself, and yes there are wise words in the bible just as there are wise words in most/all religions but with most of them they proclaim to be "gospel" but at the end of the day its just words written by men 2000 years ago, things change : )

  • To say that Christianity is like other religions is true to a point. But there is one difference in Christianity that it is unlike any other religion in the world, including atheism which is the 'religion' of those who don't believe in a deity. There is one difference in that Christianity is unique. Can you tell me what that is?

  • well firstly athieism isnt a religion its merely a word created not by "athiests" but by those who do believe in a deity, i myself dont believe in a deity but i dont respond to being called an athiest as the burdon of belief isnt on me, in a world of no deity there is nop word for those who dont believe in one, and secondly every religion has unique factors hence them being different religions but if you want to tell me what difference your refering to i would be happy to listen and respond.

  • A religion is simply a set of beliefs. Everyone believes in something. My faith is in Jesus Christ.

An atheist' has faith... in themselves. They are their ultimate source of strength. They needn't answer to anyone because they have the truth. They believe in nothing that they can't see. So the center of your 'religion' is you. This is what atheist's have told me they believe, ie religion.

As for the one difference between all religions is that Christianity has Grace.Undeserved, Unmerited favor.

  • there you go again "what athiests have told me" thats the thing there not a sect so when "they" tell you something it only stands for them as individuals, i believe in the universe and i have faith in that,i think evrything thats gonna happen will happen and theres nothing we can really do about it, so i just live to do the best i can and try to be a good person in the hope that everything will work out positively: ) so my faith isnt in myself its in the power and awsumness of the universe.

  • When you say that you "do the best i can and try to be a good person", you are professing faith in yourself. It is a commendable goal....to be good....however, I have found that on my own I tend to fail at being good all the time.I may want to be good, but wanting to be good and actually being good are not the same. Humanity has proven that no one is perfect. A farmer must be deliberate in his planting techniques or he will not harvest a crop. Throwing seed and hoping it 'works out' isn't wise.

  • but belive that whatever i do was always going to happen so my faith isnt really in me its more in the inevitability of the universe,it makes sense what you say but i believe that if you take every word in the bible as truth it can become hazey to what is and isnt good, for instance it says you can sell your daughter into slavery but you cant have sex with someone you love before you marry them under the eyes of "god" these rules were made at the begining of society and have no place today.

  • A mistake that many make about the Bible is that they will take things from it that they don't agree with and or don't understand and throw away the whole book because of it. As a Christian, I don't claim to understand everything about the Bible, but because the Bible promotes Love as its main theme, I trust that it is given for my good. A child doesn't know everything its parent does, but they trust their parent because they know one thing....their parent loves them and want the best for them.

  • yes but you are what you love not what loves you.

  • and just because someone wants the best for you doesnt mean they KNOW whats best for you, if your father is a serial killer who believes hes doing gods work does this mean you should automatically trust love and believe in them?

  • The key to understanding Jesus is what John the Baptist said about him,"Behold the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world." God's biggest problem with sin is that is comes in between us and Him. Its about broken relationship. If the sin problem is taken away, relationship is restored. God sends the Lamb to take away the sin and fellowship with God is restored. To me it shows the Fathers heart and His longing for restored relationship. He cares for us.

  • again your making statements as if they are true when they are true to YOU,i have many problems with what you say the main one being the word "him" if there was a god theres no doubt in my mind it would be "she"and also the word "sin" a sin is diferent with whatever religion you believe, to me there is no such thing as sin theres only what you as a person feel is wrong and these morals should be created by yourself through what you see not through what your told.

  • I wouldn't call you an atheist either. Your philosophies sound more like pantheism, belief in the universe...but that is still a belief. The burden of belief in the Christian God is not on you, but the burden of belief in your own philosophies is. As for the comment about the serial killer father, Phillipians 1:9-10 reads "And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best..."

  • Our view of love is not supposed to blind love. The Bible says to love your enemy, but it also says "Do not be yoked together with unbelievers" - 2 Corinthians 6:14. Some might see this as contradictory and then disregard Christianity, but they can be reconciled if you attempt to. Christianity is not simple and so many people disregard it when they have barely "tasted" it. As a Christian, I have plenty of doubts about my religion, but I see them as questions, whose answers I actively seek.

  • afterall the bible as you know is full of contradictions just as most religious docturan.

  • also with the Uripudes quote to me when it says "learn something answear nothing" it means that everyone should find there own truth and never try to feed it to someone else, wich is what every single religion ever created does and like it or not just by being a part of that religion and living by its rules and codes means conciously or unconciously your selling your beliefs to others wich is the thing i disagree with most.

  • thats only to you tho, i dont believe in any other mans belief, my views on the universe are formed by me and me alone, the one philosophy i agree with 100% is Uripudes who said "question everything learn something answear nothing" to me that means that no one really knows or will ever know whats truly right but the joy is in the quest for gold not the gold itself lol just made up one of my own there! as for your passage thats really only your interpretation just like mine of Uripudes.

  • The Bible and Christianity is "full of contradictions" for those who look only for those contradictions. I'm not saying look past them, but they can all be reconciled, and that to me proves perfection. I am not selling my religion to you or anyone else; I am simply telling you about it and defending it from any unwarranted attacks. Are you not also trying to tell me about your own beliefs? And, Euripides is older than the New Testament, yet you receive his philosophies completely.

  • Lastly you said "no one really knows or will ever know whats truly right but the joy is in the quest for gold not the gold". Is the quest always joyful? It's most definitely not. But since I've truly been transformed by Christianity, every day has been joyful. In the hardships, I rejoice because I don't need to seek for gold, I already have it. Again, I'm not selling or forcing you anything, just explaining my own views. However, what I am doing is challenging your beliefs as you challenge mine.

  • im merely using the gold s an analergy its not literal the gold is the truth and the reason for existance, im happy that your beliefs make you happy and i am not challenging your beliefs im only saying my opinions.

  • thats not true, you dont have to look for contradictions to see them unless you are quite simple minded of course wich seems to be a trait of the uber religious tbh,and its not about how old something is, i trust the universe and thats the oldest thing there is, i just either see something i believe in or i dont, theres many things in all religions i agree with but the religions themselves i dont , this is because i believe if there was a god he/she/it wouldnt want religion.

  • i dont understand how anyone can say "thisd is my religion" when they pick and chose wich parts to believe in and if you believe in the part you mentioned "do not be yoked together with unbelievers" does this mean mine and anyone else who doesnt believe's existance is bassically pointless to you? if so why even talk to me, i believe that all you trust in is wrong therefore to you i am evil even though i live my life for the good of others and would rather go to hell than live by anyones rules.

  • As things in this world get more and more difficult, you will see Christianity growing more and more. People can see that they need something more, something supernatural to get us through tough times. And Jesus Christ offers hope to the hopeless. China is persecuting Christians and murdering them, yet they have the fastest growing churches in the world. The persecution from governments and atheists will push people to find hope in Christ. Jesus Christ is the answer for a lost and dying world.

  • "you will see" "will PUSH people" "Christ IS the answear" not one mention of i believe or i think or it is my opinion, that is the problem i have with people like you, your dissilution is so high that you cant speak to another person without coming across like you think you know everything,to me you sound like an absulute nutcase and if Jesus was around im pretty sure hed agree. how can one religion be the answear im sorry to say thats the most ridiculous thing ive ever heard.

  • Jesus offers you relationship, not just another religion. It is totally your choice whether to accept him or reject him. There have been millions upon millions that have accepted the forgiveness offered by God through Jesus and this message has always been the same. The beauty of this message is that God offers this gracious gift even to those who hate Him or deny that He exists. When Jesus was dying on the cross and said 'Father forgive them', he was praying for you. His love does not change.

  • @7oriole7 yes but its not rejecting him if you dont believe in him is it,and i think youll find he also said on the cross "father why wont you save me"in my opinion Jesus was just as crazy as the people you see on the streets claiming to be the son of god, what about people such as myself whos never actually done anything bad to anyone in my life what need do i have for forgiveness?i live my life to do good if there was a heaven or hell it would make no difference to me.

  • @7oriole7 let me ask you this, if you had the chance to ease omeones pain who was suffering or save someones life and you had a biblical moment and heard the voice of god say to you "you mustn't save this person for his/her fate is sealed and it is meant to be and saving there life would mean you are comiting a grave sin and shall spend eternity in hell" what would you do?

  • A few days ago you claimed "i like Jesus he was a cool guy". Why the sudden change in opinion? As for your claim that you've never done anything bad to anyone, it is impossible. You might think you haven't done any "major" bad things like murder or adultery or stealing, but you overlook the "smaller" (from a worldly perspective) sins that build up. Lusting, cheating, lying, slandering, etc.

  • Jesus was 100% human and 100% holy. His cry to God on the cross can be seen as his human side and/or a fulfillment of prophecy from Pslam 22. Pertaining to your question about fate...first, we as Christians don't save anyone, only God does. Second, fate vs. free will has been debated for centuries, and the BIble supports both positions. You might think that this debate shows the futility of Christianity, but it really shows how much human nature tries to oppose faith.

  • dont you think theres a reason human nature oposes faith? to me its because its not human to give yourself to a deity or the words of someone else, again your telling me what the bible "suports"but what you fail to realise is that it was written in order to get your backing contridictions and all, i wasnt asking what the bible says anyway i was asking what you would do in that situation its a simple question man.

  • @Famehater naah again, it wasnt my nature to oppose faith!!, it depends on everyone!!, i mean it depends on ur ego and all that, it didnt took me much to give my self to God, cus when u really expirience something imposible!! all u can do is say "this is God´s work no doubdt" u might havent seen it cus u are all like "i watch the sky and i dont see no God"(like in a self centered way) i hope i made my point, i think i didnt lol
