  • Haha where's Linda? Too subtle that one!

  • I met John Lennon that day at the preawards dinner, he autographed A Spaniard in the works for me,I took a picture of him and shook his hand and thanked him for the music and great times.

  • okay...with the exception of the novelty tune: Midnight at the Oasis...which should not even have been nominated...the worst remaining song won. The Grammy's are too political.

You have Joni Mitchell, Elton John, Roberta Flack....and the winner is...Olivia Newton John?

    come on.

  • Happy to "see" Joni in this clip... one of the very few songwriters in the same class as Paul Simon and John Lennon at that time

  • This was hilarious!! Tons of talent on that stage!!

  • So why was Art accepting the video for Olivia? I mean, was Art going to go up there no matter who won, as part of the bit?

  • Surprise to see how bitchy Mr Lennon & Mr Simon could be with Art Garfunkel!

Art managed to put in a little dagger with his question to Paul Simon, though....

Being a STAR means learning to BITCH?

  • There's some pretty heavy talent in this video.

  • I actually laughed out loud... "Still writing Paul?"

  • Very cool!

  • Too much ego on board but they were/are awesome talented and gifted

  • haha "where's Linda?" I get it!

  • OMG! Elton John, Joni Mitchell, Roberta Flack all snubbed. Those judges were bought.

  • The day after Lennon was shot, I was standing on the street outside the Dakota, along with hundreds of others, and Paul Simon walked right past me to get into the Dakota, where he lived. He looked just as devastated as everyone else, I can't imagine what he was thinking since he was a personal friend and neighbor to John and Yoko.

  • john lesson did have a great sense of humor

  • John Lennon! Paul Simon! Art Garfunkel! I'm so happy! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

  • What year did Paul get the Implants?

  • was this scripted?

  • Hes a hell of a songwriter but Paul looks ridiculous with that haircut and that mostauche.

  • @bushbasher85 what a great way to spell mostauche. that is what i am going to use from now on :)

  • @phlarrdboi Fair enough. Too bad theres no spellcheck on Youtube, it would stop a lot argyoumints. :)

  • John Lennon, and the Beatles, all had a great sense of humor, one of the things that added to there greatness

  • They were standing up for Lennon. Much missed.

  • Those were the days when artists still did stunts and not just cared about what was good for their career. Jolly good times! John was witty and brilliant as always. §: )~

  • man except for the witty commentary grammys were considered shit..like right behind john and simon,,i can see some people sitting around a table doing paper work...

  • Olivia Newton-John over Joni Mitchell???? People who revere the '70's need to watch this once a week...next year's winner was Starland Vocal Band...

  • Legends introducing legends presenting awards for legendary music. Just like today's music.

  • Hillarious! Miss John so much!

  • how come john acted like that was ringo and pual jokingly?

  • when John was killed that was really the"day the music died".

  • that just cracked me up..!! a Genius moment in Human Civilisation....

  • Thanks to who ever recorded this for generations to watch and hear again.

  • just luv it,L seemed a bit upstaged,2 me anyway.

  • I never would have imagined seeing John Lennon and Paul Simon together, I thought it was fake for a second O.o. Then Art came out and I just came :D

  • nice little moment there! thanks!

  • Would of loved to see John Lennon and Paul Simon preform together.

  • I'm glad art and paul get along again...

  • well that seemed awkward when art walked up on stage

  • i can't believe olivia won and not elton or joni mitchel

  • wow, my two favorit musicians togenther :)

  • besides some of the shit John made in his solo career, he really was a genius.

  • WONDERFUL video. WONDERFUL.

  • R.I.P John!

  • Two funny people meet two million people laugh

  • Awkward moment is awkward.

  • love it. an all lady line up in '75

the grammy protest of the day.

thx olivia for asking art and paul and john to deliver the message.

  • Brilliant moments of a time when ONLY the TALENTED ruled the world of music...

And nowadays?? Oh, yeah, yeah... Ladies and Gentlemen... Bieber and Iglesias...!!

  • @gdhgeorge I wouldn't say only the talented ruled. There was still the Bee Gees.

  • Wow. That was...interesting. I guess that was a period of time when Paul and Art just hated each other.

  • ... aWONKA, WONKA, WONKA! Boy the seventies was corny.

  • they have so much talent I was waiting for them to explode from the dense collection of awesome

  • What was the connection between Art Garfunkel and Olivia Newton John?

  • paul simon, art garfunkel and john lennon

    so what?

    big deal...

    oh, sarcasm mode on! :P

  • a couple of music legends there all right!! ..also art garfunkel..

  • This cracks me up! The subtle and not-so subtle wisecracks. Quick wit, all three of them. It does not seem at all scripted to me. I remember seeing this on tv back then. It was the only truly cool thing that happened that night. The Grammies were so hokey in those days. Totally cornball. I still like to come back and watch this gem now and then for laughs.

  • Haha oh so very wonderfull

  • my god, what a great year for music nominees!!!!!

  • Of course, the worst song won.

  • @fishhead06 I know that was ridiculous!!!

  • here he is the wimp househusband

  • @flakbac - Good morning. I fully respect your right to your opinion, however, I would like to, gently, ask what's wrong with John L. deciding to stay home with his son? John was an absentee & negligent father to his first child, Julian, who was born just as Beatlemania hit. Having been abandoned by both parents at age 5, John decided to get fatherly responsibilities right the second time around. Softly, I'll ask what's wrong with that? Peace.

  • John looks very masculine. Yoko probably chose the outfit.

  • John Lennon to Art Garfunkel:" He's so serious"!

  • Someone was downing Art on here a while back, saying they didn't know why he was famous because he was only a back- up singer to Paul Simon. A lot he knew. Obviously he never really listened to S&G before he made that comment. Just for starters., Art was the lead singer for the entire Graduate soundtrack. Yes, Paul Simon is a genius, but Art has a voice Paul only wishes he had. Why do you think he had Art do all the hard stuff.

  • @jules608123 - Hello. Yes, I also dislike hearing people minimize Art G.'s contribution. In addition to his golden tenor vocals, Art G. played the piano & the guitar; often assisting Paul S. w/ the writing, ART GARFUNKEL also PRODUCED many of the tracks, laboriously working through all the possible technical & instrumentation combinations. BOTH HAD EXTRAORDINARY ABILITIES which, when combined, produced a sound which will be heard for centuries. SIMON & GARFUNKEL = LEGENDS. Peace, All.

  • @mjcamck71 Yes, I believe that S&G's music will go on into eternity as classics along with the likes of Bach, Beethoven, etc. Great talent and great music are timeless. Art Garfunkel's voice....there has never been one like it, nor will there be. It is a gift from heaven and one day, hopefully not for a long, long time; Artie will sing for God Himself.

  • @jules608123 - Right you are! Best Wishes & Peace to you and ALL.

  • @jules608123 Oh man, listen to this guy. Sucking on Art Garfunkel's dick like a second and third job. Dude... I like Art as well. But holy smokes. You need a racist hug.

  • @mjcamck71 Very well-said, i am a fan of S&G and feel really annoyed with the people underrating Art's talent. His voice is the perfect addition to Paul Simon's music.

  • Man, John was such a cool human being.

  • "i thought i told you to wait in the car", brilliant

  • pual <3 queens accent

  • dreadful year for music

  • for the ehm... honor....!

  • johns received more grammies than a retirement home, "He's soo serious" "It IS serious john" "IM MUTHAFUCKIN JOHN LENNON I DONT GIVE A FUCK"

  • @TenStoryLoveSong You would drown in Paul's nuggets especially since tards cant swim. Or at least I dont think they can. Can you swim?

  • I see lots of comments saying, "He's high!"

It was 1975. *Everybody* was high.

  • I feel sorry for Paul Simon. He might as well be a man off the street compared to Lennon!

  • @TenStoryLoveSong I don't know about that, he did kinda write Bridge Over Troubled Water

  • @VoodooChileJ11 Well if you keep trying to strike gold for decades you're bound to find a few nuggets from time to time! lol

  • @TenStoryLoveSong Surely that's worth something! Also Homeward Bound, For Emily, Whenever I May Find Her, April Come She Will, America - those are definitely awesome tracks

  • @VoodooChileJ11 A handful of nuggets from an annoying, short-arsed religious freak. I'd still rather sacrifice the songs not to have him on the face of the planet. Grotty little man.

  • Bah. You read all the things he said after the split (I wanted be myself again, not be a beatle anymore, that was cramping my creativity, and so on. I won't mention the revolution phase of the earlist period in NYC) and then he takes part (and apparently delighted too) to this apotheosis of stars and stripes corniness.

  • They had crazy make-up sex later that day.

  • That had to be staged. Now way did that just happen...

  • "I thought I told you to wait in the car!" HAHAHAHAHA

  • "So, where's Linda?" xD

  • Does that mean that Paul Simon was giving blowies to cops in washrooms?

  • I have read that Lennon had some sort of high heels in male version on here. Really don't know if it's true or not - but it would fit well since I have seen before that John is slightly higher than Paul Simon and usually much lower than Art Garfunkel.

This is great! But argh, really awkward and tense between Paul and Artie..

  • Just awesome :)

  • lol at everything that came out of john's mouth

...and at the giant cutouts XD

  • Wasn't McCartney at that show?

he won a Grammy at that night!

  • Out of that bunch, I would've picked Maria Muldaur to win.

She's been forgotten since then, unfortunately.

  • why would arty pick up sandys award did i miss some jewish joke??

  • Nobody got the Ringo joke xD

  • @TheJohnnyisawesome what is it?

  • elton john was the only person that deserved to win

  • Wow! Did they have a giant cutout for each nominee?

  • That meeting of Paul Simon with Art was really awkward. They actually never got along that well from what I've heard. But they knew how to make great music together that's for sure.

  • Is John really tall or is Paul really small?! :L

  • @EstleaMusic paul is really short. you should see him next to art garfunkel!

  • hello im john .....kkkkkkk rsrsrs well i just had to laugh ,i saw the you tubaph

  • Oh my gosh, TWO OF FAVORITE SINGERS ON STAGE TOGETHER!

  • My goodness, what fabulous times!...

  • And the winner is . . . CRAP!!!

  • so... many... hysterical... jokes1!!

  • Hey Blueheeler where's your sense of humour, you need to go find one if John bothers you in that, and don't ever go to see any Will Ferrell films either, John was way ahead of his day, Rock on John !!!

  • The quality of award shows have drastically decreased during the last 30 years.

  • good to see those faces together

  • @BlueHeeler1952

    Go to he..

  • @BlueHeeler1952 Well, if you do 69 you can see your partner's arsehole quite well =)

  • i told you to wait in the car at art lol

  • that was freakin AMAZING!!!

  • I ge the feeling lennon was as high as a kite in this

  • wait, are they the real ones? =D

  • hahaha, they are all so out of place in that. you can tell none of them are sure of how to act, especially paul.

  • Ah Big John- how we miss him. Rock and Roll lost it's conscience when he was taken from us. What would he say about the music today?

  • How Elton John sneak in there, amongst all those ladies? Oh, wait . . . nevermind.

  • @jimithingjames HAHAHAHAHA

  • Crazy to see John on stage, so alive.

  • "Thank you mother" JL "I thought I told you to wait in the car" - PS "Where's Linda?" "Which one of you's Ringo?" JL -- Really quick and funny stuff

  • @bailinnumberguy Quick and funny stuff at theGrammys... probably scripted in advance. Maybe they were reading cue cards.

  • "Where's Linda?" lmao

  • "i thought i told you to wait in the car" Bitch <3

  • lol how art taunts paul simon. you writing? yea just you wait for graceland to come out, that shit will blow you away.

  • @Pimpmastahanhduece It WAS a few years to come though wasn't it? They did the reunion in Central Park well before that. Art's voice was the perfect vehicle for what Paul was creating.

  • you wont have that these days where each of the actual nominees actually wrote great music to be nominated. now its whatever garbage gets pushed to the top by tone deaf listeners. but i cant blame this new generation, with no gr8 musician to lead them and show them what actual gr8 music is. now its no story repititous shit. god i dont even know what the fuk som of these rappers are saying. atleast be more more like slick rick or ice cube and have some talent. they sound so whiny now.

  • i concurr, its not like there cant be good artists today, but we shape pop culture in a shit storm today. there used to be bad artists then too, you just obviously hear the bad artists of the day on tv or the radio. there are some great rappers, but while some are clearly talented, only a few are actually making concerted efforts to compose classics that will stay with us.

  • @GoldenShaolinNutz I wouldn't stake the integrity of '70s pop music on a video where Olivia Newton-John wins a Grammy.

  • Didn't know that John Lennon was on a Emmy Show. So cool :)) RIP

  • it would have been cool if lennon and paul simon could have gotten together on an album.

  • Two of the best musicans ever!

Though John forgot two of his "partners"...

  • Sorry just one question, what year was that?

  • @fantorjhs This was the Grammy award show telecast in early 1975, honoring the best performances of 1974.

  • @torchkit Thanks, I thought it was closer to 1980.

  • Beautifull to see John acting that way. Pity Olivia was not there, I would loved to see her with John (not Travolta but LENNON). Nice to see Paul Simon too. And yes, I like Travolta. FOREVER JOHN LENNON.

  • Paul Simom looks like Mario

  • High as a fucking kite, John

  • too bad its so dark. :*(((

  • @hofnerman1 True, but the same video is here in youtube with better definition, I just found out!

  • @llamawalrus Thanks :*))))

  • I wonder if Art knew that if he went to recieve the award it would be Paul giving it to him.

I just love all the conversation!

  • fuckin love lennon, the only person dead or alive i'd be star struck over. but john would tell you hes just an ordinary man. an ordinary man that had an ordinary plan.

  • John Lennon in his lesbian phase.

  • this is one of the best things I've ever seen :D

  • @hollowaymccartney absolutely true!!!!

  • Wow, I'm glad to see that Paul and Art have gotten past this stage and are friends again. That was painful to watch them jabbing each other, regardless of if it was in the name of comedy.

  • one big difference is the quality of the songs and the artists. i am surprised that john did this, but it was great.

  • Legends. I think Art was a little ticked off when Paul said "I thought I told you to wait in the car".

  • @HonkyCat90 Yeah I know, but he totally got him back though xD I'm glad they are friends again now

  • Damn! John is TALL!

  • @jerryjman It's just Paul who's short

  • I love the big heads that just fly out of nowhere onto stage!

  • It's soooo weird seeing John Lennon at the Grammys lol

  • Wow, this is truly the most bizarre performance I've ever seen on TV! John Lennon and Paul and Simon announcing best song of the year on the Grammy's?!? And those giant heads flying onto the stage!! What a riot, they obviously were enjoying themselves through the bizarrety of the event!

  • Haha I laugh my ass of!! I love them :D

  • Sorry to sound like an old fogie yearnin' for the past but really, these guys were GIANTS. What do you kids today have that compares to this? Adam Sandler? Rap artists that disdain their audiences? Lennon was very comfortable and funny up there. Had he lived he might have had some opportunities as a host of the Oscars or something. Terrific.

  • @rivalyeah Dude, don't blame us "kids" for the music a generation slightly above us has to offer. We didn't create the rap artists any more than these people created Nixon. We're just products of our parents, trying to find our own way in the world with our own culture and music. Just because some people have decided to label rap as popular and give it radio playtime doesn't mean it's all we like or even what most of us like

  • looks like there was alcohol backstage.

  • great clip

  • John is so funny, you can take the boy out of Liverpool, but you cannot take that sarcastic wit Liverpudlian out of the boy... :)

  • Oh God look it's my childhood . Please take me back home again lol

  • does john remind anyone else of john cleese here?

  • "Where is Linda?"

    lol

  • @stefaum2 lmao

  • Elton John deserved that Grammy. These types of awards shows in the 70s did not feature the best artists at all. How many Grammys did Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and the numerous other artists with much more talent than these fools win? Olivia Newton-John, really? haha

  • Honestly what the hell are the odds that Art Garfunkel would end up on stage with Paul Simon, with John Lennon!

When it was announced that Art would accept the award, I actually thought it was planned like that for comedic purposes. Ha ha this is awesome

  • what's happened to music? Is it that hard to write a decent song anymore? Come on somebody! There's no competition, we need a hero!

  • I thought I told you to wait in the car

  • When Art (I believe) said where's Linda, John wasn't very happy I think, at least it looked like that.

  • @TheWorldinProgress

MCCARTNEY GAVE HER CANCER , HE WAS A WANKER.

  • omg what is up with lennon's wardrobe, heehee :)

    for what it's worth...ELTON JOHN should've won !!

  • "Where's Yoko?"

  • This encapsulates everything I HATED about the 70's

  • It was like watching a wwf match
