Too bad they are getting rid of the f-15s as well as the 95th only if they knew how important the 95th and the f-15s are mayby they would keep them here:(
@TheNextPowerRanger16 F-15s aren't going away anytime soon. Some of them are being replaced by F-22s, but there won't be enough Raptors to replace all of them.
Not Panama City by any chance? I was stationed at Hurlburt Field when I was a TACP and then when I cross trained to be a crew chief I was stationed at Tyndall. I still live in Panama City (down Hwy 22) but I'm in the Army now. The Air Force cut about thirteen thousand people a couple of years ago so I took the opportunity and crossed over to the Army. Best decision of my life.
The "scramble" footage is from the 318th FIS at Mc Chord AFB - Tacoma, WA. When they disbanded by the end of the 1980's, most of the jets went down to the 123rd FS at Portland Int Airport, Oregon where they still stand on a Quick Response Alert 24/7. But gone are the day's going out to meet a Tu-95 Bear off the coast. It still seems to happen once or twice a year in Alaska.
I saw a painting of that same scene one time that said they were up there during the cold war as escorts but I think it was just a joint operation thing in the video.
Thanks for posting this ... been looking for it since I first saw it in the late 90s (I think).

Thanks for the history! Is the 123rd a guard unit?

It's happening a lot in Europe. Doesn't mean much anymore though.

The ruskies fuck with the ADIZ all the time over Alaska. Intercepting them is pretty common.

Not all of it is. There are jets from alaska, isleson (when there was a base there), tyndall, and eglin. Quite a few different areas.
