I have the iMac G3, had it for ten years. It still works like a charm. I also have the newest 21.5 iMac, and it's wonderful. You should definitely try one

To recuperate the work of a month I had to stop sleeping for a week. That was 3 years ago that I chance to OSX. I have never had a problem ever no hardware problems, no viruses, no blue screen no nothing. Plus the office looks great with all our IMACs LOL I LOVE IT.
I couldn't agree more. iMacs are beautiful machines, there isn't a better all-in-one on the market... unfortunately I don't like all-in-ones. I own an iMac for FCP but hand me a PC laptop or desktop over a Mac (book/town) Pro any day. HP is also one of the worst computer manufactures :P FUGLY computers. Alienware and Asus FTW!

Macs can right click, they run everything you want (you can execute protable executables too but you'll need something like wine, but who needs wine when you have all the things you want as native and steam is coming to mac really soon too). They do have startup apps, I run my mysql server at startup and it still boots up in less than 14 seconds. Look inside of any big name recording studio and you will see a mac somewhere. Why would you pay $500 for a bad pc? You can get a great mac for 1,000 dollars. Just because it doesn't have more ram than a pc doesnt mean anything. Max os x doesnt need as much ram to work better than a pc. And if a person needs more ram in their mac it's because they have to do heavy work on it like music and movies. so the whole it costs too much thing is out the window.

Your calling me a pc fan only because I'm saying whats the truth, it's limited in compatibillity, sure you can fix some of that, but it requires motivation and money to do it, which I'd rather have something upfront now, with less money spent. but the mac isn't limited. the hardware allows you to run any piece of software. now the option of you doing it is question. theres always the question of long term costs as well. if you own a pc, your gonna eventually upgrade it or chuck it out, pay for software upgrades, data loss, etc. but a mac has a longer lifespan than most regular pc's and less costly to maintain.
and no, theres many people out there who don't even run an antivirus software, or system optimizer on their pc, and their doing fine.
macs overall do not have a longer lifespan than pc's, it depends solely on the computer, macs are pc's, their just a dfferent brand, you have to compare a brand or even a model to another to figure out which one lasts longer, saying macs solely against other platforms last longer is totally incorrect.

i have a cheap, custom built tower pc that i use for back up machine. i occasionally run a light game or 2 and runs fine. but in fact the mac im using has more utility for me rather than the pc because its more reliable. i have all the apps i need and better stability running them compared to the pc. if i want i can run the windows app with no hassle.
mac is a pc and a brand name. you are correct but the OEM controls both hardware and software guaranteeing a longer lifespan.

Unless you used bootcamp, now the question is, do you really want to pay extra when you just spent so much on the mac you bought?
Plus, running 2 os at the same time is not neccesary on a pc, but it can do it, if theres a pc version of bootcamp. It's not beyond pc capabillity, pc can do it too, but it's highly unneccesary and a waste of money.
in fact you are right up to some point. you can run 2 os on any computer hardware. the point i disagree is to call it a waste of money. for instance you can pirate the os if you want, or go legit and max out its utility. it might sound arrogant but you get what you paid for. im sorry but its true. i already had the legit os for my tower pc and used it on bootcamp. so i didn't spend a extra penny when i purchased my mac.
basically, the first you will see is exe incompatibillity, now there can be mac versions of downloads, but for the ones that don't, your going to have a pretty big inconvenience going around that, and even then, other software versions for macs will lack some features until they get through an update, which can take a long time, as seen with google's chrome beta taking a few months, I think 15, to finally make an open beta...
i also misinterpreted "alot" with actually meaning "some", i tend to do that sometimes because alot and some are words I pass by quickly, my mistake :P either way, games are the number 1 type of software thats going to be a hassle, like I said before, your hardware could be good, but you will still need to spend more to get access to gaming.
Either way, converting or using tools to get access on what is already easily done or adaptable on pc on mac is not in everyone's skill, point being it's less hassle than just getting a good pc even under a grand, also, i'd like to disagree with the "mac is more protected" statement if thats what you meant in longer life, theres an article where the osx was hacked in 30 minutes, then following windows 7, then goes linux, no os is safe, and it's kind of arrogant to think as such
my entire 160 is packed full with 2 os leaving a pathetic 2GB of space. but im still cruising. and thats on a factory default 2008 macbook. im running image editing software, internet brower's, music software, instant messaging, mail client software, word processors, presentation software, p2p downloading software and a simultaneous os with no issues.
and no, sometimes, not the average joe can even afford an expensive mac, and even let alone buy another os to run it on bootcamp just to do something you can do if you were on the other side of the fence.
the reason why a pc won't run 2 simultaneous os is because it doesn't need to, why would I want to do that if i were in the pc platform anyways? And it's costly.

Just because it doesn't have more ram than a pc doesnt mean anything. Max os x doesnt need as much ram to work better than a pc. And if a person needs more ram in their mac it's because they have to do heavy work on it like music and movies. so the whole it costs too much thing is out the window.

Did I ever say the main flaw was the ram? No, did I say my budget is 500 dollars? No, if I were to get a 1000 dollar mac, thats just going to be personal use in the long run so if I were to be mainly personal use you would want to go lower, you can get a good pc for 700, or even custom build a gaming rig near 1000$ Why does it need to be 1000$ if all your ever going to do is surf the internet or use some media??

You can even get a clearancing alienware near 1000 dollars and it's hardware really subsides that of a macbook going 1000$, and does it matter if any big name recording studio owns a mac? No I really don't care if they can afford them, when they use them, they use them as tools, when your in your house your not recording or 3d modeling much(unless you were modding a game, which really doesn't help for macs)even ipods that I have liked a lot have been going overpriced lately, what the hell?

Your calling me a pc fan only because I'm saying whats the truth, it's limited in compatibillity, sure you can fix some of that, but it requires motivation and money to do it, which I'd rather have something upfront now, with less money spent. I never said mac lacked in anything else, it's a great os, except it doesn't have what others have and most macs are very expensive, as in, not in my budget.
And really, every os lags, you can't say one can't over the other...

but the mac isn't limited. the hardware allows you to run any piece of software. now the option of you doing it is question. theres always the question of long term costs as well. if you own a pc, your gonna eventually upgrade it or chuck it out, pay for software upgrades, data loss, etc. but a mac has a longer lifespan than most regular pc's and less costly to maintain.

macs overall do not have a longer lifespan than pc's, it depends solely on the computer, macs are pc's, their just a dfferent brand, you have to compare a brand or even a model to another to figure out which one lasts longer, saying macs solely against other platforms last longer is totally incorrect.
And no, macs cannot run just ANY software, let alone games

i have a cheap, custom built tower pc that i use for back up machine. i occasionally run a light game or 2 and runs fine. but in fact the mac im using has more utility for me rather than the pc because its more reliable. i have all the apps i need and better stability running them compared to the pc. if i want i can run the windows app with no hassle.
mac is a pc and a brand name. you are correct but the OEM controls both hardware and software guaranteeing a longer lifespan.

Unless you used bootcamp, now the question is, do you really want to pay extra when you just spent so much on the mac you bought?
Plus, running 2 os at the same time is not neccesary on a pc, but it can do it, if theres a pc version of bootcamp. It's not beyond pc capabillity, pc can do it too, but it's highly unneccesary and a waste of money.

in fact you are right up to some point. you can run 2 os on any computer hardware. the point i disagree is to call it a waste of money. for instance you can pirate the os if you want, or go legit and max out its utility. it might sound arrogant but you get what you paid for. im sorry but its true. i already had the legit os for my tower pc and used it on bootcamp. so i didn't spend a extra penny when i purchased my mac.

basically, the first you will see is exe incompatibillity, now there can be mac versions of downloads, but for the ones that don't, your going to have a pretty big inconvenience going around that, and even then, other software versions for macs will lack some features until they get through an update, which can take a long time, as seen with google's chrome beta taking a few months, I think 15, to finally make an open beta...

i also misinterpreted "alot" with actually meaning "some", i tend to do that sometimes because alot and some are words I pass by quickly, my mistake :P either way, games are the number 1 type of software thats going to be a hassle, like I said before, your hardware could be good, but you will still need to spend more to get access to gaming.

Either way, converting or using tools to get access on what is already easily done or adaptable on pc on mac is not in everyone's skill, point being it's less hassle than just getting a good pc even under a grand, also, i'd like to disagree with the "mac is more protected" statement if thats what you meant in longer life, theres an article where the osx was hacked in 30 minutes, then following windows 7, then goes linux, no os is safe, and it's kind of arrogant to think as such

my entire 160 is packed full with 2 os leaving a pathetic 2GB of space. but im still cruising. and thats on a factory default 2008 macbook. im running image editing software, internet brower's, music software, instant messaging, mail client software, word processors, presentation software, p2p downloading software and a simultaneous os with no issues.
