And, then there's the originality of this song. This IS quite the story, whether real or not. Now, I like me some Christina Aguilera. I respect her (and K.I.M.) more then I do most artists. But, for my money, this is THE version.
@richardmbowman I agree, everyone has a right to their own taste, let's not forget one of the most famous songs in the world, Aretha Franklin's "Respect" was a remake. And legendary artists like Luther Vandross built his career off of remaking classics and some would argue that his versions were better than the originals. I like both versions, although I really didn't think K.I.M was neccessary. In my opinion all she did was cheapen an otherwise great cover of a classic song.

I wouldn't give blanket approval to anything from 1975: I was around then, and there was a lot crap as well. Not this tune, obviously.
These are Strong Sassy women. Not sure about the remake with its in -your -face sexuality. They do it rather well, but think original clip leaves a bit of mystique to the singers.

Concerts in the 70's were the bomb! I saw the Jackson 5 in the late 70's and was literally face to face with Michael Jackson. I have witnesses. Concerts are so expensive now, you can't do all the things they did back in the day for stage shows. And people are too off the chain for major celebs t walk the aisles like they did back in the day. This is a great clip though. Love LaBelle and Ms. Patti.

They're singing over the track - just blowing it away with their live voices. Totally rave, outrageous cabaret mardi-gra costume. THIS is the fantastic possibilities of what entertainment/music/performance can be. Patti L's acting performance is unreal - just fabulous. ACTRESS!! Her singing is beyond it all; tops it ALL. That voice raises the whole thing to another atmosphere.
All three were sexy in the own special way. I ooooh over Nona Hendryx now, shake my head at Sarah Dash when thinking of her in this vid and last but not least....Patti, I'm just in the middle of the road because legends are where the bar remains...regardless of what ! :-)
Actuallly, I feel that the remake from Mya, Lil' Kim, Pink, and Christina is MUCH better than the original. The girls from the remake have strong natural voices. This just sounds nasally...

I love all things swiss - except the language - I have a good friend who lives outside of Wilisau (mispelled?) and she says most Swiss people speak Swiss German - that is what she speaks and I find it an ugly sounding language because it sounds just like ugly german which is dreadful sounding.
