THIS WAS MY FAVORITE SONG WHEN I WAS 4- PLUS I MADE MOM PLAY IT SO MUCH I GUESS SHE GOT TIRED OF IT BECAUSE SHE HID THE RECORD & WHEN I WAS OLDER I FOUND IT & TOOK IT STILL HAVE IT TODAY & STILL PLAY IT EVERY NOW & THEN!!!! BRINGS BACK MY CHILDHOOD FOR A LITTLE WHILE!!
Not to be outdone.....I also have fond memories of this song.......I was a bit older then 4.... About 16...In love for the first time in my life ........and babysat with her
Song charted on Billboard's Hot 100 List 1/9/61, peaked at no. 6 and was on the chart 14 weeks! Buzz Clifford was a one hit wonder with this song. By the way he did not sing Alley Oop, Gary Paxton did!
So very cute what you did - great job! This was my very favorite song as a very little girl. When I heard it I'd run to the radio to sit in front of it and listen. I still have my 45 record - a little warped but playable. I can't tell you how many times I listened to this over and over again in those days. Thanks for sharing.
This song is another example of it for me, what a great music the 50s and 60s have owned. For many years I own from Buzz Clifford's "Baby sittin' boogie" the German Philips record pressing and lay it over and over again with joy on the record plate of my Hitachi Direct drive turntable HT-355. Still today good mood comes with this song purely to the house, and one does not come out of the finger snap and swinging any more. 5 stars and the best wishes from Germany.
The babies voices in this song were a boy and girl of the producer. Reached #6 in 1961. Thanks for posting. pinkfloyd59 "an oldie, oldie lover till I die"
Wow...I love the Internet! LOL. I haven't heard this song in so...long...! I always did, think it was just one of the cutest songs I've ever heard. It's a goo song, but, the Baby, in it, makes it, even better. LOL!!
I was born in '58 & was 3 when this song came out & I did the same thing as the baby with this record made my older sister play it over & over again. what a flasback rush it was to hear it for the first time in 45 years
this song is just incredible, my girl baby shits for someone on her block too, wow, what a cowinkydinkarooski. congrats hot wings on gracin patrick wings
OMG! I loved this song so much as a kid! My record had a little chip out of it so I always had to be extra careful with it. Thank you so much for posting it!!
I've got this on a 45rpm. Haven't played it for well over 30 years ( as with so many of my other records), but I can still sing it word perfect. I'm a little a rusty on some of the baby talk, but not all.
First heard this delightful gem on WCBS-FM in New York city. Buzz (real name: Reese Francis Clifford III)scored his one and only national chart hit in 1961 with this. Reached #6 on Billboard's pop charts that year, and wound up selling over a million copies.

Does anyone know who does the sounds of the baby?
geator 3 years ago
Curtis Armstrong did the voice of baby. Among other movies, he's noted as being in "Revenge of the Nerds".
raceanoncr 3 years ago
Thanks for the info.
geator 3 years ago
Was he a kid doing a baby's voice or a real baby at the time? The voice is so convincing!
crosstichgirl02 3 years ago
The song was recorded in 1961 and Armstrong was born in 1953 so he wasn't quite a baby but very young, according to the math.
