if you put ur thumb at the left corner and index at the top middle followed by ur other fingers, you can spring more easily because of the elastic energy conversion.
Thanks for the tut, now I know the concept and can roughly do it. Thanks for the tip, I fucked up my cards. Unfortunately I fucked up my finger too. Great tut though.
P.S: You might want to consider changing the music, I came to learn to flourish cards, I danced instead.
Try to adjust youre angle of the spring, example, try to shoot the cards a little forward instead of downwards, when you shoot downwards the cards are out of control, remember this sleight is all about developing youre own and natual grips and tricks, keep that in mind!
i'm not the top performer i just love saying that, cause theirs no one better than me atleast close by. but yes i have a low budget all the card pack i have where gifts from my grandfather that died i lil ago :( but was the name of the brand?
what's the name of the cards that have the black outlines and is black on the back like the ones on Common Toss and Flick Tutorial - Aerial 3? please i'm the top card magician in Puerto Rico but i never seen those cards. I have a really low budget and i live out of street preformances :/.i need know the name of the brand to buy them on e-bay or something.
look at my tutorial on my profile lol. u can either use the center like he does or use a corner. if u use the corner, theres more card bending, and its not as precise of a thumb movement, so its easier. but yes the cards do come off the thumb first
Awesome, awesome, awesome tutorial!! I could never do this...until you mentioned the importance of the pinky. Then I adjusted my hand position to allow them to catch on my pinky. Literally, midway through the vid I could suddenly do it. Great job.
you really have got to get those bicycle cards... i bet they dont stick together like my woolworths ones!! an its not like i can take em bak lol! CARDSHARK88 other people idolise gordon brown.... not me.... u r a shark in every sense geeza!!!
CardShark, you are a fucking BOSS. I spent years trying to figure out how to do this-- until I watched your video. In just 2 minutes, I can do it with my hands 2 feet apart.
Well, what you can do is practice a spring with one side of the deck facing you and then do the next spring with the other side of the deck facing you. That way each side gets an even amount of bend and ur deck will just end up a lot more flexible
if your going to curse in a video cardshark then at least put a warning. you don't want angry moms bitching at you cuz they're little boy learned a new word now do you ;)
When i do this, the cards tend to fly backwards toward me =P that supposed to happen? and what can i do to keep em going towards about the same place?
this isnt too bad for your cards once you mastered it you wont be bending the hell out of them if you looks at proffesionals doing them 30 times the deck is still fine.
i love my thumb!! and my cards all plastic royal washable playing cards FTW!!!(for the win incase any of u nubits didnt no what FTW ment also fuck the world but in this case for the win) rofl
Dude, I've been trying unsuccessfully to spring for 1 1/2 years. As soon as I saw your 1st grip (never seen that one before) I stopped the video, picked up the cards and did it. FINALLY! Can't thank you enough. P.S. Can't stop myself, gotta make this joke regarding hockeyisawesome21's comment below--yeah, can you stop making awesome, useful, flourish videos and instead expose crappy tricks like Mercury instead, because there are only 50 or so YouTube tutorials on it. :-) Couldn't refrain.
Glad to see you're still making tutorials, Dan. Not as detailed as some of your previous (thank God for that ;)) and there are some other grip variations you might have included, but I think pretty much anyone should be able to get the gist of springing from this video.
It's generally harder to make a controlled spring off the fingers with good thick cards. I can do it with plastics but otherwise, my thumb is just sturdier than the other fingers.
Great to see you back Dan we missed you on the 3C Forums =/ 5 Star tutorial. I'v been doing Springs for about 3 years now, and after all the things iv tought myself, this video helped me top it off. Perfection =]
For your information, I spring off my fingers and my spring looks exactly the same as the one seen in this video and anyone elses 'thumb' spring. As long as you have the same control than it really doesn't matter. :)
With some experimenting they can both look the same.
Nice video. It also works the opposite way, I don't spring the cards off my thumb, I straighten my fingers that grip the other side of the deck instead and it works just as good. My thumb doesn't even move.
Springs can be tricky, especially when you first learn them, but they are a very important staple in card manipulation. I personally think springing from the corners is the better method instead of springing from the sides.
Cards are every where but i will NOT give up!

will excessive springing fuck up ellusionist cards with UV-500 Air Flow coating?????????
cuz i dont want to ruin these cards
loddyfreik123 2 years ago
Ellusionist tag their UV-500 Air Flow Coating Tag on all their cards and all that does is make them glow in a black light.
It does nothing for protection, therefore yes, excessive springing on even the most durable of card will eventually fuck them up.

"Excessive Springing will fuck up your cards".
If you're using the edge grip, no matter how you do it, you'll fuck up your cards after enough time.
However, I've found that the corner grip not only reduces overall damage to the cards, but allows for bend repair if you do it right.
What sort of student of Jerry Cestkowski uses the edge grip? It no go as far.

This is REALLY awesome but however, it kinda bends and ruins your deck of cards. Other than that, this is INCREDIBLE.
kiddi3ang3l 2 years ago
Ye it doesn bend and weaken them.
A way to get them back into better condition is put your packet inbetween some solid books and put wieght on top.
Leave it there overnight
