  • I love Burke's work!

  • I was introduced to James Lee Burke by an unscrupulous stock broker at a bucket shop firm. He stole about $300k from my account. It was a pretty even trade.

  • i love his work..what an amazingly profound writer..all tucked into this genre he is the only one i read of this genre...the philosophy..the eloquence...wish i knew the South

in the way he writes it...the physical beauty of it..not the racism etc...thank you James Lee Burke you are a gift to the world.

  • James Lee Burke...what an awesome writer. He puts more thrilling tension in two people facing eachother than all the car chases and gun battles on TV put together. His stories weave a great fabric. He's the only writer I know whose books you can pick up, flip to any page and read with delight without knowing what came before or what comes after. I emailed him with advice on my own crime novel. He was generous and took the time to answer & gave me one piece of advice that has been invaluable.

  • JLBURKE is one of the finest men I know. He is what you see on this tape, brilliant, humble, and a man of God. My favorite novel of his is CIMARRON ROSE about his character Billy Bob Holland, if you haven't read it, run now......and pick it up.

    Cajun Troubadour

  • My fav author.

  • To my mind, one of the worlds greatest writers

  • I know that his books are very violent BUT his writing is poetic in parts, his latest book is always one of the treats of my reading year

  • In my opinion, Burke and another James - Ellroy - are responsible for turning crime writing into literature.

  • Extraordinary author. The Tin Roof Blowdown was my first experience, on CD's with Will Patton reading. I work in clay about ten hours daily....so am limited to actually holding a book.

But those cd's made me ache for the New Orleans' people. Still today it is difficult to find an author who can write so compassionately about the trials and tribulations of the quiet people...disenfranchised and scarred by life. It is indeed a privilege to actually see James Lee Burke on YouTube. Thank you.
