  • can you tell me the name of the singer & the title of the song? my mother-in-law likes this type of music. Thanks!

  • @ladyfoxx I would also like to know.

  • This is one of my favorite in khmer cooking. For a second there i thought i was actually smelling the food lol.

  • Omg, I love wearing the type of pj`s you`re wearing. They`re so comfortable. Everytime I go to Khmer, I always come back with 20 of them. Lol.

  • @iyouchan You and me both...hehe!

  • I've never seen kar siche chrouk made from pork chops before. I used the pork shoulder part of the pig to make it as it has so much more flavor to it.

  • I make mine completely diffrent from your recipe. I like the song though. I do a few things to cheat HEHE. And I'm probably one of the only men to watch the video. I use sprite instead of coconut soda and add coconut creme after. I also brown the pork with the sugar and garlic to lock in more flavor. Also like the comment about the brown sugar. taste better and is better for you. I also add a little powdered chill that my mom makes herself. Extra kick. I'm Khmer Saren so I like da spicey.HEHE.

  • I love that you used lean pork but I've never had it with fish sauce or bamboo shoots. This is more like soup than a kaw. I may be wrong, it's probably a regional thing also.

  • coconut soda, do you mean like sweet carbonated coconut soft drink??? Can you explain a bit more this ingredient, thx.

  • @westislandkev Yes, you can use that.

  • i tried doing this one and i messed it up lol i boiled teh sugar too long and when i put water in, the whole thing turn into sticky hard sugar. lol ruined everything. im trying one more time now....lets hope for the best :)

  • @mskatwoman022008 LOL! It's okay...it's all about trial and error and I made the same mistake. Don't worry about the caramel because it will melt again. How did the 2nd time came around?

  • @mskatwoman022008

You can try brow sugar next time, that way there's no chance that you'll accidentally burn the sugar. I've burned my sugar plenty of times and I found that brown sugar in kaw taste so much better.

  • ohh ça l'air envie de manger..

  • Hi Bong, I followed your recipe last night. I made kaw siche moun but it was too pah-ime. I used 1 &1/3 cup of ska tnout but I think the chnang that I used was too tooch. I believe it was only a 3 qt. chnang. How big is the one you are using?

Anyways, I ended up pouring out half of the broth and redoing it only using thuck, thuck saeew, and thuck threy. Still ended up tasting coo though! Next time I'll have to patahy the ska and maybe only use galah kiew lol. Thanks for the tutorial Bong Srey!!

  • @chunlyda Yay! I'm so glad that you made it and sorry, I do not know what size my pot is. Ska Tnout is sweeter than regular skaw. I'm glad that you kept trying until it was to your liking. I love hearing comments like these! *^_^*

  • the song is by HOUR LAVY- SNOW

  • @uglybong Wow! I never knew that...thanks for telling us!

  • "NattHrafn Cambodian cooking reminds me a lot of Thai food. Sometimes i makes me think that its maybe the same"

Youre obviously not khmer or thai for you to make a comment like this. cus if you were either or you would kno the difference and that there might be similarities but defintely not the same

  • Cambodian cooking reminds me a lot of Thai food. Sometimes i makes me think that its maybe the same.

  • @NattHrafn Yes, Thai food is very similiar to Khmer, but the difference is the spicy/hot part.

  • lol i understand the song wtf..... and i and i can barely speck cambodian anymore

  • I remember my mom making this when I was I kid, one of my favorite dishes... definitely a comfort food.! Now I'm a university student, and I eat out basically every day. I plan to make this. It really reminds me of home. Thank you so much. :D

  • @tkeo You're welcome and I'm glad that I can make you feel at home.

  • hey bong, wat is the name of this song..im loving it!!

  • @sr3ypr3shuz85 Hi paowne srey...so sorry, I do not know.

  • @lilladykrissy You know, I think that it might be an Asian dish because of the language on some of the bottles that she used. I may be wrong so anyone feel free to correct me :).

  • yea i know it's asian but viet?thai?chinese?

  • Cambodian. And don't worry, I checked :).

  • Aww man! this is definitely one of my favorites! I can't wait to try your recipe!

  • @kcl060 Great! Have you tried it yet? Tell me how it goes.

  • @forg3tm3not770 Receiving your comment today actually inspired me to go ahead and give it a try for the first time and it turned out great! I had the same thing happen as MsKatWoman with the hard sugar, but when I tasted the sugar mixture it tasted fine, so I kept stirring and hoped for the best and I'm so glad I did. I can't thank you enough for sharing the recipe! Kaw is one of my favs. Who knew it was so easy!

  • @kcl060 Yay1 I'm so glad to hear that. That's how I learned how to cook b/c if I want to eat my favorite dishes, gotta learn the recipe.

  • Bamboo shoots look like mini pagodas XD. Damn, I'm so hungry:D.

  • bong you the one girl making Khmer food on youtube thank you so much hehehe

i need to learn something from you hehe

why dont you us yr face or something

  • You're very welcome paowne srey Naren...thank you for watching my videos. I didn't want to get all dressed up when making cooking videos and that's why i decided not to use my face. But, you can see my face in my makeup videos.

  • awe thank you say make more cool video or something alright

i know im oun right, bong i dont really understand Khmer when you write...

  • hi bong..had a question instead of pork loin u can subsitute the meat with pigs feet right with your ingredients??

  • Hello paowne superkoolnar. Yes, you can sub this for pig's feet as well.

  • I love this! I use palm juice (to drink) instead of the palm sugar. I love just pork & fry tofu! ;] MmMmM! Makin' me hungry. LOL

  • I love fry tofu too...I'm hungry myself...hehe!

  • I love it! its delicious, but it gives me gas...

  • LOL! Must be the eggs in there.

  • gosh bong u make me so hungry haha. great dish! i def. can learn alot from u! mad love 4 You! <3

  • Thank you so much paowne srey sugrmama...I can see that you're on a roll with my videos...hehe!

  • Your mom would be very proud of you...thanks for watching dopeboylai!

  • Oh, and another question. What's the differnece with the regular soy sauce and the sweet dark soy sauce? Are you adding the dark soy for color? Whats the taste difference. Thanks Bong!

  • I use it for the color and more of a condensed look. But other than that, it tastes the same.

  • Hi! If I want to substitude pork for chicken, what would you recommend? Whole chicken chopped up, chicken thighs, chicken breast, or bone in chicken?? Thanks!

  • Hi there Sreyneang21! I ike my kaw with chicken too, but I would use chicken thighs so that it would have some flavor. I'm too lazy to cut up the whole chicken but that will do as well. Chicken breast is quick, but won't give much taste.

  • looks really good, that is my favorite too!

  • Thanks khmerfood1! I see that you're on a roll with my videos...hehe! Please share my channel with your family and friends.

  • I haven't had kaw in months. That is the bad thing about moving away from home, you end up being away from good food!

  • LOL! That's why I learned how to cook the food that I like to eat.

  • im going try to make that one day... i did the yao hon with some of my friends they love it..thanks all your food look good...

  • That is wonderful! I love hearing feedback/input...thanks for trying!

  • Thank you for all of your cooking videos. Kaw siche chrouk is my favorite all time Cambodian dish. Your version look delicious. My mother make a version that's not as fancy :).

I checked out your myspace site and I'm very surprised that you're in Lawrenceville, across town from me. I live in Roswell and my parents live near Norcross. You should open a khmer restaurant.

  • Well hello neighbor! Do you think we've seen each other before? I used to live in Norcross too and I work in the Perimeter area...isn't Roswell the next exit after Chamblee Dunwoody? Did you know that there's this great Khmer restaurant called Phnom Penh Fine Cuisines Restaurant on L'ville Hwy?

  • never used quail eggs with that before but I'll try it cuz quail eggs are so good lol

  • Honestly, this was my 1st time using quail eggs for video purposes b/c it would take me too long to use regular eggs...hehe! And yes, it still tasted good.

  • omg thank you SO much for making this!!! Its one of my favorites. I wanted to ask you to do a vid on it, but I was drawing a blank on the name. im so excited about finally making it myself!

  • You're very welcome....tell me how it goes when you do decide to make it.

  • it came out yummy thank you for posting =] . now i can cook for my lover without him complaining about how much he misses kaw . =]

  • Ooh great! I'm so glad to hear that b/c I love hearing the aftermath of what people followed from my tutorials. Yes, chicken or fish goes very well with kaw and if you want an extra kick, use coconut soda instead of water.

  • the khmer singer name Hou Lavie. (I don't know how to spell...hopefully it close.) He an old singer during Mein KeoPichenda time.

  • Wow...everybody seems to know who sang this song except for me...thanks psmeasly!

  • Hi ThaiLakorFanatic! Thank you very much. Just send me your email and I will send you the mp3 via triple ws(dot)yousendit(dot)com

  • I tried to send you my email through the "Send Message" link on your youtube page, but it said that you have friendlock, so the message wouldn't go through...

  • Oy !! ch'gooy ch'ganh nas prolung ;)

  • Ah khun jran nas bong.

  • thanks for sharing this yummy recipe

  • You're very welcome snowdrop19 and thank you for watching.

  • Can you make a tutorial on SOm Lor Mah Gue Youn..(vietnames sweet n' sour soup) with Lotus roots..mmmm sooo good. I only can make it with shrimp everytime I try to make it with spare ribs it turns out yucky..I can smell the meat. Thanks!

  • Hi Sotheari...yes, I've been waiting to make this dish next and I hope that you like it...I never use spare ribs with somlor machoo yune before. My recipe will be with chicken.

  • Great can't wait...referring to the comment below..I'm the opposite because my husband can cook all sorts of kmai receipes from the top of his head. So when I pulled out my receipes in which i got from you he makes fun of me. He can literally turn anything into food lolz..

  • LOL! You have to steal some recipes from your husband for me...I would love to know more.

  • Good Luck...he's a tight wad and don't share any knowlege at all....he tells me he doesn't have a recipe, he retains everything in his head. He said he always look @ his mom cooks and takes everything in that way. add a little this and that then everything tastes good. I stop asking and just eat..eat..eat..!

  • We're all so forunate that you're sharing all these tutorials on khmer foods. You're style and way of cooking is a lot like my family too. Thanks for your time and efforts. You're family is also lucky to have such a great cook :-)

  • Aww...thank you so much cutiekhmergirl. Please tell my husband that...:P Sometimes, he takes it for granted. I'm always reminding him that he's lucky I know how to cook Khmer food.

  • It look very apetice and the version i cook i always put reguler egg. Anyway it was a good to have so many different ingrediens. Love you clips.

    Sorry for my bad english

i'm a frensh student so my writing in english is very bad.

    Merci de ce beau montage

  • Bonjour yellowhana! Merci beaucoup. Yes, the original version does have regular eggs in it, but I was too lazy to boil the eggs first...*^_^* Votre anglais est compréhensible et je vous remercions d'avoir à regarder ma vidéo.

  • Thank you, this will help a lot when we are up there in Atlanta

  • You're welcome. Please feel free to ask me anytime.

  • ARE oyu wearing a sorong

  • *^_^* I'm actually wearing one of my Khmer sleeping gowns b/c I like to be comfortable at home.

  • OHMYGOSH! This this my fave dish. I've been asking around for the recipe for the longest and WHAM!!!! All thanks to you..I've found it. You've done it again. You're awesome!

  • LOL! Thank you for being a fan all this time leeswifey85. How are you doing? I'm glad that you found this video and enjoyed it.

  • awesome! i love the different variations in kaw. everyone has their own version. my mom just made kaw with ground-pork-noodles-stuffed bittermelon, chicken eggs, and italian sausages. i hope to try your version one day. =)

btw, is this hour levy singing?

  • Oooh...I love kaw marea and my mom makes that all the time too, but never tried italian sausages in it though. Yes, I have to try and I'm sorry, I don't know who the singer is. My husband gave me the song when we first met and it was called "Snow"...something like that.

  • The singer to the song is Hour La Vey...old kmai guy he lost most of his voice when someone try to poison or should I say spike his drink with poison which cause him to lose most of his beautiful talent.

  • Where do you get all your ingredients in Atlanta, can yoiu give me the name of the store and the address...?

  • Hi there Dara! I mainly get my grocery from ASSI Farmer's Market here on Old P'tree Exit on I-85 North (in b/t the Sugarloaf exit and Suwanee exit). Of course, there's all those other great grocery stores on Buford Hwy but that's 20-25 mins from my house vs ASSI being only 5 mins away.

  • Hi! Thank you for teaching us! I love your video! And I also love the authentic music you put on background!

  • Aww...thank you very much godlovesboa! I'm starting to run out of authentic music...hehe!

  • Hi khmer rachel ray! lol It's me melissa from atl. Seriously, you make everything so simple in your cooking. Hope u and your hubby are doing well! Much love babe. xoxo

  • OMG! Melissa! LOL! You found me...hehe! Did you added me to your buddy list? How are you and your family doing? My hubby is actually out of the country on a business trip and wouldn't b back til early Sept...so as you can see, I've been keeping myself company...hehe! Hope all is well with yours.

  • Lol yes, I did, well I I'm one of your many subscribers for awhile. hehehe I've been watching all your vids, especially the makeup tutorials, trying to look good for my honey. hahaha I'm doing good. Good to see your doing well. I just added u to my buddylist. I'll chat w/ you later. ~Muah~

  • oh, it looks wonderful and I like the melody of the song!

  • Hi Maangchi! I miss your videos and thank you very much!

  • that looks really good bong. So far all of your food tutorials are the ones that I've been stressing over for the past yrs lol. Looking forward to more..thanks!

  • You're very welcome BorosWA! Thank you so much for keeping up with my tutorials.

  • quail eggs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I see that you're a fan of quail eggs zombiesbride...Hehe!

  • i luv somlor kaw!! but usually i use pork bone and the egg. never try it with quail eggs before. anyways i'll try that and i luv bamboo shoot its my favorite veggie.=)oh and is brown sugar and palm sugar taste the same??=D thanks again....

  • You're welcome iluvfullhouse and thank you! Pork bones and eggs are the main ingredients but I just switched it up a bit for my own preference. Palm sugar tastes way better than brown sugar and more authentic.

  • lol! nice hehe

  • Thanks letterzrnumbers!

  • it's so nice when u give alternative ingridients. thanks!

  • You're very welcome noracism11 and thank you for commenting.

  • oouu that looks good. i love fresh quail eggs they're so fun to eat.

  • Thanks ohowspiffy! I love incorporating quail eggs in my soups, but don't know where I can get fresh ones.

  • sorry i'm replying late. well...i live in california and the asian stores that i go to usually have fresh quail eggs that are in small egg containers that come in a dozen and i buy like 3 boxes :p and they're so fun to just boil and eat like a snack by itself.

  • looks delicious. what is the difference between the palm sugar and just regular brown sugar?

  • Thanks ebonyamberjade! I can't really explain the difference but palm sugar tastes way better than brown sugar.

  • yummmyyy...i want some of this. =D

  • Thanks b3bkoolit!

  • Ohmigosh! I can't wait to try out this new recipe on Friday! Thanks so much for the video. It really helps. You're awesome.

  • Thank you so much Abserastar20! Please tell me how it goes.

  • my mom makes something similar. it's called thom khem

  • Awesome sunshynn923! Can you tell me how she makes it? I would love to know.

  • Mmm, yummy! My mom makes it with the 3 layered pork, I always end up throwing away the fat layers. I saw another video of this, that lady used so much msg in everything! I like your recipe!

  • Thank you SomrossMealea! The original recipe does asks for 3 layered pork, but it's so fattening so I'm trying to make it more healthier by using pork loin. MSG is one ingredient that I refuse to use in my cuisines. Don't understand why Khmer people always insist on using it, including my mom.

  • Yum! My sister goes nuts everytime she get's a hold of this soup!

  • LOL! Thanks professorkiwi! It's not one of my favorites, but I was having the craving for it yesterday.

  • OMG! This is the bombb! LOL. My mom makes it all the time! Bong, you should show how to make PHO! HAHAHA :)

  • LOL! Thanks paowne MONiCAxBO0! I will make a PHO tutorial in the future (both the shortcut way and the long version). I was skeptical to post this soup b/c most people might not be too interested in it. But I'm glad that ya liked it afterall.

  • can you use regular eggs instead of quail eggs.... im not too fond of quail eggs

  • Hi PinzessJulez! Yes, this recipe usually calls for regular hard boiled eggs, not quail, but I was too lazy to boil the eggs first...hehe!

  • oooh! we make something similar to this! it's a lao recipe -=) im hungry now! lol. it looks good ♥

  • Thank you MomoMonroe...I would love to hear how you make the Laos version...I love Laotian food.

  • yummy! i will be over for dinner! :-) great vid.

  • Thanks onlyonesimone!
