  • @debypie i know but i meant that the word ''gloria'' is spoken in other countries =)

  • @igorchillipeppers123 hi, the word "gloria" is spoken in portuguese too.

ps: sorry for the bad english but, i'm not american, i'm brazilian.

  • @saulincruzz hahaha.coincidencia, tambem sou brasileiro de uberlandia-mg

  • Comment removed

  • @igorchillipeppers123 Pois é, eu sou de BH, maior coincidência ainda.

Bom saber que os Brasileiros ainda tem bom gosto.

    Gloria...exultate

    Psalm 30

  • U2 para sempre!!!

  • Bitterly? I do not agree. I do not bitterly disbelieve in gnomes either. BTW, I like this song.

  • The start of something big............

  • Such powerful Christian music.

  • @skadimeicbeorh Ask the bassist and the drummer about their god.

  • @SkullVodka

The bassist, Adam Clayton, has never hidden the fact that he is an atheist. He has never left the band and has willingly played on music with obvious religious messages such as this one (and so many others! Bono's religious lyrics).

The drummer, Larry Mullen Jr., along with Bono and Edge were involved with a Christian faith community in Dublin early in their careers.

All three still seem to be Believers.

No need to ask them about their God - Just read and understand their lyrics.

  • @SkullVodka

and by "understand their lyrics", I dont mean "agree and believe in them", because I know you bitterly do not.

Like it or not, this IS powerful Christian music.

  • When they were great.

  • @rockstopthetraffic. I know, I saw U2 three times in the 80's. I was referring to his politics, he went off the deep end, and became an over kill liberal. He preaches about shit too much, but he obviously loves capitalism, not that there is anything wrong with that. As attested by his castle mansion outside of Dublin, and his other homes around the world.

@beema325, U2 keeps getting better? Maybe their equipment and stage show got better, but them as a band...I don't think so.

  • @kbinco

    Couldn't agree more.

  • ¡Ayyy, qué hermoso Bono, por Diosss!

  • Brilliant, and then they got better n better....!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • rebel.....freedom.

  • Look at their hair!!

  • obviously waiting on a boat to send all their tax over to holland.

  • @NaylorWeasel Hahahahaha!!! that's the best comment since yesterday!

  • lol at Adam Clayton's hair

  • @xSimmsStudiosx I think I prefer him with the hair, he doesn't have the best looking head.

  • ne ce pas los difference muey importantes!`~

  • gloria....ein auld dalday

  • Incrível.

  • Grande U2, Grande!!

  • Great song, great video. This was my first exposure to U2 and I was stoked. Gotta love the early days of MTV when they played real music!

  • I wonder where they recorded the clip, I know it's in Dublin ( where I am heading to in August ) but where, because I want to visit that place

    thanx in advance

  • @Timmyboy505 It's the docklands area in the east of the city, I think the Grand Canal Basin. That part of the city looks quite different now though, there's been a lot of new building since 1981.

  • @dtrellis thanks I will look it up, Guess you can't stop change, it's only a good thing for Ireland, new buildings new companies, can't expect things to stay the same after so many years,

anyways thanks alot for the trouble, I hope I can get there, see my mom loves Ireland and U2, so it would be cool to show her that Basin

  • @dtrellis its grand canal basin in ringsend had a ball that day the guys on the mast are to the right is johnner doyle and to left is tommy ??? wille roache in front with margret dunne and mick gregg in the army jacket i'm behind god when we're all walking

  • @ringsendinthe80s A little immortality.

  • @Timmyboy505 Lucky you, that's one place I would love to go. I love the way they captured Ireland in the intro of Rattle and Hum movie, during Van Dieman's Land.

  • @mmkaviator never seen that one but I will take your word on it, And indeed I am lucky to be going to this wonderful country aswell,

  • @Timmyboy505 you should see it, 'just beautiful...the movie itself was OK....just before their reinvention

  • OMG...I love Bono's smile...and look at that mop of hair...Awww they were so young. This song is awesome. Brings back so many memories of seeing them in concert in the 80s. Maybe I'll run into them in Ireland this summer when I visit....wishful thinking...haha

  • BONO KNOWS I AM A VIRGIN

  • @SELFproclaimedVIRGIN He is proud of you.

  • @stray88 HE KNOWS ANDREA CORR&MOYA BRENNAN..THEY TOO KNOW I AM A VIRGIN AS WELL AS ..ENYA

  • Hell to the Yeahhhhh !!! Saw them 3 times...but thats not nearly enough. Love there early songs...this is one of my favs and "I will follow"...Still the best after 30 years.

  • It's New Year's Eve and I'm not listening to New Year's Day!?!? More like it's New Year's Eve and I'm watching youtube.. seek help

  • bravo, great quality of video

  • link to download ????? come on dont be a greedy slut... SHARE THIS VIDEO, quality is very good

  • I'll bet some folks think "Gloria" is named after a woman...?

  • @beowulven That's what I always thought.

  • GLORIA AL QUE ESTA EN LOS CIELOS! JESÚS! ♥

  • I remember when this came out in 1981 (yes, a long time ago), people were so hyped about U2. What an incredible band...

  • Oh lord, if I had anything..... anything at all, I'd give it to you...

The end of this song when they all sing "Gloria" never fails to give me chills. God, they used to be cool as hell.

  • Joy Division Rullez

  • U2 is the Best Band in the world! 22 Grammy Awards in their hands baby!

  • i think edge looked older back then

  • @Cementeraren The Edge always had a mature face even in the early days.

  • @mmkaviator yeah..and Larry's hasn't changed at all.

  • Is that Dublin?

  • @sleepawayfanable , Yes it's Dublin in 1981, Grand Canal Docks

  • @sleepawayfanable Yes it is Dublin

  • This song hit me like a fantastic thunderbolt when it came out

  • The 80's were great, Bono was sane back then also.

  • @kbinco

You kidding? He was such a nut onstage...

"I CLIMB THESES SPEAKERS SO I COULD BE JUST LIKE YOU! JUST LIKE YOU!!"

  • I miss the 80's...

  • I like this song better 30 years later! great beat guitar and vocals

  • Can't get enough of this.

  • silly me thinking that 2:59 was actual news footage of Bono breaking his way to freedom... how impressionable my young mind once was...

  • One of the best U2 songs, hands down!

  • Great song!!!! U2 forever.

  • their early stuff is STILL and only the best!!!

  • im not a religious guy....but this tune and "Magnificent" are the only two songs that i have ever heard to make me want to pray to a christian god.

  • they were so raw back then, underdog bands make the the best music before they become commercialised and get infected by greed..

  • Comment removed

  • the only song i ever liked by these guys . everything else i`ve ever heard by them just sounds like noise to me.

  • @jonlarkster Damn dude.

  • I remember seeing this when it came out on MTV (they edited a few seconds out towards the end from the original LP track) Great stuff, really brings back memories!

  • What the hell?? Look at Larry Mullen.. OMFG

  • U2 were a cool band back in the day, with some great tracks to their credit. Their big mistake was not knowing when to call it quits and then Bono going on his sanctimonious (tax free) save the world mission.

  • I <3 OCTOBER

  • I'd loved to have known what all those Dublin kids were shouting from the quayside... "Ah yez are a bunch of feckin bollocks!" lol

  • @whisky110 hahahahah good one mate!

  • @whisky110 That's probably right! This was before they were world famous.

  • Gloria in te Domine! Glory in you, Lord!

  • 30 years ago! Aiee! Still a terrific track. We are privileged.

  • for some weird reason, he sounds eerily similar to the guy who sings "come on eileen" in this song! I'm totally Pro Bono

  • great song on their weakest album

  • This was a great song, it was also when Bono was sane.

  • a good music is always actual.

can you call this song as "old?

  • I still get chills watching this video and hearing the song...Bono's voice, the old Latin, the bells, everything.

  • Excellent quality on this video!

  • These kids might be pretty big someday!

  • This is terrible !

  • @GLEElover133 Your screen name says it all. You don't belong anywhere near this music. Beat it!

  • Bono before the sunglasses, I <3 it :)

  • 3:20 U2 really were "Under A Blood Red Sky" Lol

  • I LOVE YOU!!!!!

  • this song has help me during a bad time in my life. thank you for posting.

  • Love this song, even though I wasn't even born yet when they publiced this song!

  • 1981 L'oro degli anni '80

  • damn! i would love to have this video (excellent quality) share share share! :D Devoronian help us to get this awesome video please, cheers! (this looks better than my ".vob" ¬¬)

  • Lol Bono looks more like a gangleader in this era: that;s why I liked him better this way, he looked like he was dragged from the streets and thrown on stage, and turned out to have this beautifull voice

  • @Timmyboy505 damn, just the way i would decribe him, if i could have....great!

  • @Timmyboy505

A gang of pasty sodomites, perhaps.

  • @Timmyboy505 he was never dragged onto the stage, its where he's always wanted to be

    lucky for us!

  • Gloria...in te domine

    Gloria...exultate!

  • I was there with my sister, Still have the autographed copy of my Boy LP. It says "Bono 81"

  • The first time I saw this video, or heard of this band, was on a Broomfield, Colorado Public Broadcast station (can't remember the call sign. It was YEARS ago). They called the show FMTV. As I understand it, MTV bought the show out and MTV was born. Ohhh, for the good ole days.

  • The song that resonated DEEP within my heart on the first hearing and made me a lifetime fan. Second only to Drowning Man in sheer raw passion - with heart pulling, spine tingling rushes of utter elation, losing yourself in the moment.. ahhh.. BLISS

  • PICKED THIS BAND UP AFTER VIEWING "LAST AMERICAN VIRGIN" MOVIE IN 1982. INSTANT FAVORITE BAND. FOLLOWED FOR THIRTEEN YEARS, THEY LOST THEIR MESSAGE AND BECAME CELEBRITIES, THANKS TO BONO AND AMERICAN CORPORATE GREED. U2 RECORDED MORE SONGS THAN ANY OTHER ARTIST EVER RECORDED, ANY CHALLENGES??? CLAYTON, MULLEN, AND "THE EDGE ARE AWESOME MUSICIANS. EXAMPLE OF HOW ONE BAD APPLE SPOILS THE WHOLE BUNCH.

  • @ASADAAAAAAMA Bono could front a band. He sold them. Then he sold out, but hey, you try becoming a world famous billionaire cultural icon and see how you fare. This music, here, is some of their best and I love their fire and passion.

  • @lebarosky and the edge still had hair. seriously, i know what you mean. bono is trying to do good things, and i do credit him for it. but the music isn't the same. but he's also in his 50's, married and has children, he isn't a pissed off 20 year old anymore.

  • Hey whered u find this? This videos got pretty good quality for the early 80s

  • i think its funny when they are walking with the group of people.... is it just me??

  • Dude! It's U2! lol

  • dudes!

  • @nio1451 Dude, my bad, and I'm not a dude! LOL

  • I saw the band right after they released November~twice! Got to meet them after both shows, they were charming and very engaging. I can't imagine even being able to get within 500 feet of them now. I guess fame does change people :-(

However, after Boy, November has to be my favorite U2 album.

  • Comment removed

  • @Mydachshund Dude, it's OCTOBER, not November!!

  • @Mydachshund lol man, November? Yeah, I believe you. It's your favorite album. Right next to Over A Cold Blue Sky, right?

  • @skadimeicbeorh I'm so sorry I made a mistake. You obviously are perfect, so I bow to your gigantic head, with an ego to match.

  • @skadimeicbeorh quintuple posting isn't cool bro.

  • @shadowslayer0713 Yeah, its like hes proselytizing.

  • their best song ever!!!

  • I remember this lot...they were supposed to have been the next new band to make it big out of Ireland following Thin Lizzy and the Boomtown Rats...wonder whatever happened them!! Great choon....

  • not enough cameras eh bono

  • And another great music video on a barge. Bands like playing on water...Pistols, Blondie, or maybe I just have water on the brain. Great song. Tommy Chong. Ping Pong.

  • edge with hair.

  • Timeless music with an infectious beat. I think they knew something was coming that would last for ever.

  • BEAUTIFUL!

  • Oh my God, how young they were... Adam's hair is cool! 8)

  • Nice quality audio and of course an (((((Awesome))))) choooooon baby <3

  • enjoying it before the "suits" take it down ....great quality..thanks...!

  • One of the great music videos. Where was it made? When? This song was U2's concert "signature" song at the beginning of their career. Why is it 4k viewers?

  • i didnt have mtv until early 83. missed this one...

  • why why why why dont we see this vid on tv anymore?Ive been asking this for over 20 years now.

  • Excellent quality! thank you for loading it up.

  • Yes seriously good quality, thanks

  • Best quality on Youtube. Nice one.

  • U2 wrote "Miami"
