I know this is obvious, but the hair! WTF? I grew up in the 80's and even I knew better... OK, well, I did do the Adam Clayton look in '86, so can't be hate'n too much.
The bassist, Adam Clayton, has never hidden the fact that he is an atheist. He has never left the band and has willingly played on music with obvious religious messages such as this one (and so many others! Bono's religious lyrics).
The drummer, Larry Mullen Jr., along with Bono and Edge were involved with a Christian faith community in Dublin early in their careers.
All three still seem to be Believers.
No need to ask them about their God - Just read and understand their lyrics.
@rockstopthetraffic. I know, I saw U2 three times in the 80's. I was referring to his politics, he went off the deep end, and became an over kill liberal. He preaches about shit too much, but he obviously loves capitalism, not that there is anything wrong with that. As attested by his castle mansion outside of Dublin, and his other homes around the world.
@beema325, U2 keeps getting better? Maybe their equipment and stage show got better, but them as a band...I don't think so.
This was the real U2 real music, Today Bono hides behind his rose colored glasses embarrassed for being a sell out and processing a "product" for the money grabbers.
@Timmyboy505 It's the docklands area in the east of the city, I think the Grand Canal Basin. That part of the city looks quite different now though, there's been a lot of new building since 1981.
@dtrellis thanks I will look it up, Guess you can't stop change, it's only a good thing for Ireland, new buildings new companies, can't expect things to stay the same after so many years,

Hell to the Yeahhhhh !!! Saw them 3 times...but thats not nearly enough. Love there early songs...this is one of my favs and "I will follow"...Still the best after 30 years.

Lol Bono looks more like a gangleader in this era: that;s why I liked him better this way, he looked like he was dragged from the streets and thrown on stage, and turned out to have this beautifull voice
The first time I saw this video, or heard of this band, was on a Broomfield, Colorado Public Broadcast station (can't remember the call sign. It was YEARS ago). They called the show FMTV. As I understand it, MTV bought the show out and MTV was born. Ohhh, for the good ole days.
The song that resonated DEEP within my heart on the first hearing and made me a lifetime fan. Second only to Drowning Man in sheer raw passion - with heart pulling, spine tingling rushes of utter elation, losing yourself in the moment.. ahhh.. BLISS
PICKED THIS BAND UP AFTER VIEWING "LAST AMERICAN VIRGIN" MOVIE IN 1982. INSTANT FAVORITE BAND. @ASADAAAAAAMA Bono could front a band. He sold them. Then he sold out, but hey, you try becoming a world famous billionaire cultural icon and see how you fare. This music, here, is some of their best and I love their fire and passion.
@lebarosky and the edge still had hair. seriously, i know what you mean. bono is trying to do good things, and i do credit him for it. but the music isn't the same. but he's also in his 50's, married and has children, he isn't a pissed off 20 year old anymore.
