I think the fastest year was 2004 or 2005, with those V10-orchestras and beautiful cars. 2005 although had bad tyre rules.

The V10 sounds nice, but where it sounds best, coming out of a corner on traction, its ruined by the TC. Shame really. Listening to a raw F1 V8 without any TC is better than this.

@PS3GameProductions V8s might not have TC any more but they still sound the same because of the blown diffuser, especially on the Renault powered cars.

@wandererslegion He mustn't do any such thing. fuel corrected Webber was 3 tenths quicker than Heidfeld so it's debatable whether Heidfeld's lap was awesome or not. Very good lap from Heidfeld though but Webber's was better.

Webber definitively loves this Nurburgring track.Great qualifying lap with this uncompetitive Williams in 2005.Podium in 2007 witj a middle row Red Bull car.Pole,fastest lap and win in 2009 with a fantastic performance.Pole position in 2011 and a podium finish in the race beating his team-mate Vettel for the first time in 2011 season.

@blainyrules It is V6's, my mistake. =] 1.6 litres with turbocharging. The original plan was to have V4's, but there were too many concerns raised, apparently.

@NFXShockwave Wrong. The original plan was 1,6l straight 4 with turbo at 12,000rpm(in 2013)

Now they're planning the 1.6l V6 with turbo at 15,000rmp (in 2014)

Anyway, it's will be still weaker than today's engines + downforce from aerodinamyc also will be reduce......

@bosshunterman Yeah but if i'm not misstaken i think they had turbo v6 in the 80's which year i can't remember. I think whit 15,000 rmp and a turbo... oh my gosh it will have sound for you guys :D and the sound is not completly dead, you know this years lotus has so much noise so it sounds like a v10 haha :D

I partially agree. I think V10 sounds best, then the deep sound of the v6 and the high s of the turbo. I think V8 sound just sucks. Listen to them driving through the flatout 3 left corners.. awful!
